Its been a few years since Hell In The Club dropped their debut album upon an unsuspecting public. Let The Games Begin reached the 2011 Sleaze Roxx Top 10 while the group quickly established themselves as Italy's most promising new creation... and then things went quiet. The silence lasted longer than the entire career of most upstarts, but thankfully Hell In The Club have soldiered on -- delivering yet another tasty slab of melodic sleaze metal with their sophomore album Devil On My Shoulder.What I enjoy most about Hell In The Club is their ability switch between full-throttle sleaze, harmony filled melodic rock, and even a mixture of the two without blinking an eye -- and playing each style convincingly. The album openers, "Bare Hands" and "Devil On My Shoulder", once again display Hell In The Club's prowess when it comes to sing-along choruses and contain harmonies and crystal clear production that would rival anyone currently on the music scene -- ranking right up there with Crazy Lixx or even Harem Scarem in their prime. "Proud" is probably the best example of this delivery, a flawless track that buries itself into your body and takes over your senses like a parasite invading its host.As great as Hell In The Club throughout Devil On My Shoulder, I like them even better when they rev up and bury the accelerator into the floor board. "Whore Paint", the furious "Pole Dancer", the Steel Panther (minus the silly lyrics) sounding "Toxic Love", and "Snowman Six" are full-on rockers that get the adrenaline pumping and fists flying while proving these Italians can rock with the best of them. For something a little out of the ordinary there is also the piano infused "Beware Of The Candyman", a rollicking and good-time romp that shows practically everything Hell In The Club attempts turns to gold. While there has been some time and separation between their debut and Devil On My Shoulder, Hell In The Club's impeccable execution and talents remain unchanged. Devil On My Shoulder is an almost perfect hard rock album, gift wrapped in harmonies and melodies that will make any self-respecting musician envious and hard rock fans foam at the mouth.

Italy's Hell In The Club are back with a third album, Shadow Of The Monster. Once more, it's a trip back to the late Eighties for classic melodic hard rock, on the Sunset Strip sleaze side, and touched with a metal edge.At this point, I could simply refer you to my comments about 2014's Devil On My Shoulder. Three albums in and HITC are becoming masters of their chosen genre. Every song swells with melody, harmony, and groove. They're also immensely accessible, in the arena-ready or radio accessible sense, with lots of hooks in the arrangements and refrains. The vocal arrangements are premium as well: quite melodic and harmnious.Here and there the band tosses in punk spunk and speediness as with Try Me Hate Me, Hell Sweet Hell, or Dance!.And HITC never squanders a guitar solo. This album is loaded with some powerful and blazing guitar work. The can also throw you some curves. One is the song Appetite. It has this deceiving guitar intro that suggests a ballad, but the song erupts into this rock groove monster. Then, not unlike the interesting start, it ends with light piano outro. Another song of interest is Money Changes Everything. The timbre and tempo of the song, with vocals over piano at first, then lighter electric guitar, makes the song a hard rock ballad. Yet, it also has this very subtle blues feel, with the vocalist sounding almost like a torch singer. Bottom line: Hell In The Club's Shadow Of The Monster is another winner: mighty fine, catchy and entertaining, melodic hard rock with a metal edge. Easily recommended.

