MelodicRock Records is once again tapping into the magic that is Sweden’s reservoir of talent to bring you a monster debut album from one of the country’s best young bands. We’re very excited to announce the signing of Rian, a melodic rock trio from Stockholm. Rian’s sound is a unique combination of 80s AOR with a modern American rock sound.The guys have spent the last year working on their debut album "Out Of The Darkness" with producer Daniel Flores (Mind’s Eye, Find Me, The Murder Of My Sweet). Frontman Richard Andermyr was a fan of Daniel’s work and wanted to see if he could imagine mixing their recordings. After listening to the demos, he instantly understood the potential and said that he was ready not only to mix, but also to produce and to record their album.The result is "Out Of The Darkness", a powerful, melodic rock record that is filled with hooks, harmonies and a gritty edge that gives them an original sound. Their influences are many, including Bon Jovi, Chicago, Dokken, FM, Gary Moore, Giant, Journey, Metallica, Skid Row, Toto, Van Halen, Warrant, Whitesnake and Winger.Richard Andermyr discovered his songwriting skills in the late 90s. In 2000 he moved to the USA for studies and teamed up with metal band Black Prizm. Back in Sweden Richard formed the hard rock band Whisperwave, who reached the finals in the Emergenza Festival two years in a row and were invited by Europe’s Ian Haugland to play live on the Swedish radio station “Rockklassiker”.After spending some years playing covers, writing new material and building up his home studio, Richard teamed up with drummer Jan Johansson (Flower Punch, Kitto) in a new cover band. The musical connection was instant. Jan having heard some of Richard’s recordings, convinced him they needed to quit the cover scene and focus on original melodic rock. After auditioning several bassists, they found the right bass player in Jonas Melin (Asparagus, U R in Hot Water) and the line-up was complete. The guys rehearsed and recorded demos in Richard’s basement. In the beginning of 2016 they started to see a strong album forming. They were right.

Having signed to Frontiers Music Srl in the summer of 2020, the Swedish melodic rock combo RIAN will release their second album, ‘Twenty-Three’, on 16th July.“Music is all about creating feelings. On this album we wanted to give credit to the desperate feeling we got listening to music when we were much too young to understand it,” states vocalist/guitarist Richard Andermyr.‘Twenty-Three’ took shape under the direction of producer Daniel Flores (Find Me, The Murder Of My Sweet), with its songs based on melodies and lyrics written by Andermyr then crafted into songs arranged together with drummer Jan Johansson and subsequent additional input from bassist Jonas Melin and lead guitarist Tobias Jakobsson.In regard to the album’s first single, ‘Stop’, Andermyr explains that “I wrote it in my living room, alternating between acoustic guitar and my old upright piano. Janne added cowbell, Jonas came up with this cool bass riff and Tobias went crazy on the Strat. In the studio, Daniel filled in the blanks on keyboards.This all lifted the song from a nice rock track to the first single of the album.RIAN released a well received debut album, ‘Out Of The Darkness’, in 2017, prior to Jakobsson joining the band, then made a blistering live debut the following year with the guitarist’s amazing skills helping to unveil the RIAN 2.0 sound.“Our sound can be explained as a modern version of classic melodic rock music, the way it was produced in the second half of the ’80s,” adds Andermyr.The sound is American, but the melodies and chord progressions have very strong Swedish roots. Influences such as Bon Jovi, Dokken, Europe, Queensrÿche, Survivor and Winger can be heard in the sound, but also the more modern vibes of the likes of Alter Bridge have a presence in our music.

Swedish melodic rockers Rian have announced the upcoming release of their third studio album, "Wings", on August 4, 2023. The inception of the band dates back to 2017 when first album "Out Of The Darkness" was released independently. The album garnered positive reviews, particularly in Europe. The band's growth was fueled by live performances commencing in 2018, as well as the addition of lead guitarist Tobias Jakobsson. Between 2018 and 2020, new songs were crafted, drawing inspiration from the melodious harmonies and lyrics penned by vocalist/guitarist Richard Andermyr.
