Bio:

The guitarist and composer Jean Paul was born in Orihuela (Alicante) in 1984. After being part of different bands, he decided to start his solo career in 2014, creating a project he called Dream Vision. He has released five demos, featuring great musicians from Murcia and Alicante and interspersing songs in English and Spanish. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary, he decided to gather some of these songs and compose new ones to release his first professional album with collaborators of international and national renown. The album has 18 tracks with the participation of 46 artists such as: Danny Vaughn (Tyketto), Göran Edman (ex Yngwie Malmsteen), Isra Ramos (ex Avalanch), José Rubio (Ronnie Romero), Ferdy Doernberg (Axel Rudi Pell), Manuel Ibáñez (Medina Azahara), Javi Díez (ex Mägo de Oz), Santi Novoa (Warcry) or Hugo Bistolfi (Rata Blanca) among many others from bands as different as 91 Suite, Nexx, Hackers, Ankhara, Muro, Panzer or Dark Moor.

Album:

JEAN PAUL’S DREAM VISION is the project of Spaniard guitarist & songwriter Jean Paul which began more than a decade ago with some demos and singles. Jean Paul passion is classic late ’70s / ’80s melodic hard rock & AOR driving, of course, by strong guitars but also with emphasis on the vocals. We are presenting in exclusive here the international debut CD of Jean Paul’s DREAM VISION, “Reminiscences“, released at the very end of last year (ready for Christmas) properly distributed 2026 – finely produced by him and Johnny Lorca (guitar for hard rockers Hitten) and featuring a stellar cast of the biggest names from the genre.Read carefully: on lead vocas we have Johnny Gioeli (Hardline, Axel Rudi Pell) on 3 songs, Steve Overland (FM) on 3 as well, Göran Edman (Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum…), Danny Vaughn (Tyketto), Michael Flexig (Zeno, Uli John Roth), Mick Devine (Seven), Lee Small (Shy, Phenomena, Lionheart, Sweet…), Chema Sales (Lost Wingman), and more.Among the musicians there’s Ken Sandin (Alien, Joe Lynn Turner, Kee Marcello…), Fernando Mainer (Jeff Scott Soto, Jorge Salán…), David Palau (Güru), Tommy Denander (Radioactive, Paul Stanley), Henrik Larson (Bad Habit, Jaded Heart, Masterplan), Chris McCop (Tokyo Motor Fist) and more. Why these renowned musicians agreed to participate? Simply because the material is first class, and mix, production & mastering first rate. We find 15 pretty awesome AOR / Melodic Rock songs capturing the ’80s vibe, varied in style yet cohesive and enjoyable.Musically, “Reminiscences” offers a collection of song with all the hallmarks from classic AOR / hard rock present. The album stands out for its polished sound with meticulous production where emotive vocals, harmonized choruses, and catchy refrain take center stage. As for the instrumentation, powerful yet melodic guitars are present emphasizing carefully crafted solos, along with elegant keyboards and a solid, consistent rhythm section – real drums.“ FLYING AWAY ” opens the album atmospherically, as if the listener was literally taking flight. Hevik Larson’s (Bad Habit) keyboard intro marks this ethereal beginning before the track transforms into an energetic, 80s-style melodic hard rock anthem, full of dynamic riffs and a catchy chorus. Steve Overland’s elegant and unique vocals guide the song, backed by solid guitars where Guru’s David Palau shines in the solo, and Christian Vidal provides additional support. The rhythm section is anchored by Ren Sandin’s bass and Nilver Pérez’s keyboards, completing an expansive opening, laden with layered vocals and a guitar solo that makes the album’s ambition clear from the very first minute.A delicate piano and Johnny Gioeli’s melodic vocals introduce “COME BACK HOME ,” a track that’s more restrained in its rhythm but just as effective. Paco Ventura’s lead guitar adds elegance. Fernando Mainer’s bass , Carlos Álvarez’s keyboards, and Samu Baeza’s drums build a warm and enveloping foundation, shaping a song with a classic AOR essence.Steve Overland appears again on “WALKING IN THE RAIN”. It’s an enveloping midtempo track where Overland once again shines with a sensitive performance, while Johnny Lorca handles both bass and lead guitar. Keyboards reinforce the introspective atmosphere of this song, brimming with feeling and delicacy.Acoustic guitars and and again Steve Overland’s angelic vocals give way to “IN THE STORM”. Overland leads an intense performance that perfectly captures the restless spirit of the song. Manolo Arias guitars, alternating between electric intensity and a flamenco touch courtesy of Johnny Lorca, intertwine with Diego Teruel’s bass and Nilver Pérez’s keyboards to sustain a piece that moves between ballad and midtempo, building tension to a fully cohesive final explosion. With “THIS MUST BE HEAVEN,” the album shines with a soulful track brimming with captivating melodies. The riffs are faster, and Johnny Gioeli’s vocals more raspy than on previous tracks, deliver one of his most intense performances to date. A luminous and highly dynamic track.