Bio:

Dead City Ruins have been carving their own path in the world of Hard rock. Starting out in London England and making their way home to Australia whilst playing as many down trodden, hole in the wall pubs and clubs as one band can fit into a seven day week.Splicing the musicianship of 70's and 80's metal and the soul catching riffs of bluesy rock with the intensity and "f*ck ‘em all" attitude of punk rock, Dead City Ruins have left crowds from London (ENG) to Melbourne (AUS) reeling for more and asking themselves where the hell this band came from!2007 saw the release of the E.P. "Lost in London" and in 2011 their debut album "MIDNIGHT KILLER" to rave reviews online and regular airplay on local radio. In 2011 Dead City Ruins boarded their majestic vessel “The Blue Bastard” armed with sleeping bags, tents and their gear, and headed out on their first UK & European tour, travelling 28,000kms, playing 50 dates across several countries (England, Wales, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Spain), finishing off the tour at an international Metal Music Festival in Dubai.Ever the road warriors, Dead City Ruins headed back to Europe and the UK to do it all again from June to August 2012, following up on the buzz created from the previous tour. Rocking festival stages and supporting the likes of Mastodon, Diamond Head, Orange Goblin and Hardcore Superstar, before returning to rock as many venues that will have them in their hometown of Melbourne, Australia.2013 brought the recording of the highly anticipated second album, working with USA Sound Engineer, James Lugo (Iron Maiden, Bruce Springsteen, Dokken) Followed by a 33 date, 13 country tour of UK, Europe & Scandinavia supporting American heavyweights Skid Row and Ugly Kid Joe to rave reviews!Skid Row & Ugly Kid Joe personally invited DCR to support them on their Australian Tour beginning 23rd April 2014.As of March 2015 Dead City Ruins commence their third headline tour of UK/Europe and are basing themselves out of Europe for the rest of the year.Dead City Ruins is a working class hard rock band fuelled by what life throws at them … good times, bad times, disappointments, achievements and life in the cruel fuckin’ city!

Album:

Dead City Ruins are back with their third studio album Never Say Die. The Australian rockers have spent the last 8 years working their way to the top and touring with bands such as Skid Row and Fozzy. The work and determination that this band has put into this is clearly shown on this latest offering which is good old fashioned rock n roll. This latest album is full of dirty riffs and tracks which reflect their life as a band. The sound this band has throws you back to a time of heavy gritty rock that was first seen in the 70s with Black Sabbath. But don’t let that fool you they still have their own sound and with tracks such as “Dirty Water” which has a chorus which takes on the great sing back from the band which will be a serious hit played live. The guys also take on a very bluesy feel with “The River Song” which has a very easy on ears sound and an overly catchy bridge which will have you singing along and be stuck in your head for days. As well as this hard rock/blues sound the band are able to tone it down as they play ballad “Rust and Ruins” with its haunting guitar soft slow beat that picks up half way into the song that then makes the listener feel the pain of the song as the vocals pick up.The album as a whole manages to show the band’s versatility. As you listen more into it you can hear the unsaid meanings behind the tracks that are full if deeper meaning. Dead City Ruins have this old school sound that is rare to hear from newer bands these days but it works perfectly for them and is a refreshing change.Dead City Ruins Release Never Say Die April 13th Via AFM Records.

Album:

Five eager Australians are growing impatient: where is the rock? - Dead City Ruins send a "Shockwave" our way.Dead City Ruins are staying hungry. In 2015, the Australians sold their belongings and went all-in when it comes to rock 'n' roll. Tirelessly touring the planet, the fivesome has managed to capture the hearts of its audience gig by gig - much like Rival Sons, Monster Truck and similar trailblazers of their generation have. They also share a list of influences with these acts, namely Deep Purple, Guns N' Roses, Zeppelin. Their goal: bring rock 'n' roll back to the people. What these guys make on the road, they re-invest into their rough living conditions as well as their upcoming album. Now, "Shockwave" is finally ready and marks the band's fourth record. For that to happen, everything had to change! There's Steve Welsh, for example, as the newly appointed microphone man. "Steve is out there giving our typical sound a fresh new edge, which is pretty exciting," guitarist Sean Blanchard muses. Welsh himself elaborates: "These guys have given me the warmest welcome; I couldn't have wished for better bandmates. They took me in and let me be part of something they had been building for such a long time, all the while giving me everything I need."Before that, Welsh was mostly active on YouTube, where he dedicated himself to imitating a plethora of singers. There's one clip of him singing the twelve songs from Alice In Chains' "Dirt" in twelve different styles; ranging from James Hetfield (Metallica) to Ronnie James Dio. "I started doing these because I was just as interested in the music as I was in creating videos. On YouTube, I was able to realize my ideas while gaining notoriety."But there's more revolution to this album: "Shockwave" saw US producer Gene Freeman aka Machine take over the mixing desk after having worked with the likes of Lamb Of God, Clutch and Crobot. That was a lot of fun," guitarist Blanchard reminisces. "We spent a full week doing pre-production. Once we had the demos down and knew where we wanted it to go, Machine picked everything apart and put it back together while keeping our ideas intact. There were a few intense moments, but when it comes to pushing the band and turning the songs into the best versions of themselves, no one does a better job." And it shows.Whether it's a rhythmic monster like "Preacher", a straight-up rock fest like "Speed Machine", a potential festival-anthem like "Dog On A Leash", or heavier stuff like "Vision": "Shockwave" proves that Dead City Ruins don't just have a penchant for songwriting, but also arrangements and the right energy. There's no doubt that these Australians absolutely live rock 'n' roll and that "Shockwave" will open plenty of doors. At least that's what Tommy Cain sees in the band's future after the pandemic: "We want to tour as soon as we possibly can. When the world re-opens, we will be there to give the best rock 'n' roll show that Europe has seen since the lockdown and you better believe it! The determination we have for our fans and music has never been so bold. The situation might have live music by the throat, but we will overcome it and live as we once rocked!"
