Bio:

Danny Veras- Bio Born in Brasil , Natal, On may 1st 1977; of a Spanish mother and Brasilian father. After various life experiences he went to europe as a kid and lived in France until the age of 11. It was already his big dream to be a rock singer since he heard Elvis for the 1st time when his sister gave him a tape of him. Danny started playing guitar on his own at the age of 11 , when he arrived in Spain (Barcelona). The year after he started a band with some guys from his town he was living in Spain. At the age of 15 he went to the Costa Brava to live and he started a band in Barcelona with his friend "Victor Conde" who was playing drums, "Joan Casanovas" on guitar & Xavi on the bass. They've formed “The Griffters” a hard rock band with an American style .In '93 they've recorded their 1st demo with 6 songs on a 4 track recorder . After that record the band split up . In '94 he tried to form a new band “Paranoia” with his friend "Willy Benavente" but didn´t go too far. He started to compose his own songs like “running away” and “ there´s some magic” and he called some friends to go into the studio to record 2 songs: “The light of my life” & “T.V scream”. That recording was the best he had done until that date . After that he left Spain and went to Switzerland to study in a school in '96. He met some guys who had a progressive metal band and they needed a singer , so he did the try-out and it worked; he was the new singer for MT20, just singing without the guitar , so he could concentrate more on his voice. They did some gigs in Switzerland and France and also a demo with 3 long songs. He stopped school and had to come back to Spain because the state didn´t allow him to stay in Switzerland due to the laws of the country. Coming back to Spain in '98 he stopped playing in bands , and started playing alone with his guitar and backing tracks in hotels , pubs , restaurants , parties , playing all different kinds of music , besides he did some projects and recordings with guitar players from Germany and Spain like Guido Neuhoff , André Krengel , Steve Keller , Joan Casanovas ( Ex-Griffters ).Played cover songs from Eric Clapton , Deep ,Purple , Stevie Wonder , Lionel Richie , Roy Orbison , Eagles, George Benson , Sting , and a lot more. After playing all the restaurants , bars, hotels and private parties in Costa Brava, Spain, it worked very well , until the law stopped the musicians playing in the Costa Brava. Police were always controlling and it was quite impossible to play everywhere as before. So he took the decision to move to the States and try his chances out there. Because if you can´t fight for what you dream in the place you live , there must be a place in the world where you can do it , and that place can be America. He Deceides to go to the states for a Visit where he end up stayin' 4 years in Hollywood, Los angeles, Singin' in the band 7 Months being the new Singer.... Since then he’ve lived In Hollywood California (Nov 2003- June 2007), and played the clubs : The Joint, The Cat Club, The Knitting Factory, Dragonfly, The Gig, Paladino’s, B.B. Album:

Originally released a decade ago via Melodic Hard Rock specialized UK label ZRecords,“Never Give Up” is the debut album from VERAS, the band formed around the vocal talents of Spanish / Brazilian singer Danny Veras and produced by Paul Sabu, who also was involved in the songwriting and play on the record. Now with the CD out of print and for its 10th Anniversary, Danny himself is reissuing the album this time under his ‘solo’ full name DANNY VERAS.Danny Veras born in Brazil, but was raised in Spain where he received some of his musical formation, as well in Switzerland. Meanwhile he was part of various European bands and recorded a couple of own demos. Then he decided to go to the States for a visit but he ended up staying four years in Hollywood, Los Angeles, singing in the melodic prog rock band 7 Months with which recorded an album. In 2012 Danny returned to Europe and started to give shape to his own composed songs, put together a band, and the opportunity for a solo album arrived. The result is “Never Give Up”, more a ‘band’ debut than a solo album indeed, as the all star line up includes names such as Eric Ragno on keyboards, Thorsten Koehne (Eden’s Curse) on guitars, talented stickman Pete Newdeck (Tainted Nation, Eden’s Curse) and Paul Sabu providing guitars, vocals, and producing. The songs on “Never Give Up” are classic Melodic Rock with a clean and polished output, generous dose of keyboards catchy choruses. From the first bits of opener “Hell Rider”, you’ll realize that this going to be a classy Melodic Rock CD. A really bouncy melodic line moves the song to a contagious chorus all wrapped by clean guitars and synths.Up next is “Road Runner”, which follows in the same quality footsteps as the first track, propelled by a more groovy rhythm section.“Never to Late”, the bluesy midpaced “It Ain’t Over” and later “Hammer Down” go for a more traditional hard rock sound inspired by the British scene, while numbers like “Light Up My Life” or “Good Luck” are melodic rockers with some edge.“Back in Town” is the slow moment (not a ballad) of the record with a nice atmosphere provided by background keys and harmony vocals in the vein of House Of Lords. The proper ballad arrives with title track “Never Give Up”, carried by a very classic melody and vibe recalling the ’80s, where Eric Ragno keyboards take a center role.As bonus Danny delivers the midtempo ”Load and Fire”, a rocker dominated by sweet melodic guitar work, and a cover of the classic ”Superstitious”.“Never Give Up” is a fine debut of Danny Veras, sporting quite good melodic hard rock songs and supported by seasoned musicians.Danny’s vocals are well trained in the traditional way of the genre, with a tone and vocal color like a mix between Michael Bormann, Mitch Malloy and Danny Vaughn, just to give you an idea.Despite of Paul Sabu being involved in the production, it could be a lot better, at least to my ears I prefer a more crisp sound. It’s not muddy at all, but Paul has decided to tighten the sound on the more rocking tracks to increase the edge. It works, but as said, my ears prefer a more melodious mix.“Never Give Up” is melodic, catchy on the choruses, well composed & performed and will please all fans of the traditional melodic hard rock sound.

