Year : 2015
Style : Hard Rock , Alternative Rock
Country : United States
Audio : 320 kbps + front + Videos
Size : 132 mb

Info:

A powerful, melodic hard rock band combining a forceful guitar attack with emotional, anthemic vocals, Red Sun Rising were formed in Akron, Ohio by vocalist and guitarist Mike Protich and guitarist Ryan Williams, who curiously went to the same high school and lived within a mile of one another for over a decade without ever meeting. In 2006, the two finally crossed paths at a gas station and struck up a conversation about music. It wasn’t long before Protich and Williams were writing songs together.

Album:

Anchored by lead single "The Otherside," which has been climbing Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart for seven weeks, and currently sits at #15, the big guitars and big hooks on Polyester Zeal, the new album from Ohio-based hard rock band Red Sun Rising, is primed for the airwaves. With crisp production courtesy of Bob Marlette, who has worked with modern rock hitmakers Shinedown, Seether and Saliva, it's an all-out rock attack with no use for subtlety. If you like loud riffs and big hooks, give it a spin. The album is out August 7 on Razor & Tie.

Line-Up:

Mike Protich - Vocals, Guitar
Ryan Williams - Guitar
Tyler Valendza - Guitar
Ricky Miller - Bass, Vocals
Pat Gerasia - Drums

Tracklist:

01. Push
02. The Otherside

In 2006, the two finally crossed paths at a gas station and struck up a conversation about music. It wasn’t long before Protich and Williams were writing songs together.

Album:

In a generation of generic, same-old-same insipid modern rock bands that have been popping up in the USA like weeds devouring the heavy music landscape, it is a fantastic surprise when one finds something more blooming in the rough. Akron, Ohio’s RED SUN RISING is an example of a modern-day hard rock outfit that does more than made songs for the radio with auto-tune.Their debut "Polyester Zeal" is modern, yes, with some alternative twists, yes, but refreshing and rocking. The quintet took root with longtime friends, vocalist Mike Protich and guitarist Ryan Williams. Guitarist Tyler Valendza, bassist Ricky Miller, and drummer Pat Gerasia round out the band which has made a name for itself through its tight live performances and well-crafted songwriting.Produced by powerhouse knob-twiddler Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Sebastian Bach) Red Sun Rising’s debut release "Polyester Zeal" is not breaking new ground so much as it is re-imagining the past with an eye on nuance and an ear for melody. At first listen, the debut single 'The Otherside' offers a glimpse of the band’s melodic and anthemic sound. It is a catchy spin and an outstanding introduction to the band. Yet this same track is in many ways the weakest of the record’s offerings for it is the most formulaic in the modern mainstream sense. Still, lead singer Mike Protich’s ferocious vocals are far from the usual 'radio-rock' cut.The album’s opener, 'Push', is an aggressive and addictive kick-start to Polyester Zeal’s sonic journey. Immediately the listener gets a sense that the band understands the importance of shadows and subtlety that have long been all but missing from present US Rock. It is these little moments that make a song stand the test of time. The next track and a personal favorite is 'Amnesia'. If Alice And Chains and Cheap Trick ever fathered a child, this song would be the result. Huge melodies combine with strong and driving rhythms to create a retro vibe that culminates with an infectious chorus. Protich’s delivery is outstanding and blends perfectly with Miller’s strong backing vocals. Many bands influenced by '90s artists attempt to infuse a pinch of the '70s into their music as well, but few can pull it off to positive effect. Red Sun Rising manage to blend the best of both eras in an organic and genuine manner, which makes all the difference. This is filtered through the band’s own modern approach to songwriting, and it pays big dividends on songs like the darkly emotive 'My Muse' and the gritty acoustic swing of 'Emotionless'.Throughout "Polyester Zeal" 11 tracks there exist numerable moments where the songs go a different direction than one might expect, or build in exciting ways. That is one of the most delightful aspects of Red Sun Rising’s music; not generic and verse-chorus-verse, often the songs end much differently than they begin.Red Sun Rising are not reinventing the wheel, but they do make the ride much more exhilarating."Polyester Zeal" is one of the most exciting debut albums that US Rock has experienced in recent years. Red Sun Rising is off to a promising start with this release, and those who have lamented the death of true Rock music in America can rejoice at another hopeful example of the genre’s long overdue return.