A belated 10th anniversary celebration of their 2011 debut album, ‘Let The Games Begin’, it includes two new songs, two covers (Alice Cooper and W.A.S.P.), and a re-recorded song from the Japan-only edition of that debut. The EP is out on 18th March on all digital platforms, with physical versions to follow in June that will be available via the group’s Bandcamp page.“We are pleased to finally announce this EP,” state the band. “We thought it would be nice to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our first album by releasing something new with which we could take stock of where we are now, ten years after we started our journey. So, together with Frontiers we planned this nice little EP. We reworked ‘In Your Eyes’ as it is a track we love so much and was previously only a bonus track on the Japanese version of our first album. As for the covers, we chose ‘He’s Back’ by Alice Cooper [also released as a single last Halloween] and ‘Chainsaw Charlie’ by W.A.S.P. as we all agreed that ‘The Crimson Idol’ is definitely one of our favourite albums ever.”They explain that the slight delay in the EP release “was because of the prevalent situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the production process of the vinyl underwent several disruptions, thus we were forced to postpone it again and again. Italy has steadily climbed up to #2 over the last couple of years when it comes to the number of upcoming sleaze/hair metal bands coming out. While Swedish bands (yep, they’re still #1) manage to enter my annual Top 10 lists on a regular basis, Italian bands always seemed to fall short. Sometimes they were lacking a good singer, the production values couldn’t keep up with the songs or they just didn’t know how to write great rock songs. When I first heard of Hell In The Club I was expecting more of the same… boy, was I to be proven wrong! Hell In The Club is the brainchild of several members of well-known Italian metal bands Elvenking and Secret Sphere. Although technically a new band, with Let The Games Begin being the debut, the band member’s backgrounds shine through — not sound wise, but experience wise — which means that Hell In The Club manage to evade all of the aforementioned Italian problems. Namely, singer Dave Moras has a variable voice which fits surprisingly well with the ’80s inspired brand of rock Hell In The Club offer and the production sounds big, sometimes even rivaling that of Chris Laney‘s magic hands.Finally, do Hell In The Club manage to come up with good songs? They do, definitely! The first two tracks, “Never Turn My Back” and “Rock Down This Place”, set the pace and lead right into the definite highlight of Let The Games Begin — “On The Road”. Combining the elements of Bon Jovi and Skid Row in same manner Crazy Lixx does, this cut is (to my ears) simply the best rock song ever to come out of Italy. The album is far from over after that track though — for ballad-lovers there’s “Since You’re Not Here” and “Star”. If you prefer it heavier listen to “Natural Born Rockers” or “No Appreciation”, and if you simply want more of that infectious stadium-rock displayed on the album’s first three tracks treat yourself to “Raise Your Drinkin’ Glass”, “Forbidden Fruit” and “Don’t Throw In The Towel”. The only minor down point of the entire CD is the funky “Daydream Boulevard”.Hell In The Club starts off 2011 with a very enjoyable slab of modern arena-rock. If Let The Games Begin doesn’t appear on my Top 10 list at the end of the year, it would certainly be due to strong competition… because this debut CD is pretty much flawless.

Please meet Hell In The Club, a killer hard rock band with a style rooted in the classic ‘80s rock and metal scene, yet with its own modern identity. Founded by Andrea “Andy” Buratto (Secret Sphere), Dave “Damna” Moras (Elvenking) and Andrea “Picco” Piccardi, the band has carved out a solid reputation through six acclaimed studio albums, extensive European touring with acts like Crashdïet, Jettblack, and Crucified Barbara, and appearances at major festivals including Sonisphere, Basin Fire Fest, and Heineken Jammin’ Festival.After signing to Frontiers Records in 2017, Hell In The Club released Hell of Fame (2020), the Kamikaze EP (2020, celebrating their 10th anniversary), and their sixth album F.U.B.A.R.(2022), a straight-up hard rock record hailed as one of their strongest to date.Following the departure of founding vocalist Dave Moras, the band faced a turning point. Instead of replacing him with a similar voice, bassist Andy proposed a bold shift: introducing a female singer. Enter Terese “Tezzi” Persson, a powerhouse vocalist from Sweden with a voice perfectly suited to the band’s raw, high-energy style. After a single rehearsal, the choice was clear.In April 2024, Tezzi officially joined the band, debuting with the single Carolina Reaper. Momentum quickly built toward the creation of their seventh album: Joker in the Pack.This new album is the first with Tezzi fronting the band — and it captures Hell In The Club at their fiercest. Ten tracks of pure adrenaline, from the fiery opener The Devil Won’t Forget Me to the emotional closer When the Veil of Night Falls.
