Frontiers Music Srl will release URIAH HEEP's newest live album, titled "Live At Koko, London 2014", on February 20, 2015 in Europe and February 24 in North America.In January 2011, URIAH HEEP entered the studio to record "Into The Wild" and the band once again returned to the road for a worldwide tour. The group played in front of nearly 150,000 people in 58 different countries. On March 4, 2014, URIAH HEEP played in front of its "home" audience in London and performed an amazing show which was recorded in HD for a release in double CD/DVD and, for the first time, on Blu-ray."Recording a live DVD in London at Koko's was just fantastic. Our fans travelled from all over the world to be there, and be part of this magic night," says guitarist Mick Box. "This added so much to the atmosphere, and thankfully it was captured on camera. We debuted two songs from our new CD, 'Outsider', that night, and the reaction was just incredible, proving that we have the best fans in the world."Originally founded by vocalist David Byron and guitarist Mick Box, URIAH HEEP has been through an incredible number of permutations, with Box always at the helm. Longstanding keyboard player Phil Lanzon and vocalist Bernie Shaw were recruited nearly thirty years ago in 1986. Drummer Russell Gilbrook who has now been with the band seven years, has recorded studio albums "Wake The Sleeper", "Into The Wild" and "Outsider". "Wake The Sleeper" heralded an exciting new phase for the band, taking HEEP's classic sound right into the future. The band celebrated its 40th anniversary with an aptly titled greatest-hits re-recordings album called "Celebration". Dave Rimmer, who had been standing in for Trevor Bolder (ex-David Bowie's SPIDERS FROM MARS), continues as the bassist, with the band's diary for the foreseeable future as full as ever.

Totally Driven is the upcoming 25th studio album by British hard rock band Uriah Heep, to be released on 20 November 2015 on their own label, Uriah Heep Records. The album contains re-recorded versions of 27 of their best known songs, recorded with the long-standing 1986-2007 lineup.The album was originally released in 2001 with a different track order as Remasters: The Official Anthology, but it went out of print quite quickly and was forgotten about. It was reissued in 2004 as Uriah Heep's Gold: Looking Back 1970-2001 without the band's knowledge by a European budget label.According to guitarist Mick Box, the songs were recorded in preparation for the Acoustically Driven and Electrically Driven concerts.

25th Anniversary Edition of Uriah Heep’s sixteenth studio album. Re-mastered & Expanded to include 4 bonus tracks previously unreleased on CD.Equator was the sixteenth album released by British rock band Uriah Heep, released in 1985. It marked the studio return of bassist Trevor Bolder, who had rejoined the band for the Head First tour. The band also had a new record label, Portrait Records, a subsidiary of CBS. Equator was also the last Uriah Heep album to feature vocalist Peter Goalby & keyboardist John Sinclair.The tour programme would be Heep's last in the UK until the Wake the Sleeper tour, which began in 2008.When the Heep back catalogue was issued on CD in the early 1990s by Castle and then remastered, with bonus tracks, in the mid-to-late 1990s by Essential, Equator was conspicuous by its absence. This was because Sony/CBS wanted what was considered an extortionate sum for the rights. The album ultimately had a CD release in 1999, with no bonus material whatsoever. When the Essential remasters were expanded and reissued in the early 2000s by Sanctuary, Equator had to be passed over once again. However, in 2010, the album finally saw a release in expanded and remastered format, in time for its 25th Anniversary, thus finally ending Sanctuary's remaster-series.This expanded edition adds 4 bonus tracks with the non-album single B-side ”Backstage Girl” as well as a live version of the Heep classic ”Gypsy”, plus single versions of ”Rockarama (Single Edit)” and ”Poor Little Rich Girl (7” Version)”.All are previously unreleased on CD and enhance this rather over-looked Uriah Heep offering.