Album:

Born in Brazil, raised in Spain and France, and now calling Florida home, singer DANNY VERAS has lived a life shaped by riffs, road stories, and relentless passion. Since teaming up with melodic hard rock legend Paul Sabu in 2012, the duo has delivered a couple of refined AOR / Melodic Rock albums. Now, the third solo album, ”Can’t Stop the Rock”, feels like the culmination of decades spent living and breathing music—from early days in Barcelona’s hard rock scene to club nights in L.A. and beyond. This is the kind of record that knows exactly what it is and makes no apologies for it: rocking, melodic, and full of heart.Produced and co-written by Veras & Sabu, the album delivers all the fist-pumping choruses and arena-ready hooks you’d expect, but there’s depth here too. The title track, co-written with the late Frankie Banali (of Quiet Riot fame), hits especially hard – not just as an anthem, but as a tribute to rock’s enduring soul. You can feel the sweat and sincerity in every note. From the opening punch of ‘“Rock or Die’ to the swagger of lead single ‘Rich Woman’, Veras brings a strong vocal energy that pairs perfectly with a band of absolute pros. Guitarist Linkan Andersson shreds with precision, Barry Sparks (Dokken, UFO) holds down the low end, and Sabu does what he does best—making everything sound massive without losing the human touch.Title track ‘Can’t Stop The Rock’ is bursting with classic AOR energy—bold hooks, slick production, and impassioned performances. Danny delivers each line with conviction and style, while the production ensures everything lands with clarity and power. These are songs meant for the stage, the radio, and the open road.‘I Want You Forever’ is a soaring, semi-acoustic power ballad that in another era would’ve been a chart-topper. Next, ‘Keep The Faith’ is a heady fusion of Tesla, Firehouse, and old-school House of Lords, and is both classic and compelling.‘Devil’s Garden’ smoulders with brooding intensity, Veras channels the early ’80s here in one of the album’s darker moments. ‘Come Back To Me’ is full of urgency and swagger; this one has Paul Sabu’s fingerprints all over it.‘It’s Crazy’ is a dynamic midtempo with melodic peaks that wouldn’t be out of place on a Queensrÿche record like ‘Empire’. ‘Darlin’ is a different one – think Journey with a hint of ‘Long Cold Winter’-era Cinderella – it’s an unexpected blend that works beautifully.‘Misery’ is a melodic, midtempo rocker, effortlessly smooth and one of the album’s standout cuts. ‘Rich Woman’ is a quirky mix that feels like Cheap Trick with a twist. Whatever the mystery ingredient is, it’s delicious—especially with Andersson’s blistering lead work. Finally, ‘First Strike’ – the album closes with real class with this high-octane rocker, full of drive and swagger.‘Can’t Stop The Rock’ is an unapologetically retro Melodic Rock / AOR album in the best way. In a different era—say the golden age of the ’80s—it would have been massive. But even now, for fans of timeless Melodic Rock, this is a hidden gem that deserves your full attention. Veras and Sabu have crafted something passionate, powerful, and deeply enjoyable. Let’s hope they keep the music coming—because when it sounds this good, we’re all hungry for more.
