Bio:
The history of the english-german rock band Endfield dates back to the year 1998. Back then, the current singer and frontman Glyn Brookman was drummer for the Jan Josef Liefers Band.Glyn Brookman (London, UK) felt too - like his drumming role models (Phil Collins/Genesis and Dave Grohl/Nirvana) that there was more to come. He decided to start a career as a front singer. Together with his friend and companion Sven Hanke alias Doc, guitarist in a mutual band it soon became obvious: we’ll do this! Until 2006 the two worked more and more on the first own songs. In 2006 they formed the band Endfield, signed a recording contract with “Deutsche Ton” of “MSG Group” and released their debut single “Good Timing”, produced by Fabio Trentini (Guano Apes/H-Blockx) in 2007.Endfield grew further until in 2014 the band was completed during a common jam session at the studio with bassist Stefan Pfaffinger (Ray Charles, Zauberberg, Blues Gang) and drummer/producer Carsten Enghardt (Lionel Ritchie, Billy Preston, Vanilla Ninja). The next chapter of the Endfield success story could be written and was sealed with the production of the new album “Right to the Top”.During the following 18 months, songs for the album were written and recorded in the “1st take Studios”. The band decided to also produce some old songs new. Keyboard player Christof von Haniel (Zillertaler Schürzenjäger) played the entire keyboard tracks on the album, harmonies and sounddesign was also added. Saxophone player Charles Walker (Ron Evans Group) and rapper Breezy were also involved. The production and mastering for “Right to the Top” were finalized in august 2016 at “GKG Mastering”.With his decision to join the band permanent, Keyboarder Toni Jablonski kicked off the first rehearsals in 2017. Endfield are now ready for the stage. The album “Right to the Top” will be released on 3/10/2017 through Music Buy Mail and Cargo Records (DE/UK). The first single is “Not alone”.Endfield SingleFact:„Not Alone” is the name of the first single on the upcoming 2017 Album “Right to the Top” from Endfield. The message this song wants to touch on is simple: Whenever you have the feeling that you are alone in Life, if we open our eyes and ears, we will realise that there is always someone you can rely on. Frontman Glyn Brookman came to this exact realisation, when his father tragically suffered a heart attack. Glyn wrote this song to show his father: “ dad, you’re not alone”. What a great message that has been put across there, especially in this day and age where people are more focused on themselves then the people around them. The first Single “Not alone“ is released since the 21 th October 2016, available on all digital Download Platforms Worldwide. The Album “Right to the Top” will be released on Music Buy Mail & Cargo Records on the 10th of March 2017, as well as on all Digital Download Platforms worldwide.
Album:
"Right To The Top" is the debut album from German 5-piece ENDFIELD, with origins in the late Nineties as a cover band evolving to original material. Formed by vocalist Glyn Brookman and guitarist Sven 'Doc' Hanke, both out of the band Practical Malfunction, Endfield experimented several line-up changes over the years but now the band has gelled with solid crew resulting in the recording of their full length CD "Right To The Top".Largely, Endfield plays melodic hard rock delivered in an AOR wrapper, a sound rooted in the classic Eighties tradition yet not in your typical keyboard / synth fashion. The band add to their sound some kind of different percussion, acoustic guitars, etc.The song arrangements are big on melody, vocal and guitar harmony, and a solid rock rhythm and groove. Vocalist Brookman has a strong vocal presence being clean, melodic, and sometimes with a deeper timber. The keyboards provide atmosphere, complementing the guitar drive.Speaking about the songs, they range from the lighter poppy AOR groove to more heavier rock numbers. For the former, 'Good Timing', 'Next Mistake', 'Not Alone' and 'So Long' fill the bill. I found the latter perhaps the most interesting song of the entire album, with a MOR feeling both in vocals & guitar.More to the hard rock side of things come with opener 'Girl In Flames', the riff heavy 'Masterpiece Of Silence', and quick-paced riff roaring 'The Game', which features some kind of rapping by a guy named Breezy. Also, there's a ballad with the song 'Angel', featuring nice, sweet acoustic guitar lines, a soaring solo, and Brookman's passionate vocals.A long time in the making for Endfield, "Right To The Top" is a promising start for the band. To be honest, however, even with fine songwriting and good musicianship, I was only attracted to a few songs. That doesn't make the whole album weak, just not wholly compelling.Interesting band trying something different in the melodic hard rock field. Give 'em a try.
