Thomas William Hamilton (born December 31, 1951) is an American musician and songwriter who serves as the bassist for the hard rock bands Aerosmith and Close Enemies. Hamilton has regularly co-written songs for Aerosmith, including two of the band's biggest successes: "Sweet Emotion" (1975) and "Janie's Got a Gun" (1989). Hamilton occasionally plays guitar (e.g. "Uncle Salty", "Sick as a Dog"),sings backing vocals (e.g. "Love in an Elevator") and on rare occasions, lead vocals ("Up On the Mountain").He was a 2001 inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Aerosmith.

Album:

Aerosmith fans have new music to listen to, thanks to legendary bassist Tom Hamilton, who returns with the debut full-length release by his new band, CLOSE ENEMIES.CLOSE ENEMIES is in fact a super-group, comprising the talents of Hamilton, another legendary musician in drummer Tony Brock (The Babys and Rod Stewart), touring veterans Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow, Don Henley) and Trace Foster (guitar tech for AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones), and singer Chasen Hampton, who has been singing professionally since 11, as a member and co-host of the famed 90s Mickey Mouse Club and pop group The Party. As Hamilton told, material for the album came together in a surprisingly effortless and organic way. “We sat around in Peter’s basement and there’s just something about that room. We put up a couple of mics and got these amazing drum sounds,” he says. “All of the guitar and bass tones were right there. I came in with a rough demo of a song that I’d had in the back of my head. Everybody listened to it and then immediately, everyone started contributing these beautiful parts to it. By the end of the day, we had this beautiful track that I couldn’t believe.”All these musicians quality is out of question, and Chasen Hampton is the glue vocally in CLOSE ENEMIES, bringing a chameleon-like quality to the Classic Rock sound of the group. He’s a veritable shapeshifter who helps to guide the listener on quite a journey across the 10 tracks on ”Close Enemies”.When musicians who have spent decades on some of rock’s biggest stages decide to start something new, the result rarely feels like a nostalgia project. Instead, it often becomes an opportunity to rediscover the simple reason they picked up their instruments in the first place: the thrill of playing loud, honest rock and roll. That spirit fuels Close Enemies, the new band featuring musicians whose careers span Aerosmith, The Babys, Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, AC/DC, the Rolling Stones touring circles.Rather than chasing trends, ”Close Enemies” feels like a gathering of musicians returning to the core of rock: friendship, instinct, and the shared language of guitars, drums and melody. The result is a record built on experience but driven by the excitement of starting a new chapter. With years of professionalism behind them, the members of Close Enemies bring together a unique chemistry shaped by decades on the road and in the studio.Close Enemies sounds like a lost gem from the bygone era of rock’s golden age. With a distinctly ‘70s vibe, the band feels natural, organic, true Rock N’ Roll.Collectively, the resume behind Close Enemies is impressive, featuring a cast of lifelong musicians who have seemingly done it all. And it shows on their debut album.