Album:

Following up a hit debut album can be a humble undertaking, but for Red Sun Rising, the task at hand seems natural. Slated to drop on Friday, March 30, 2018, Red Sun Rising are thrilled to release their highly anticipated sophomore studio album, Thread, on Razor & Tie Records. A follow-up 2015’s Polyester Zeal, this time around, for Thread, Red Sun Rising worked alongside veteran Producer Matt Hyde (Deftones, AFI) to offer fans 48 minutes of honest and inviting Rock music to stir the mind and floor the imagination. For Rock fans unacquainted with the band, the roots of Ohio-based Red Sun Rising go way back to 2006 when a chance meeting between two old classmates, Vocalist Mike Protich and Guitarist Ryan Williams, founded a musical kinship and the pair later formed Red Sun Rising in 2007. Over the next 7 years, Red Sun Rising put their nose to the grindstone, doing whatever it took to succeed. All in all, Red Sun Rising independently released two full-length records and two EPs via their social media platforms and toured the country, building a solid fanbase along the way. Then, in 2014, after garnering national attention on the touring circuit, Red Sun Rising realized their dreams when the band signed to Razor & Tie Records. Joining Protich and Williams in Red Sun Rising, Rhythm Guitarist Tyler Valendza, Bassist Ricky Miller, and Drummer Pat Gerasia rounded-up the band’s core lineup. Aiming for the skies, Red Sun Rising made their major label debut with the release of the aforementioned Polyester Zeal on August 7, 2015.Seeing their hard work pay off, Polyester Zeal scored not one, but two hit singles for Red Sun Rising, as both “The Otherside” and “Emotionless” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart. Garnering more accolades, though the nod went to The Strumbellas, Red Sun Rising were ecstatic to be nominated for Best New Rock/Alternative Rock Artist at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards, a testimony to the talented band. Now, after a few years of touring hard, Red Sun Rising return as Thread is the band’s first release to feature new Rhythm Guitarist Dave McGarry. As for the album title, Thread holds definitive meaning for the band and their style of music. While many will listen to Red Sun Rising and feel their style is Hard Rock, Alternative, or Post-Grunge, the band firmly believes they cannot be isolated to any one category. To cleverly define their genre, Red Sun Rising uses a hashtag, #WeAreThread; in that the bands music consists of various musical influences all woven together like threads in fabric.Steadily kicking-off Thread, the beautifully muddy effects and driving guitar solo inside “Fascination” convey strength into the emotive lyrics sang by Protich. “Left For Dead” is a heart-breaking depiction of someone who was left behind that builds to an explosive musical and vocal climax in the song’s final minute. Reminiscent of early Nirvana, the first single off Thread, “Deathwish,” is a catchy anthem for which Red Sun Rising also shot a very telling music video directed by Brad Golowin. In what should be a favorite among Red Sun Rising fans, “Stealing Life” says that seizing the moment can help life go on yet this person is letting it all slip away. Moving on, “El Lazo” remits the uneasiness of letting someone go, followed by the hopeful numbers “Lonely Girl” and “Veins.”In “Clarity,” Red Sun Rising deliver the most up-tempo and heavy vibes on Thread before “Benny Two Dogs” brings a 1990s flavor of songwriting into the mix. Thereafter, “Rose” is a tight ballad assuring someone they are not alone but with perplexity about who we are in this universe. A perfect ending, “Evil Like You” is a bewitching piece of music centered around an alluring piano hook, making it one of the stand out tracks on Thread. All this said, as Red Sun Rising’s sophomore effort, Thread should unquestionably hand the impressive Rockers a second consecutive hit album and an upsurge in success. The songs are passionately well-written with all the affecting hooks and vocals necessary to drive meaningful Rock music. Red Sun Rising are well on their way to breaking through even further in 2018 as they embark on a Spring headlining tour before hitting the road this summer as direct support to Shinedown and Godsmack. Well-worth a listen, CrypticRock gives Thread 4 out of 5 stars.
