Year : 1986 (AOR Heaven Classix Remastered Edition 2013)
Style : Melodic Hard Rock , AOR
Country : United Kingdom
Audio : 320 kbps + all scans
Size : 97 mb

Bio:

Formerly known as Blackfoot Sue and Liner, this UK band switched to the name Outside Edge in 1984 to pursue an AOR direction. Comprising Tom Farmer (vocals, bass), Eddie Galga (guitar), Pete Giles (keyboards) and Dave Farmer (drums), they signed to Warner Brothers Records and released a self-titled debut in 1985. This was Americanized melodic rock, but featured rough and ragged vocals from Farmer, in contrast to the musical stylization. Running Hot followed in 1986 and was produced by Terry Manning (of ZZ Top fame), but Outside Edge were still unable to break through on a commercial level. The Farmer brothers left in 1989 and the remaining duo recruited new members to become Little Wing.

Album:

Alongside FM, SHY or Virginia Wolf, OUTSIDE EDGE was one of the most representative acts from the British Melodic Rock / AOR scene during the ’80s. AOR Heaven Records released via their Classix Series a superb remastered reissue of their second album, 1986’s “Running Hot“, a must have in your collection. Now out of print, as requested, here’s in HQ.Having tried their luck in bands like Gift and the underrated Blackfoot Sue, British brothers Tom & David Farmer and guitarist Eddie Golga decided to go for a more Melodic Rock approach and adopted the moniker OUTSIDE EDGE.At the beginning of the ’80s they lived and played in France for a while and it was the French department of WEA that picked them up for the release of a self-titled debut album in 1984.At the time the band was criminally ignored elsewhere in the Melodic Rock world, but things changed for the better when they gained the support slot for a Bryan Adams UK tour a year later. These live presentations resulted in a record deal with 10 Records (a subsidiary of Virgin), and two albums worthy of your attention. The label put a lot of money into the production of Outside Edge’s debut with them and recommended Terry Manning to produce, a man who already worked with Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top.Under his experienced guide the band recorded “Running Hot” in 1986, a wonderful slice of Melodic Rock AOR in the classic British mid-Eighties fashion very similar to Airrace, Virginia Wolf and Shy, plenty of soaring melodies, catchy choruses and lots, lots of awesome keyboard flourishes. So it’s no wonder that the album includes such memorable tracks like opener “Hearbeat Away”, the rocking’ Melodic Rock blast of title track “Running Hot” or the soulful “Wait”.There’s other gems in the keyboard-driven “Louella”, the atmospheric “Don’t Be A Hero”, the elegant midtempo “Heartbreaker” or the AOR diamond “You”.AOR Heaven Classix had the honor to digitally remaster for the first time both classic Outside Edge albums with stupendous results. This “Running Hot” remaster sounds crystal clear like never before, warm in frequencies and slightly ‘reverberated’, very well balanced in all the sonic spectrum. Some kind of a Melodic Rock / AOR cult classic, “Running Hot” is a must have into any fan’s of the genre collection.

Album:

"More Edge" by OUTSIDE EDGE is remastered by AOR Heaven Records for their 'AOR Heaven Classix' series.A true Classic British AOR album in all its sonic glory. After their (excellent as well) previous effort, the band's next target was America and they flew over to the US to record "More Edge" with famous Canadian producer Terry Brown behind the desk. The result was this awesome, heavenly keyboard-driven AOR album that if you wouldn't have known better, you would have thought Outside Edge was as a typical Canadian AOR band than from Great Britain."More Edge" is simply superb, all tracks are winners, from the melodic opening anthem "Shooting Straight From The Heart", through the incredible "Heaven Tonight", to the album's closing track "Never Too Late", a monster melodic midtempo tune.Sadly enough the album got shelved after their label 10 Records operation was decamped to Los Angeles. Waiting for what was (not) to come, the band relocated to Europe again and eventually drifted apart. It was only in 2000 that "More Edge" came to the surface finally released by Virgin Scandinavia, though, with a direct rough transfer from the original master tapes. Now AOR Heaven Classix is making true justice to this pure AOR diamond, with a proper digital remastering which sounds million bucks.
