The Trench Dogs came together over beers in a dimly lit pub on the south side of Stockholm - "We all had bad bladders and shared a love of rock n roll" - The Trench Dogs have a groovy little cocktail of influences; rooted deeply in the music freaks who staggered the stage in the past.With members hailing from all corners of the world and each with a unique tale to tell, the music captures the mixed "tradgedy and bliss" of this strange existance... that and the faint smell of piss.

Swedish glam rockers TRENCH DOGS will release their full length debut album "Year Of The Dog" tomorrow August 24, 2018.The group consists of Martini on drums, Andy Hekkandi on vocals, Mattias Johansson on lead guitar, Daniel Ekholm on bass and Howard “Spides” Chapman on rhythm guitar, and plays melodic glammy rock inspired by the Scandinavian scene, but also with British classic influences.Despite the guy's look and the present trend from Scandinavia, Trench Dogs are not a sleaze band. At least not your typical sleaze as it's currently being done in that region of the planet.Trench Dogs started as a band around six years ago in Stockholm, recorded a promising EP (featured here at 0dayrox) and since then added an additional guitarist in Howard Spides Chapman.Having two guitars is a major game changer for Trench Dogs, and this has helped to take things to the next level for the band.Since opener "Homesick Parade" you can feel Trench Dogs are not just sleaze but more timeless Rock 'n Roll. I hear influences from the likes of Dogs D'Amour, Hanoi Rocks or Pretty Vacant, but the guys sound quite original.Then on next song "Montenegro", musically I hear British influences, some kind of Quireboys meets Mott the Hoople, while on "Forgotten Melodies" appears a bit of sleaze, but more in the '70s glam' side of things.They add acoustic guitars for the middle of the road rocker "Rattlin' Bones", while "Awake" is a fun classic rock tune via a foot-tapping rhythm and a vintage guitar sound.More amusement comes with the easy rock n' roll of "The Gin Beat", there's a cool groove n' fuzz on "Kids!" akin New York Dolls, and closer "Buzzards" is a slow acoustic ballad, a bit too long.Trench Dogs are a promising new act from Sweden."Year Of The Dog" is classic rock 'n roll, with classic glam here and there, a dash of sleaze, some tongue-in-cheek lyrics and an overall sense of fun.Two thumbs up.
