Mid-80's AOR group from Philadelpia, PA, US They released only one album "The Ladder" in 1986.The band was fronted by vocalist Frank Mancano and featured drummer Joe Franco, who has played with Widowmaker, Doro, Twisted Sister and Magellan.
Joe "Seven" Franco (born 1951) is an American drummer best known for his work with the band The Good Rats in the late 1970s and later as a member of Twisted Sister.Joe Franco, a 1969 graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School,became a member of the band The Good Rats in 1972.He also produced and played in the horror rock band Van Helsing's Curse,[4] which also featured Twisted Sister lead vocalist Dee Snider, and on the Magellan album Hundred Year Flood. Franco replaced A. J. Pero in Twisted Sister in 1986, and stayed in the band for about a year until its break-up in 1987. He also played in Snider's group Widowmaker; and with guitarists Vinnie Moore and Blues Saraceno. and also former Kansas vocalist Steve Walsh on his solo album Shadowman.Franco is the author of the book Double Bass Drumming (1984; Alfred, 1993) and is featured in the accompanying video (1988; Warner Bros., 2005).He has also lectured and written articles about drumming and is a music producer involved in recording and post-production work as owner of Beatstreet Productions[10] in the Flatiron District of New York City, New York.

Sometimes a record appears out of nowhere which literally takes your breath away. So it is with The Ladder, a sensational five piece with virtually no pedigree to speak of, yet fully loaded with talent and a raging desire to make as big an impression as humanly possible. The fact that their sole album failed to make a commercial impact is neither here nor there but nearly 35 years after its release we are still talking about its enduring and timeless quality. Originating from Philadelphia, the band was formed from an ad hoc musical collective that had been involved with a number of different mostly non rock projects. The only member with a history was drummer Joe Franco formerly of the Good Rats and later to perform with Twisted Sister.At the centre of this cabal were brother’s Lou and Joe Parente, both men responsible for most of the song writing. Leading the charge however was previously unknown vocalist Frank Mancano whose style and timbre was immediately compared to the likes of Lou Gramm, Joe Lynn Turner and Steve Perry. Signed to ATCO, the sister label of Atlantic Records, the album was issued in October 1986 and failed to cause even the smallest ripple of interest except - as we’ve learnt from other similar acts - small pockets of support in the European press. With no internet or social media at the time the odds were truly stacked against them. Despite infinitely strong songs such as ‘Time Soldier’, ‘Breakdown’, ‘Standin’ and the knock-out punch of ‘Double Shot Of Love’ the album is now considered one of the greatest lost treasures of the late eighties.
