KEE MARCELLO is one of the most renowned guitarists out of Scandinavia with an amazing track record. From the hugely successful Swedish glam / pop group "Noise" in the early 80’s through to the first U.S. Major Label deal ever signed by a Scandinavian.In the late eighties and early nineties Europe was one of the biggest rock bands in the World. They sold over 30 million albums, landed No. 1’s on the sales charts in 26 countries and shared the biggest stages with acts like Metallica, Def Leppard & Bon Jovi. Kee joined the band in 1986 when Europe got their big break with The Final Countdown album and toured all over the world with Europe releasing two more albums with the band: Out of This World and Prisoners in Paradise.Marcello once said: “Being a guitar player at this level is not a choice, it’s rather a perk of my addictive personality”. The same mechanisms that almost killed him while living the rock’n’roll lifestyle to the extreme also made him never lose sight.The technical perfection and feel that Kee strives for as a guitar player has developed an original tone and trademark Les Paul sound. He has the ability to play extremely fast, and yet every note is crisp and clear. These characteristics along with his sense of melody in writing the most memorable solos (Europe's "Superstitious" for example) makes him stand out among the many talented guitar players in the world. Not only does he have the track record to show it but now Gibson have decided to make Kee his very own signature model. Needless to say, this will mean he will join a group of very special and elite guitar players who have been given this special honour.A man of many talents. This guy is not only a World-class guitar player, he is also a much acclaimed singer / songwriter and producer with multimillion selling songs in his catalogue (Swedish Metal aids platinum selling record "Give a Helpin' Hand" for e.g.) He’s even been a musical star when he starred in the unique Swedish production of "Rock of Ages" acting as himself in a part written for especially him. The musical was a massive success and played to sold out houses in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Helsingborg for four seasons.Since his Europe days, Kee has released 4 solo albums. The latest release "JUDAS KISS" (2013) features 13 rock’n’roll tracks with a touch of blues, all accompanied by Marcello’s powerful, yet soulful vocals and trademark guitar sound. This album received excellent reviews upon release and was described by the press as "adrenaline pumping / catchy / raw and densely packed with sturdy melodies and razor sharp axe work".Over the years Kee has built up a solid fan-base all over the world which keeps him busy touring with his band, recording, television, demonstrating, guitar clinics and guesting with other great musicians and bands such as Deep Purple, Paul Gilbert, Alanah Myles and In-Flames. On stage this man can still "tear it up" and aims for musical perfection as well as putting on a show that the fans will never forget. Judas Kiss is the fourth solo album by Kee Marcello, the former guitarist in the Swedish hard rock band Europe.It was released on April 5, 2013."Judas Kiss" is an album of 20 years in the making for music veteran Kee Marcello. What has been almost a lifetime in the making has turned out to be a very solid Rock album, complete with a few growls and heavy riffage to wander into Metal’s territory. Not far, but enough to give the album some teeth. Rock fans rejoice, you have someone less mainstream to enjoy on a very relatable level.The album as a whole is a solid piece of Rock N' Roll. 13 tracks of Love, loss, road weariness, and betrayal await the listener. Dirty guitars tones, melodic bass, and groovy drum work creates a great foundation for great lyrics and Marcello’s bluesy vocals. Some standout tracks are "Zombie", "Starless Sky", and "Dead Give Away" and "Forever More" features Liv Moon, who adds a new dimension to the sound, although I’m not sure her vibrato complements Marcello’s vocals as well as they could."Coming Home" is the album's token ballad, slowing things down a bit. Not wanting to lose the pace, "Get On Top" kicks the album back in gear, and from there on out the album maintains its momentum to the bitter end. While I may not be that big of a Rock fan, I cannot deny this album is catchy, well recorded, loaded with intelligent lyrics, and all around a work to be proud of. For a rating, I would give it a 8 out of 10. British and American Rock fans alike will most assuredly find this album to their liking. Until next time, stay well, and live free!

With the new music firmly grounded in the songwriting tradition that made him a multi-platinum rock star in the first place, Kee explores the boundaries of melodic hard rock with a contemporary performance that nods to his past and employs sizzling production. This is an album all his fans will have to pick their jaws up off the floor after hearing!Kee Marcello is a unique artist in the hard rock genre. He has never stopped evolving and growing as both a writer and a guitarist and the new album illustrates how much he has managed to raise the bar yet again with both his guitar playing, singing and writing.Conceived and recorded in the winter and spring of 2016, "Scaling Up" encompasses all the influences and genres in which the Swedish musician has been involved in since the start of his career. Besides the obvious resemblances to EUROPE's classic sound, Kee also gives a nod to his past in EASY ACTION.
