Bio:

Junkyard is a hard rock band formed in 1987 in Los Angeles (but claim to be from Austin TX), with members formerly in Minor Threat, The Big Boys, Decry and Dag Nasty. The band has often drawn comparisons with Guns N' Roses (which, like Junkyard, signed with Geffen Records).-2015, Junkyard released two brand new songs Faded b/w The River" on Unison Music Group.-2016 included 15 shows ranging from club dates in Denver, Dallas, Austin, Green Bay and Chicago to large festivals.-2017 will bring a brand new release on Acetate Records (April 21, 2017), many club dates worldwide.

Album:

Excellent Bad Reputation Records remastered CD reissue of JUNKYARD 1991’s “Sixes, Sevens & Nines” including 8 exclusive bonus tracks, some of them previously unreleased. This Junkyard sophomore release is head and shoulders above the band’s self-titled debut, benefited from a punchy Ed Stasium production & mix that captures the band in all its ragged glory. After all these years, “Sixes, Sevens & Nines” still sounds fresh and relevant today.Junkyard never repeated themselves, and whereas their self-titled debut was a high-energy US sleazy fest, this sophomore effort is far more laid-back and melodic in its approach. While the group found some success on their debut with the nasty singles “Hollywood” and “Blooze”, they followed those up with “All The Time In The World” - a great guitar-oriented number, but one that had little in common with those earlier sleazy anthems. The song itself is great, and conjures up images of the band members relaxing on the couch with a beer in hand and just enjoying life. Used as lead single, made it to #24 on the Billboard US Main Rock charts and was on heavy rotation at MTV.Despite the slightly shift in the musical direction, I remember how much enjoyed this album when I heard it for the first time mainly because it displayed a sense of rhythm and swagger that wasn’t as evident on the debut.Instead of being full-throttle and cranky, Junkyard sounded like they were having fun this time around. Singer David Roach was still belting it out with his signature sneer, but this time around the guitar duo of Chris Gates and Brian Baker were determined to steal the show — and they did a hell of a job.Along with “All The Time In The World”, “Give The Devil His Due” and “Misery Loves Company” (complete with some piano work) showcased a more mature band with an exceptional sense of rhythm and blues. “Killing Time” and “Clean The Dirt” were allowing the guys to break free from the typical ’80s sleazy / hair metal sounds.Meanwhile it was “Back On The Streets”, “Nowhere To Go But Down”, “Throw It All Away” and the perfect album closer “Lost In The City” that followed the rocking formula Junkyard had become noted for when they first burst upon the scene. As for this Bad Reputation ‘Collectors Reissue’, it comes complete with eight bonus tracks, including the previously unreleased “Too Late To Save Me” and “This Trouble” — both of which are excellent additions to the Junkyard catalog. It’s a shame this record was overlooked when it first arrived because it is a great effort. Maybe it was too ‘nice n’ melodic’ for some fans who were awaiting a “Blooze” rehash, but it’s a much more complete and varied piece of work — and still is 28 years later! This is the definitive, collectors ‘expanded version’ of “Sixes, Sevens & Nines”, presented in exclusive here.

Album:

Eleven songs — raucous, blues-based, uncompromising hard rock song — mark a triumphant return for Hollywood rockers JUNKYARD on their first official album in 26 years titled "High Water", due on April 21 via Acetate Records.Junkyard built their reputation in the sweaty, beer-soaked dive bars of East Hollywood during the late '80s. In a city awash in a sea of hairspray, lipstick and power ballads their appeal was immediate, and after a show with Jane’s Addiction at L.A.’s legendary Scream Club, Geffen Records pounced. The band’s self-titled debut was released in 1989 to significant acclaim, garnered rave reviews (including four stars from Rolling Stone) and yielded sales in excess of half a million units. After a successful second album, Junkyard went back to the drawing board for what was to be their third release, but changing musical tastes led to recording upsets and the group disbanded. In 2014, Geffen re-released Junkyard‘s first two albums and the band was once again in demand. Tours of Japan and Europe followed, including co-headlining the Serie Z festival in Spain, performing to over 10,000 fans–many of which had waited decades to get a glimpse of the band in action. In 2015, Junkyard released the single “Faded” b/w “The River” and was promptly signed by Los Angeles indie, Acetate Records. For their return, Junkyard retained their '80s Sunset Strip hard rock formula but with a more modern, I'd say aggressive approach. "High Water" is a take no prisoners, a "I don't give a damn" album as one song title says. This is not a comeback or trip down memory lane ordeal, this is a hold your girl tight when they hit the stage deal. This album has a lot of attitude and the music is dirt, in your face hard rock. Much like the title of this CD, the music could be interpreted in so many different ways. You still have the big guitar sound and David’s vocals still driving the boat, and at places it has a 'live' vibe. The vibe of a sweaty, packed venue.Produced by guitarist Tim Mosher, the sound in Junkyard's comeback album is a pretty classic one: big guitars and drums with vocalist David Roach spilling his guts on top. "High Water" feels loose and live, so as far as production goes they weren't trying to re-invent the wheel, just deliver the songs in a punchy, in-your-face attitude. With such blunt songs as the soul-searching of "Cut From The Same Cloth" to "We F@ck Like We Fight" (abbreviated as "WFLWF" for the politically correct) going down as easy as an aged Kentucky bourbon, Junkyard rocks hard 'n dirty. And they Rock in fine form.

Line-Up:

David Roach – Vocals
Tim Mosher – Guitar
Todd Muscat – Bass
Patrick Muzingo – Drums
Jimmy James – Guitar

Tracklist:

Album:

Acetate Records hit the vaults and collected JUNKYARD‘s favorite High Water era rarities, B-sides and acoustic tracks and compiled them onto this new release titled “Rome Is Burning“.“Rome is Burning” begins with the eponymous song, a powerful kick ass rocker included as a bonus track in the deluxe edition of “High Water”. Next we have “The River” – B-side of the 7” vinyl-only single “Faded”, where Junkyard exploits his most cowboy-punk streak. The following 4 tracks are acoustic reinventions of some of the best songs from “High Water”, all done with an intimate, melodic feeling. The highlight for me is “Till the Wheels Fall Off”, the fantastic tune composed with Blackberry Smoke – whom also recorded their own version. We get as well an insane live version of “Wallet”. As explained by Mr. Roach, the song is about those Sunday mornings in which you wake up in a room that you don’t know, next to a girl who doesn’t sound like anything to you, and you decide to silently walk away … to realize, when you are about to get home, you have left your wallet at the girl’s home.“Rome is Burning” is more than a fan’s collectors release, it’s enjoyed as whole balancing rock n’ dirty with acoustic moments.
