The GRAHAM BONNET BAND, the new project formed by legendary hard rock vocalist Graham Bonnet (RAINBOW, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, ALCATRAZZ, IMPELLITTERI), has released an exclusive downloadable six-song EP titled "Escape From Alcatrazz : Alive In Japan" via Facebook. The tracks will be available individually throughout the week starting July 20.GRAHAM BONNET BAND recently released a two-song single titled "My Kingdom Come", the title track of which was written by none other than Russ Ballard, who previously collaborated with Graham on such hit singles as RAINBOW's "Since You've Been Gone" and on Graham's solo album "Line-up" from 1981. This collaboration marked the first time the two have worked together since 1990 (FORCEFIELD's "Let The Wild Run Free").The second new track titled "The Mirror Lies" is a group composition that shows that Graham and his new bandmates have no plans to slow down any time soon.Drums for the two new songs were performed by legendary progressive metal drummer Mark Zonder (WARLORD, ex-FATES WARNING).Also featured are keyboardists Derek Sherinian (ex-DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER) on the title track, and Eric Ragno (THE BABYS) on "The Mirror Lies".The new songs were produced by band guitarist Conrado Pesinato and mixed and mastered by Alessandro Del Vecchio.

This Japanese Edition will hit the streets tomorrow.This new studio album offers new songs where Bonnet - in very good form - lays down his inimitable vocals over a selection of tunes full of great hooks and melodies.The Graham Bonnet Band have capitalised on the success of their first album, 'The Book', and Graham Bonnet's triumphant contribution to the Michael Schenker Fest by quickly following up with 'Meanwhile, Back In The Garage'.Bonnet has continued his habit of writing songs that are a bit off-kilter to the normal Rock topics, this time covering a multitude of subjects such as gun law, reincarnation and death.In conjunction with this atypical subject matter, the music is not quite solely Hard Rock and not quite Progressive – instead, it's a platter of interesting heavy-ish tracks featuring Bonnet's unmistakable voice.The album certainly rings of the '80s Alcatrazz years. There are riffs galore (e.g. on 'Incest Outcest U.S.A.' and the Steve Vai-esque 'The House') to add weight to the Alcatrazz reference; the change of pace and unusual verse patterns hark back to those days.Bonnet has mentioned that he sees Russ Ballard as his talisman since the success in 1979 of 'Since You Been Gone', (the solo hit that never was), 'S.O.S.' and minor hit 'Liar'.In recent years, Ballard supplied the epic 'My Kingdom Come' which became the first official release from The Graham Bonnet Band. To keep the tradition going, Ballard has penned for this new album the killer track 'Livin' In Suspicion' - and if this was thirty years ago, it would have been a hit!The album also contains a cover in the shape of 'We Don't Need Another Hero' (Tina Turner / Mad Max movie) which, although a slightly strange choice, actually comes over pretty well.Throughout, skilled guitarist Joe Tafolla spices up the album as his fast and bright playing adds to the songs without dominating them, while Kurt James supplies adept guitar work in the aforementioned 'Livin' In Suspicion'.Major kudos must go to fellow Alcatrazz-ian Jimmy Waldo with the keyboards being very up-front in the mix, thus providing that special touch to proceedings. The energetic rhythm pairing of Mark Benquechea and Beth-Ami Heavenstone create the bedrock for the at times complex songs to take shape.As for Bonnet's voice, it is instantly recognisable; anyone who knows Bonnet in the studio will testify that he gives his all and this comes over on this album, which is an astonishing fifty years after his first hit – 'Only One Woman'.The power is still there, but he knows how to control it during the quieter parts (like the start to the big ballad 'The Crying Chair').This spectacular new album proves that the previous 'The Book' was not a fluke; with another European tour this summer, The Graham Bonnet Band are certainly here for some time to come.

