Bio:
Kelly Simonz started his career as solo artist, but Blindfaith was formed as a band in 2000. Osaka-born Kelly Simonz is a Japanese guitar virtuoso with a Guitar Institute Of Technology pedigree. He issued his debut CD in 1998 and a CD called Silent Scream a year later through his own Faith Records. This demo was later re-issued through Lion Music. He later released a 35th birthday concert DVD.
Album:
Kelly Simonz such an amazing, versatile, original guitarist and musician. Awesome blend of virtuosity with pop sensibility in a style uniquely his own. Without doubt, fans of shred guitar will enjoy.Simonz even takes on vocal duties, in which he does a rather impressive job, sounding somewhere between a smooth Goran Edman or a really smooth Joe Lynn Turner. The result of this combined efforts of one multi-instrumentalist is well within the confines of early Malmsteen dogma, listening like a satisfying blend of the keyboard tinged and heavily 80s infused “Trilogy” and the rough and sleazy “The Seventh Sign”. There is a disproportionate amount of instrumental work on here as well that fits with the outfit’s situation at this point, but Simonz has a keen sense of melody that keeps them all from falling into the exercise in sameness that tends to wander into Yngwie’s shred happy works.