British classic rock icons URIAH HEEP will release their 25th studio album, "Living The Dream", on September 14 via Frontiers Music, but now will appear in Japan including 2 bonus tracks.The song 'Grazed By Heaven' was co-written by the great Jeff Scott Soto.Uriah Heep are set to commence the recording of their brand new studio album - the 25th in their storied career, which will be titled, appropriately enough, Living The Dream."We have been together for 47 years and we have seen many bands come and go, so in effect we are ‘Still Living The Dream,’ so it was the perfect title for the new album,” says Uriah Heep guitarist and founding member Mick Box.Jay Ruston has been called in to produce the album. Mick continues, “We chose Jay because we admire his work with The Winery Dogs, Stone Sour, Black Star Riders, Paul Gilbert, and Europe. Jay has either produced, mixed or both for these bands, and he will bring a fresh approach to Heep, which we are very much looking forward to."The plan is release the album through Frontiers in fall 2018 (release window subject to change). The band is beyond excited with the material written for the new album, which will include some epic additions to the band’s huge catalog of rock staples and looks forward to sharing it with their fans around the world.In the meantime, the band has announced four Canadian tour dates, with more shows in the works. "The mighty Heep are proudly able to tour in over 61 countries and we look forward to a packed touring schedule in 2018. Along with Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Nazareth, Uriah Heep is one of the most successful and longest-serving hard rock bands from Great Britain.With "Chaos & Colour" the follow-up album to "Living the Dream" 2018 will be released in 2023.The first audible track of the album "Save Me Tonight" shows that Uriah Heep are far from being old iron, but still deliver decent rock.Uriah Heep light it up with a furious return after the restrictions of the pandemic with an essential new album full of power and joy.Having finally seen Uriah Heap live for first time as special guests of Saxon in January 2022, it was a suitably jaw dropping moment that I will always remember. I was mesmerised and blown away by the sheer enjoyment the band were having on stage. Therefore, the opportunity to review this album was most welcome, as my Heep collection is surprisingly small compared to other bands of the same era (Deep Purple and Black Sabbath specifically).‘Save Me Tonight’ kicks off the album and is a suitably full on opening number. This does not sound like a band going through the motions, but more like a band throwing down a challenge to all comers. A catchy tune and lyric fully justifies it’s use as the debut single. Expect the airwaves to be lit up as this blasts from your radio or listening device and shame on any radio stations that don’t play it!‘Silver Sunlight’ keeps the pace going, Bernie Shaws vocals are tremendous (as they are throughout the album) and the whole song screams ‘second single’! The challenge to other bands is still there, but this a band sounding triumphant and there is no point in resisting, just let the sound wash over you.‘Hail the Sunrise’ has plenty of keyboards from Phil Lanzon swirling throughout a song about stone circles and the solstice. This is classic Heep and if your stereo is not turned up by now then you know what to do – turn it up to 11! Mick Box delivers a great guitar solo and this song should be fantastic live.‘Age Of Changes’ kicks off with vocal harmonies and canters along at a fair pace that would put many other bands to shame. Keyboards and guitar breaks are superb. Drumming from Russell Gilbrook and bass from from Dave Rimmer underpin the song. Whilst I am repeating myself this should also be fantastic live and its certainly one of my favourites on the album but I should warn you now, this is an album chock full of great music!Mick Box gives us a great guitar riff as ‘Hurricane’ opens up. This is pure rocker of a song. Sometimes less is more, and this song is fits that perfectly.‘One Nation, One Sun’ is described as ‘ a journey of soaring balladic contemplation’. I have little to add to that except considering it is over 7 minutes long, it holds the attention in the most delightful way.‘Golden Light’ picks up the pace again with those keyboards from Phil Lanzon pumping out the riffs alongside Mick Boxes guitar. This is one of those majestic Uriah Heep songs and guess what – I bet it sounds fantastic live!‘You’ll Never Be Alone’ clocks in at just under 8 minutes, the song ebbs and flows whilst it tells its story. An album highlight, this is another classic Uriah Heep piece, really kicking into gear at about the 4 minute mark when heads should shake and fists punch the air before dropping back again to round out the song.‘Fly Like An Eagle’ gives us guitar, synths, drums and bass driving a mystic tale of meditation powered by Bernie Shaws vocal. Synth and guitar breaks intertwine and the song almost ends too quickly. It is just under 4 minutes long and so perhaps live we will hear a longer version or maybe I am just getting greedy!‘Freedom to Be Free’ is however, over 8 minutes long, and fills that time with great vocals and fantastic instrumental breaks from the band. In places the song really motors along (but elsewhere drops away to almost silence) and quite honestly, yes, it will be a fantastic live set piece to highlight the individual members of the band.‘Closer to Your Dreams’ is the final track on the album, and its a full on rocker in the mold of ‘Easy Living’. Keyboards pump along and the song – like the entire album – is full of optimism. There’s a great guitar solo and you can visualise the band throughly enjoying themselves as they hammered this one out in the studio.Having been around for over 50 years, it is unsurprising that Uriah Heep are able to produce a new album, but perhaps what will be exciting for existing fans is that they are able to to produce dramatic new material like this. The album is full of familiar sounding songs, yet they capture a sense of urgency and freshness that still keeps the band relevant for a potential new audience. The band capture that pure enjoyment of making music perfectly. It is an excellent album that rewards repeating playing, ideally at a decent volume! Staggeringly, on top of all that, the entire album could be played in the live environment, theres no filler anywhere to be heard!So don’t delay, get on and order or buy your copy now, although leave one for me!It is only January, yet 2023 has opened with 3 tremendous albums – ‘Chaos and Colour’ from Uriah Heep, Iggy Pops ‘Every Loser’ and King Krakens debut ‘MCLXXX’.Each one is a potential contender for album of the year, yet each is musically diverse from the other. It is truly fantastic to be able to soak up all this new music and of course it is brilliant that bands are still actually producing new music rather than resting on their laurels.With albums from Metallica and Rival Sons (among others) due this year, 2023 could be another golden year, comparing with the early 70s and early 80s when the album ruled.

