Europe is a Swedish hard rock/heavy metal band formed in Upplands Väsby, Stockholm in 1979 under the name Force by vocalist Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum, bassist Peter Olsson and drummer Tony Reno. Since its formation, Europe has released nine studio albums, three live albums, three compilations and nineteen videos.Europe rose to international fame in the 1980s with its third album The Final Countdown (1986), which became a substantial commercial success and sold over three million copies in the United States.The band was a pioneering force in the glam metal/blues metal genres and their third album,The Final Countdown, is considered a masterpiece of the genres. Europe was one of the most successful rock acts of the 1980s and sold over 20 million albums worldwide.The band has achieved two top 20 albums on the Billboard 200 chart (The Final Countdown and Out of This World) and two top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart ("The Final Countdown" and "Carrie").Europe went on hiatus in 1992, reunited temporarily for a one-off performance in Stockholm on New Year's Eve 1999 and announced an official reunion in 2003. Since then the band has released four albums, Start from the Dark (2004), Secret Society (2006), Last Look at Eden (2009) and Bag of Bones (2012). Europe will release its tenth album, War of Kings, in 2015.The band is mainly influenced by Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, UFO and Michael Schenker Group.

EUROPE's place as a legendary hard rock band was platinum-stamped early in their career. Having enjoyed an explosive period of worldwide success in the '80s (under-pinned by their hit album and single "The Final Countdown"), 2015's "War Of Kings" has seen them take full advantage of the global groundwork EUROPE have keenly re-established over the last few years.Recently, it was decided that EUROPE's momentous live appearance at Wacken Open Air festival should not only be filmed and recorded, but released as a DVD and Blu-ray. EUROPE's "War Of Kings Special Edition" will include the original "War Of Kings" CD plus the Wacken 2015 DVD and Blu-ray, and will hit stores in North America on December 4 via Hell & Back Recordings/UDR Music. The set will come in three formats (2-disc ecolbook CD+DVD, 2-disc ecolbook CD+ Blu-ray, limited-edition deluxe package with "War Of Kings" CD + DVD + Blu-ray and photobook), and an audio-only edition of the Wacken performance will also be available via digital format. Pre-orders will available beginning next Wednesday, October 21.In celebration of this release, EUROPE will embark on the "War Of Kings" U.S. tour in January. The trek begins in San Jose, California on January 19 and hits 16 cities before coming to a close in Atlanta, Georgia on February 6.
