Mother's Finest is an American funk rock band founded in Atlanta, Georgia, by the vocal duo of Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy and Glenn "Doc" Murdock in 1970 when the pair met up with guitarist Gary "Moses Mo" Moore and bassist Jerry "Wyzard" Seay. Their music is a blend of funky rhythms, heavy rock guitars and expressive soul/R&B-style vocals.The group charted with the singles "Fire" (No. 93 Pop Singles), "Baby Love" (No. 79 Black Singles, No. 58 Pop Singles), "Don't Wanna Come Back" (No. 54 Black Singles), "Love Changes" (No. 26 Black Singles), and "Piece of the Rock" in the mid- to late 1970s.

A Classic!! This is probably the best and certainly one of the earliest albums to combine rock and funk effectively. AC/DC style riffing with catchy songs topped off with the glorius vocals of Baby Jean.Arguably Mothers Finest were the greatest funk rock band of all time. Formed in the early 70s they entered the scene as a full-on rock band, but with a unique sound that fused lean and mean bad ass funk with crunchy guitar driven white boy rock. For 'Iron Age' (1981) the band made a concerted effort to underscore their commitment to rock, crafting a record that simply confounded any notion that they were easing off the gas pedal. Incl. such riff laden classics as 'Luv Drug', 'Movin On', 'Evolution' and the jewel in the crown 'Illusion'. Hats off to hostest-with-mostest Joyce 'Baby Jean' Kennedy whose vocals are as good, if not superior, to both Tina Turner and Chaka Khan. Rock Candy re-issue, dig. remastered. Tracklist: 1.