Japanese label BELLE ANTIQUE / Ｍａｒｑｕｅｅ has started a beautiful 2026 reissue campaign of early URIAH HEEP albums pressed on SHM-CD, fully remastered, and adding rarities / previously unreleased material, all presented in a mini-LP format replica.Here we have the last from the series (for the moment), the awesome 1982’s “Abominog” including bonus tracks.By the dawn of the 1980s, Uriah Heep was considered a relic in the heavy metal world and no one was surprised when they disbanded shortly after the ‘Conquest’ album. However, everyone listening received an unexpected surprise when the band returned with a new line-up and a sleek, revamped sound on 1982’s ”Abominog”.Yeah, it wasn’t the terrific ’70s hard rock beast with the classic line-up, but dude, this Eighties updated URIAH HEEP resulted fan-damn-tastic.The new Uriah Heep that debuted on this outing was a different animal from the metal / hard rock ensemble that barnstormed its way through albums like Look At Yourself: echoes of the group’s old style could be heard in the drama and instrumental firepower of the new songs, but the overall sound owed a greater debt to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and harder-rocking AOR groups of the time.New lead vocalist Peter Goalby brought pure magic, The tone is set by opening track “Too Scared to Run,” a dynamic rocker that contrasts its furious guitar-laden verses with a harmony-drenched chorus worthy of Queen. Other sharp rockers in this vein include “Running All Night (With the Lion),” a punchy rocker that pairs an ascending guitar riff with a singalong chorus, and “Hot Persuasion,” a lusty metal opus that sounds like Foreigner gone metal crazy.Elsewhere, the band balances the hard rock with mid-tempo tunes that marry their energy to sweet AOR melodies: “Chasing Shadows” allows new guy John Sinclair’s keyboards to take the lead on a tune that marries power chords to synth pop hooks, while “That’s The Way That It Is” (written by Paul Bliss) became a hit single thanks to its combination of slick harmonies and an insidiously catchy melody.“Abominog” is Uriah Heep updating to a new decade, a necessary new sound, and why not, the radio! While old-school fans were a bit shocked by the LP, the record quickly reveals itself to be one of the most consistent and engaging albums in the group’s lengthy catalog.It’s a diverse bill of fare but it manages to cohere nicely thanks to a tight, unified attack from the band that is built on the synthesis between Mick Box’s thick guitar riffs and John Sinclair’s symphonically layered keyboards.Special note should also be taken of the group’s new vocalist, Peter Goalby: his emphatic vocal style suggests a cross between Lou Gramm and Ronnie James Dio. It fits the music’s powerful-yet-slick style like a glove and provides the emotional intensity necessary to put the songs over the top.In the end, “Abominog” rocks hard enough to please heavy metal addicts but is slick enough to win over AOR fanatics and this combination makes it one of Uriah Heep’s most enduring achievements in the album format.

Japanese label BELLE ANTIQUE / Ｍａｒｑｕｅｅ has started a beautiful reissue campaign of early URIAH HEEP albums pressed on SHM-CD, fully remastered, and adding rarities / previously unreleased material, all presented in a mini-LP format replica.By 1973, Uriah Heep had progressed from an English heavy metal / hard rock band to a worldwide success. For they album “Sweet Freedom” they moved on to a new label (Warner Bros.) and began to explore new styles to flesh out their combination of prog complexity and metallic muscle.The band’s desire to break new ground is established with the lead-off track, “Dreamer”: while it riffs as hard as the band’s past rockers, it adds a surprising element of funkiness into the band’s sound. The gentle, acoustic guitar-dominated “Circus” is another change of pace that pushes the group’s sound in a meditative, folky direction.The group also explores new avenues in the lyrical arena. Instead of the mystical tales that dominated albums like Demons and Wizards, ”Sweet Freedom” offers lyrics designed to appeal to the listener on a personal level: the most stirring example is “Stealin’,” a song about the regrets that come with living a self-obsessed life. These sentiments were combined with a stirring, soulful melody that helped make the song a radio favorite.Another highlight in this vein is the title track, a song that combines lyrics about the price of being free with an organ-fuelled, hymn-like melody. “Seven Stars” takes an exciting riff and rocks all overs with it, and “Pilgrim” is an adventure tale that pushes the group’s excesses to the limit.While “Sweet Freedom” isn’t the group’s finest record, it remains a solid listen for Heepsters and classic rock fans. It’s the classic line up, and it’s all good.

