Bio:

David A Saylor moved to the UK from the US in the early 1980s to concentrate on his music career, playing new wave pop and fronting various melodic rock bands in the Birmingham and Midlands area. His sample of influence ranges from Asia, Journey, Boston and Foreigner, and Survivor and all styles of classic rock. In 1987 David co-formed the band Push UK and came very close to securing a major label deal. The 1990s saw a change for him in a new music direction and he found success as a solo artist in the Spanish speaking territories and he achieved music awards and gold records. Never turning his back on the declining state of melodic rock, he contributed backing vocals to the following albums: Atlantic – Power, Siam – Language of Menace, Wraith – Riot. 2010 saw the original demos made by the Push UK title Strange World pressed officially onto CD by newly formed label AOR BLVD Records of London UK. David A Saylor’s ‘City Of Angels’ delivers a majestic solo album which will please any serious lover of the genre of pure AOR!The following year, Saylor ventured into the studio to record the tracks for this brand new CD “City Of Angels”. Despite the years having rolled on, David has not lost any quality around his voice. He’s sounding as fine as ever, and the material on this CD is pure AOR of the best pedigree.Saylor’s voice and musical direction has similarities to guys like Jim Jidhed (Alien) or Chris Irvine, while there are musical references to aorsters icons FM and Heartland.“City Of Angels” is a beauty of an album that not a single AOR fan would want to miss. The songwriting, the atmosphere, the delicious melodies come straight from the classic ’80s AOR book. The sound and production is top notch and easily holds its own amongst bigger budget projects these days.Kudos to David A. Saylor for this lovely sonic trip back to the glorious eighties.

Album:

As pure a traditional AOR record as you could hope to hear in 2014.For those not familiar with him, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist David A. Saylor moved from the US to the UK in the early 1980s, where a varied musical career included being the singer for eighties Melodic Rockers Push UK. After the Indie-label AOR Blvd put out an album of old Push UK demos in 2010, Saylor followed it up with the well-received solo album 'City Of Angels' in 2012. 'Kiss Of Judas' is his second solo album for the label, and again he's done a fine job on what must have been a tight budget. As pure a traditional AOR record as you could hope to hear in 2014, 'Kiss...' is a short, eight-track offering that provides just five new tracks written by Saylor himself. However, it's quality over quantity with perfectly crafted guitars and subtle keyboard frills on 'If Only', 'True Reflection' and 'Tonight', each with Saylor's rich vocals giving them an air of old-school AOR like it used to be. The gentle ballad 'Ana' is another winner, whilst 'Now I'm Free' has a little more edge to it and the brilliant title-track is everything that's great about well-written AOR and comes from the pen of ex-Blackfoot Sue, Liner and Outside Edge twin brothers Tom and David Farmer. The final two songs, 'Stand Up And Fight' and 'Strange World', are acoustic versions of songs from the posthumous Push UK album, and here they are beautifully re-imagined with strong vocals, exquisite guitar and layer upon layer of textured backing vocals. This website uses cookies to help us give you the best experience when you visit. Harking back to a time when song-writing was king, David A. Saylor has created another fine example of a genre that sadly used to have more finesse and style than it does today, and for that he should be applauded.