Vocalist Graham Bonnet has been busy of late, both solo and with his early 80s band the resurrected Alcatrazz. Studio, live and archive, and each one essential listening. With bands like The Marbles, Rainbow, MSG, Alcatrazz and Imperlitteri to add to his solo career, he’s never stopped working.My introduction to Bonnet was his 1981 solo hit ‘Night Games’ and its performance on Top Of The Pops, with Gillan on the same bill. That was from his first solo album ‘Line-Up’, featuring Micky Moody, Jon Lord and Cozy Powell, amongst others. I’ve been a fan of Graham Bonnet ever since, his appearance on Rainbow’s 1979 classic ‘Down To Earth’ LP a bonus. And this album proves that Bonnet’s voice is as powerful as ever.The live set kicks off with Rainbow’s ‘Eyes Of The World’ (a track I’ve seen Bonnet perform with comrade Don Airey) – and there is simply not a better track by Bonnet. Full Stop. A longer and very VERY powerful epic, it was by far the best track of Rainbow’s more commercial period. And to hear it live again now is a spine tingling moment.‘California Air’ has a more commercial feel; it’s solid, and Bonnet has a solid band here. A nice bit of shred mid song.Then it’s to the ‘Line Up’ LP, and again a commercial track but ‘SOS’ is always a good listen, and ‘Night Games’ is a pure class classic of a rock/pop song. Between this and the opener, the money is well worth your money alone. The Imperlitteri track ‘Stand In Line’ is next up, showing a more metal side to Graham’s career. MSG’s ‘Dancer’ and ‘Assault Attack’ get an airing too – showcasing the singer’s versatility and strength of catalogue.Additional Rainbow tracks include ‘Since You Been Gone’, ‘All Night Long’ and ‘Lost In Hollywood,’ the latter a blistering take that really sets the crowd going.Bonnet introduces many of the tracks, there a few words, but he’s not one to converse with the crowd, like the likes of Dickinson do. But the music is just fantastic.The DVD, with bonuses, shows the gig nicely. Bonnet still moves around the stage smartly dressed. For a gentleman of 69 as he was then, performing like this and with that power in voice, hats off and glass raised. Seriously.The video I may return to once or twice, but the live audio is classic and will get many a spin here. Could do with being a bit longer, but a fine set all the same.

The Graham Bonnet Band has announced the upcoming release of a new studio album, "Day Out In Nowhere". On this new opus Graham is joined by longtime bandmates Beth-Ami Heavenstone (bass) and Conrado Pesinato (guitar), as well as keyboardist Alessandro Bertoni and drummer Shane Gaalaas (Michael Schenker, B'z). Graham Bonnet (born 23 December 1947) is an English rock singer and songwriter. He has recorded and performed as a solo artist and as a member of several hard rock and heavy metal bands including Rainbow, the Michael Schenker Group, Alcatrazz, and Impellitteri.Sometimes titled 'the most powerful voice in rock' by his fans,Bonnet is known for his powerful voice and wide vocal range.His singing has been noted as 'very loud' by both his contemporaries and himself,and he claims to be a self-taught singer with 'no discipline for lessons'.Bonnet was born in Skegness in 1947.He had his first hit single with the duo, The Marbles in 1968, with the single "Only One Woman" (Polydor 56 272), which reached Number 5 in the UK Singles Chart.This and its follow-up were both written by Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees who had recorded in Australia with Bonnet bandmate from The Marbles, Trevor Gordon.Bonnet then quit to do advert jingles. He appeared in the 1974 British comedy film, Three for All as lead singer of 'Billy Beethoven', a fictional band, along with several notable UK comedy personalities and his then partner Adrienne Posta, although his character's lines were limited to only two words.In 1977 he released an eponymous album, which was certified gold in Australia. On this new opus Graham is joined by longtime bandmates Beth-Ami Heavenstone (bass) and Conrado Pesinato (guitar), as well as keyboardist Alessandro Bertoni and drummer Shane Gaalaas (Michael Schenker, B'z).
