Prezence started in 1983 off as a high school band from Clark High School by guitarist Shawn Sahm and bassist Neal Walker.Shawn had spent the previous years touring and recording with his father, Doug Sahm of “The Sir Douglas Quintet” fame. After playing the Texas club circuit for a few years PREZENCE released a self-financed single in San Antonio. "ROCK LOUDER’ quickly became one of the most requested songs on KXZL and KISS.PREZENCE began opening shows for national acts and became San Antonio's favorite rock band.Texas tours with TESLA and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN established PREZENCE as one of Texas’ premier hard rock acts. Readers of San Antonio's entertainment magazine, ‘The Current”, voted PREZENCE ‘Best Metal-Rock Group of I987."" While continuing to play the club circuit as well as supporting major acts, PREZENCE is now ready to show the world what the kids in Texas already know.The first step was a talent show, which was a big hit, and around this time Shawn met Neal Walker (soon to be Bass Player), who invited Shawn to jam with his band Monarch, which is where Shawn finds Gary Powell (soon to be Drummer). Not long after this they added Jim Collins (Guitarist). Shawn gets some studio time from his father (Doug Sahm--aka Texas Tornados) at Willie Nelson Studios which is where the first EP was recorded 'Life In The City'. At this point Shawn is Lead Singer, for a little while, then they find there Front Man Carlos Trevino.
