That's the great thing about rock'n'roll, it's been 'old' forever, but it never dies."Recorded during the late spring of the year, the album's creation was thrown into turmoil by the poor health and eventual sad passing of Philip Campbell's father. The situation dictated that Philip needed to be home during some of the scheduled recording time, so Motörhead hired a studio in Wales where Campbell was able to continue working on ideas and record tracks, whilst first Mikkey and Lemmy, and then just Lemmy, laid down the rest of the album in L.A. Being Motörhead, nothing phases them, and with The Wörld is Yours,!the band have triumphed over personal adversity to produce an absolute stormer in this, their 35th year as THE greatest, loudest and just plain goddam coolest band around."Rock'n'roll is a vocation, you do it because it's what you do," concludes Lemmy. The early years of MOTORHEAD are getting a celebratory re-visitation for the 40th anniversary of the band’s classic albums Overkill and Bomber. Both albums were reissued as 2-CD standalone versions – but there’s also a Box Set titled ‘1979‘, including the albums, tour programmes, etc, plus a bonus disc of B-sides, outtakes and rare tracks.A hybrid of punk, rock and heavy metal played with relentless, ear-curdling power, Motörhead were a force of nature propelled by bassist & vocalist Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke and drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor.The alchemy between these three outrageous and utterly immortal men was nothing short of life-changing for millions, and all three shared a wonderful “mad band of brothers” approach to life and music; there was no “off” switch and they became legends as a result.Overkill and Bomber are icons, brain-damagingly brilliant to the nth degree, and their enormous influence still reverberates through all genres of music to this day.A further element of the remastered reissue of these LP’s is to offer Motörfans new, old and in-betweenish the full scope and context of how life was when these classics were being created.1979 was a seismic year for many reasons, and both Overkill and Bomber were written, recorded and toured against a Great Britain dealing with strikes, Margaret Thatcher, football hooliganism plus Buggles and the Bee Gees!This bonus disc makes the release truly complete, including the very hard to find Overkill singles B-sides ‘Too Late Too Late’ and ‘Like a Nightmare’, the quite interesting ‘Bomber (Alternate Version)’, and three songs that didn’t make it into Bomber’s final track list, recorded at the same studio sessions.
