Bio:

The band Seraiah was formed in 1985 by drummer Kyle Dietz and guitarist Quinton Gibson (who would later join the band Whitecross). After several changes in its line-up, the band settled with vocalist Brad Beckey and bassist Trace Ferrie (who would later play with the bands Whitecross and Stryper and in Michael Sweet's solo career). In 1988, they released a demo that caught the attention of the record label Pure Metal, and in 1990, they signed on to release their debut album, Carnival World. The album was very well received by the public and critics alike and featured the hit single ‘Rise Up.’ The following year, they toured throughout the United States, building a solid fan base.In 1992, Trace left the band and was replaced by Kirk McKinley, and the band recorded their last self-titled album. The album managed to place two hits in the Top 10 on the radio with the singles ‘No More Lies’ and ‘Time for a Change’.In 1992, the band also opened for Stryper on their ‘Can't Stop the Rock Tour’.

Album:

Debut Seraiah's "Carnival World" (1990) is generally remembered as a fun, catchy glam/sleaze metal album with a strong Motley Crue vibe, praised for its attitude, aggression, and memorable tracks. They were formed in Indiana in 1985 by drummer Kyle Dietz and guitarist Quinton Gibson. They did release a demo in 1989 which as of this writing I haven’t heard yet but I have been told it’s quite good. There were some line-up changes before they finally got a mainstream record deal with Pure Metal for this album. The “single” was Rise Up and I understand it received fairly good airplay on Christian radio stations that dared play metal.Seraiah was another band that listed Bible verses for each song that influenced the song writing. I've always been partial to this as it gives me some insight on what the songs actually mean, especially when you stop to read the song lyrics. Musically this album has really grown on me. I could remember from my cassette days really enjoying the first two songs, but the rest I couldn't remember anything about. Listening to this album again has given me a new appreciation for it. I'm glad I didn't pay $20+ for it, but if I had I still wouldn't have regretted my purchase.I should point out that Seraiah went on to release a second album with a whole new sound. Two of the bands members went on to record another album for Star Song under the band name Kid Promise.