“DREAM VISION” is the title track of the project. It’s a ballad dominated by Nilver Pérez’s piano and enveloping keyboards, while Gianne Mowatt’s violin elevates the emotional impact of this introspective and deeply sentimental piece. Lee Small delivers a powerful vocal performance, and Johnny Lorca contributes a guitar solo that enters at the end, adding drama to the song.Nilver Pérez’s piano sets the rhythmic pulse of “MY LAST BREATH” from the very beginning, while Dani Rodríguez’s violin reinforces the emotional impact of the opening. Everything points to a ballad, but the song takes a turn midway through, accelerating into a more powerful passage with keyboards reminiscent of the seventies. Göran Edman delivers one of the album’s most intense performances here, accompanied by Jose de Castro “Jopi” on lead guitar and additional vocals from Christian Vidal.Santi Hernández’s drums and bass drive the song powerfully from the very first bar, shaping “FIRE” a straight rocker and dynamic track sustained by a strong groove. Danny Vaughn leads the song with authority, while Tommy Denander’s lead guitar provides class. The song never loses intensity until its final section, when it slows down, as if the fire were slowly beginning to die down.“BECAUSE OF YOU” is a classic-style ballad, dominated by acoustic guitar and piano, where Mick Devine’s voice is particularly expressive. The song builds instrumentally with the introduction of Guillermo Guerrero ’s solo and a choral section that adds collective emotion thanks to a Choir, which provide a distinctive touch. A delicate and meticulously crafted piece.“VEGA” is a fantastic melodic hard rock track, with Michael Flexig delivering an emotive performance. Flexig also co-wrote the song. It’s plenty of great arrangements and an irresistible ZENO feelin all over. The piano and vocals take center stage once again in the opening bars of “LONELY WARRIOR” with Johnny Gioeli narrating a tale of struggle and perseverance. A melodic track with a distinct 80s AOR feel.A handful of tracks is sung in Spanish which adds some excitement. “LEJOS” is the first, and one of the album’s highlights. It kicks off with a fast pace and heavier energy, featuring a brilliant and intense performance by Isra Ramos (Avalanch). Tommy Denander’s solo and Chema García’s keyboards underpin a song that only eases off in its final section, conveying that feeling of finally reaching a destination that seemed distant.“BAJO UN DISFRAZ” is another song in Spanish and, moreover, the longest track on the album. Despite starting with heavy riffs that suggest a more forceful development, the song ends up moving at a slow tempo that ultimately takes its toll. It doesn’t feel long simply because of its length, but because it lacks the dynamism needed to maintain tension throughout. Ángel Belinchón delivers a solid performance, supported by Fran Alonso ‘s guitars and Pablo García ‘s final solo, with Maca on bass and Chris McCop on keyboards holding up a structure that feels too flat for much of the song.“SUEÑO O REALIDAD” another track in Spanish, is a classic hard rock song full of energy and catchy rhythms. The strong Lost Wingman frontman Chema Sales leads the way with a highly expressive vocal performance, supported by Tommy Denander’s guitar. The catchy chorus and steady rhythm reinforce the track’s intensity, restoring momentum to the album’s final stretch, which had been somewhat lost with the previous song. The album closes with “TRAS EL CRISTAL”, an emotive and elegant track featuring a perfectly executed vocal combination by Narciso Tenorio (from Spanish cult AOR act Jupiter), Elizabeth Amoedo, Carlos Pina, and Fernando Pleite. The contrast between male and female voices adds dynamism and personality. It’s a song that feels too short and leaves a wonderful aftertaste.Getting over fifty musicians to collaborate on a single album is a true feat. ‘Reminiscences’ is not just an album, but the result of a shared vision among talented individuals who have placed their trust in Jean Paul’s Dream Vision and contributed their very best to every note. The meticulous and exquisitely crafted production enhances every nuance and allows the sound to be fully defined. The result is a work destined to capture the attention of fans of classic Melodic Hard Rock / AOR world-wide.