While URIAH HEEP 1974’s seventh studio album “Wonderworld” was not included into the recent 2026 Japanese reissue batch, here’s the SHM-CD mini LP replica remastered reissue from years ago, including 6 bonus tracks, as part of the ＵＮＩＶＥＲＳＡＬ ＭＵＳＩＣ ＪＡＰＡＮ ‘My Generation, My Music – Back To The Rock Years 1973-1977‘ series.”Wonderworld” continues in the vein of previous 1973’S LP ‘Sweet Freedom’, trying to bring Uriah Heep’s appeal to a wider level while still retaining the grandiose trademark elements (the organ-guitar attack, David Byron’s operatic shriek) that got them noticed.The result is an album that is solid, criminally overlooked as always has been compared with the band’s masterpieces Look At Yourself or Demons And Wizards. The hard rock quotient is a little stronger on this album than it was on Sweet Freedom: “Something or Nothing” is a galloping stomp-rocker in the vein of past classics like “Love Machine”, whilst “Suicidal Man” is an organ-fortified speed-rocker that is one of the band’s finest hard rock tunes.On other tracks, the group continues in the experimental vein of Sweet Freedom: “The Shadows and the Wind” tacks a Queen-style round of a cappella harmonies onto its tag, and “We Got We” marries one of the band’s gothic melodies to a funky rhythm track that features some tasty clavinet jamming from Ken Hensley.However, the most successful experiment is “The Easy Road,” an orchestrated romantic ballad that features a lovely, understated vocal performance from David Byron. The title track is powerfully performed, creating some awesome atmospheres and I don’t why, it always reminded me of Deep Purple, and “Dreams” is driven by interesting riffs.”Wonderworld” is another fantastic classic rock album by this impressive band, not to be compared with any of their other LP’s – it rocks in its own right.

While URIAH HEEP 1975’s eighth studio album “Return To Fantasy” was not included into the recent Japanese reissue batch, here’s the SHM-CD replica remastered reissue from years ago, including 6 bonus tracks. This pressing uses the same, latest remastering job also used in the European reissue, however… the bottom end is much better on this SHM.“Return To Fantasy” is the first of the two albums to feature the incredible John Wetton as the new bass player, who replaced Gary Thain in early 1975.After two albums that downplayed their penchant for mysterious sounds and mystical lyrics, Uriah Heep brought these elements back to the fore on 1975’s Return to Fantasy. The resulting album retains the musical experimentation that marked ‘Sweet Freedom’ and ‘Wonderworld’, but has an overall harder-rocking feel.”Return to Fantasy” throws down the gauntlet with the title track, which builds from a tapestry of spooky synthesizer and organ riffs to a thunderous rock tune where the guitar and organ duel over a galloping backbeat laid down by Lee Kerslake. It’s bracing stuff and one of the finest rockers in the Uriah Heep canon.The rest of the ‘first side’ continues in a similarly strong hard rock vein and its other key highlight is “Beautiful Dream,” a song that marries stomping hard rock verses to a spooky, ethereal chorus that sounds like it could have been plucked from a mid-’70s Pink Floyd album.On the second side, Heep give themselves over to experiments that, while listenable, cause the album to lose focus. For instance, “Prima Donna” is a sardonic commentary on the rock & roll world that features a prominent brass section and prominently overdubbed Beach Boys-style harmonies, while “Your Turn to Remember” is the kind of bluesy ballad that seems inoffensive for UH standards. Both songs are fun listening but stray too far from the group’s traditional sound and are too dissimilar to make ”Return to Fantasy” a cohesive experience.Despite that, the group never turns in a less-than-engaging instrumental performance and the consistent quality of their work keeps the album from getting carried away by all the genre-hopping. In the end, ”Return to Fantasy” lacks the coherence of a top-shelf Uriah Heep classic like ‘Demons and Wizards’ but c’mon, this is prime classic rock and remains a strong and likable album that is guaranteed to please the group’s fans.
