Album:

Of the previous stage they remain in the group its main members Silvia Idoate and the guitar Jorge Olloqui."Second Chance" was produced by Jorge Olloqui himself and has been mixed and mastered by Erik Martensson (Eclipse). The distribution has been run by The Fish Factory and its publication was the 31 of March of this same year.Once we have reviewed the more technical data, we are going to start debugging the album. As soon as we start we see clearly that XTASY proposes a Hard Rock with good melodies and that flirts at times with Heavy Metal.Topic Theme. The first topic is "Into the Fire" Which is also the one chosen as the first single from which you can see the video below. It starts with epic air in a brief keyboard intro until the guitars break in and the song takes shape. It is curious because it is not the songs that I liked the most of the album and I even notice Silvia somewhat loose with respect to the instrumental volume of the song. Still it's pretty good and it's just warming up."One in a million" Is a more powerful theme than the previous one, with a refrain that engages and as it happens throughout the album, everything is adorned with some fantastic choirs. With "Under the gun" We have a super melodic theme in which we can see Erik's hand and the Eclipse touch that impresses his mixes. One of the great moments of the album and that opens the doors to the high point of the work from my point of view. That the Vixen come!"Said and Done" Brings us to the best times of the Vixen Wow what a time !. A song to sing and dance live in which Silvia in this subject expresses all its range of voice, with certain torn turns that give a macarra and molón air. Also notice in this subject especially the hand of Erik or the influence that the guys of Eclipse have been able to have in the band these years.A slightly more modern sound but always respecting the melodic facet comes with "Broken Heart".Touch a little rest and we get to the ballad. At first I heard it strange that it will not reach the sixth track, but finally came with "Fallen Angels". Structure quite typical of this type of cuts, but very well spun. ccompanied in addition by a great interpretation of Silvia along with those choirs that throughout the LP are to a high level."Get Out" We put the batteries back, another powerful theme beyond the melodic Hard Rock with a rhythmic cane base.Xtasy-second-chance.Hard Rock, AOR and Heavy Metal form this collection of 11 tracks."Second Chance" Is the theme that gives title to the album and may not be the song that most engages, but has a very careful and detailed instrumental composition. It's the kind of song that I call "Top Secret", since like in the film each new revision that is done is a new detail."Speed of Light" Is a very interesting and complete composition. Good guitars and keyboards, a catchy chorus and omnipresent choruses."Open your eyes" Is a half-time that take back the more AOR style with cleaner guitars and a very marked melodic load.Everything ends with "Never surrender" Which raises the pitch over the previous cut to put a pure Hard Rock label on the album.

Style : Melodic Hard Rock , Female vocals
Country : Spain
Audio : 320 kbps + scans

Bio:

“Xtasy” was born in 2011 as a Studio Project between Silvia (vocals, keyboards) and Jorge (guitar, bass, keyboards). Both together started to work in several songs which were recorded between Dec. 2011 and Dec. 2013. After finishing the first album, they decide to create a real band. The first CD called "Revolution" was mixed and mastered by Erik Martensson (Eclipse, W.E.T., Nordic Union...) at "Blowout Studios" and was released in October 2014 through Melodic Rock Records worldwide having nice Reviews from the whole world.During 2014 and 2015, Xtasy played 23 Gigs over Spain in his "Revolution Tour" supporting bands like Helix, Dare, Tigertailz or Spanish icons Barón Rojo and Obús. Xtasy also played at the Hard Rock Attack Tour !! as Special Guest from Eclipse in which the Swedish Band Toxic Rose opened the shows. In 2016, Xtasy returns to the studio and recorded his second album called "Second chance", in which, once again Erik Martensson mixed and mastered the songs. The release date for "Second chance" was the 31st of March 2017 through The Fish Factory in Spain, Anderstein Music in Japan and the German label The Junction worldwide. The band started his "Second Chance Tour" playing with Eclipse, Hardline or Ammunition among others all over Europe. Xtasy also played major Festivals in Spain like "Leyendas del Rock" with Nightwish, Mr. Big, Saxon, Warlock or Kamelot. The “Second Chance Tour” was finished in February 2019 after 36 Gigs.In 2019 the band wrote his third album, working together with Erik Martensson as co-wirter and once again mixed and mastered the songs. The new album called “Eye of the storm” will be released somewhere in 2020 Q1 worldwide through Metalapolis Records and Bickee Music in Japan.

Album:

Whether you consider Spain’s female fronted band Xtasy melodic Hard Rock or Heavy Metal, fans of both genre’s will find a few real gems here on their 3rd album Eye of the Storm. What started out in 2013 as a studio project with guitarist Jorge Olloqui and singer/keyboardist Silvia Idoate has become a solid, hard working metal band that have turned it up a notch for the fans here in 2020.The opening track “Die Young” kicks off the album with tight, catchy riffs, and snappy double kicks to put this first track squarely in the Heavy Metal genre. Jorge Olloqui’s fluid guitar solo works perfectly with the strong anthemy vocals by Silvia Idoate. This cut is definitely in the right slot at #1, and is the strongest cut on the record. “Play with Fire” follows with it’s straight ahead Rock feel and strong choruses, making you tap your foot and sing along. This track lands closer to the Hard Rock genre, and is a solid contender in the #2 slot. The title cut “Eye of the Storm” draws us a little closer to Heavy Metal again, and has lots of hooks to keep you listening. The album has a mix that reminds us of the late, great 80s Metal with it’s big reverbs, deep delays on the vocals and punchy 4/4 beats, and “Perfect Strangers” continues with this theme. As the 4th track “Welcome to My World” kicks off, we are back in melodic Hard Rock territory, and the change of tempo here is welcome. As the album progresses, we encounter a lot of the same tempos and beats in the songs that makes us yearn for a little more variety, and starts to detract a bit. The first 4 tracks are definitely the strongest on the record, though all the songs are well done. The one thing that this album could use is a much louder mix on Silvia Idoate’s vocals. She seems to be just under the guitars throughout the whole album. When you are doing melodic Hard Rock (or any melodic rock/metal) the singer should dominate the mix so that we can understand all of the words and get hooked by not only the melodies, but also the message that the band is putting out there. Idoate’s voice is strong enough to be up front in the mix, and would be much more powerful with less reverb and delay. Great singers rarely need these things except as a bit of seasoning to ‘spice’ things up here and there.Overall, this is a very solid album that could use a little better production to really showcase their talents, along with a little more variety in the tempos. Keep your eye on this band, as they are only getting better with every album.

Line Up:

Silvia Idoate - Vocals
Jorge Olloqui - Guitar
Chema Herrero - Guitar
David Clavero - Bass
Gari Irazu - Drums

Erik Martensson (Eclipse, Nordic Union, W.E.T.) - Mixed and mastered
