Bio:

Babylon A.D. is a hard rock band formed in 1986. Babylon A.D. hail from the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Original members, Derek Davis vocalist/songwriter, guitarists and music writers Dan De La Rosa and Ron Freschi, drummer Jamey Pacheco and bassist Robb Reid were all in childhood rival bands. In 1989, Babylon A.D. caught the attention of Arista Records president and industry music mogul Clive Davis, who signed them at a live showcase in Los Angeles.Babylon A.D. self-titled album was released in 1989 and included their hard rock classic hits "Bang Go the Bells", "Hammer Swings Down" and "The Kid Goes Wild", which was the trailer song and video for Orion Pictures movie RoboCop 2. The band scored three number one songs at metal radio and reached gold on their first release. Their sophomore effort "Nothing Sacred", released in 1992 produced two more metal radio chart toppers, "Bad Blood" and "So Savage the Heart". Constant touring throughout the early 1990s and several MTV videos made them one of hard rock fans favorite bands. After spending several years with Arista, the band signed with Apocalypse Records in 1999 and released Live in Your Face, a compilation of live tracks recorded at various cities throughout the United States. The band's next release American Blitzkrieg, soon followed in 2002 and both CDs were well received by critics and fans alike. In 2006, the band released In the Beginning on Apocalypse/Perris Records, which contained songs from the original demo tapes that secured them their record deal with Arista Records. After a long hiatus, the band regrouped with all original members and recorded a new version of their No. 1 metal hit song "Bang Go the Bells" which is now available worldwide from Apocalypse Records.Vocalist and songwriter Derek Davis is currently recording his first studio release (Re-Volt) which is due on January 30, 2012 world wide.In late 2007, Ron Freschi started a project called Syrym, providing a return to the guitar-heavy sound of Babylon A.D.'s debut album. Syrym's self-titled debut was released for digital download on August 16, 2008. The CD version of the album was released October 17, 2008. Their first single, "Warpath," hit stores June 25, 2008.

Album:

Originally released in 1989 BABYLON A.D. self-titled debut album containing the hard rock hits “Bang Go The Bells”, “Hammer Swings Down” and “The Kid Goes Wild” – also featured in the film RoboCop 2 – has been remastered / reissued by Bad Reputation Records. “Babylon A.D. +7 [Bad Reputation Remaster]” also includes as bonus tracks several remixed of these hits previously unreleased on CD.With songs plenty of smokin’ guitar riffs and hard driving rhythms, this album is a must have for fans of the classic hair metal era – in the same vein of Tora Tora, Ratt, Black N’ Blue, etc. Originally known as The Persuaders, Bay Area outfit Babylon A.D. also had to add the A.D. suffix to their moniker after complaints from another group in Chicago with the same name. The Illinois band claimed to have been using the name for around five years, prompting the Oakland outfit to slightly adjust their new name just prior to the release of their eponymous debut with Arista.Formed approximately four years before the release of this debut, singer/songwriter Derek Davis and bass player Robb Reid had been school buddies and put the group together after a good deal of friendly rivalry in other bands. The major label deal arrived after record company showcase gigs in Los Angeles and then Babylon A.D. spent the next year or so writing, including several stints with ex-Surgin man Jack Ponti, a collaboration that accounted for five songs on the Simon Hanhart produced debut record.Babylon A.D. scored valuable heavy radio play with the kick ass rocker ”Bang Go The Bells”. The track ”Kid Goes Wild” features a guest appearance from the late comedian Sam Kinison and was used as a score in Robocop 2.Very good remastering job and the bonus tracks roxx!
