Year : 1988-1990 (AOR Blvd Records Limited Edition 2026)
Style : Melodic Hard Rock , AOR
Country : United States
Audio : 320 kbps + front
Size : 102 mb

Bio:

KINGS RANSOM is a US melodic hard rock with prog touch band from the late 1980s that actually had the potential to take off as a slightly softer version of similar bands such as Queensryche or Fates Warning, but also as grandly as Rush. Frontman Scott Larick shines with an extremely powerful and multifaceted voice.Frontman Scott Larick says: "Back in the late 80's I wrote a bunch of songs in the vein of Queensryche, Rush, Journey etc. and recruited some buddies from my hometown in Hagerstown MD. and Virginia to join me in LA to put this original band together. We added French Canadian bassist Jaques Thiebaut) and played around LA for a bit". Musically, KING'S RANSOM were definitely softer than the bands mentioned above fans of melodic hard rock should definitely enjoy them.

Album:

English label AOR Blvd Records has become more than just a hidden gem for releasing rare treasures in recent years. Now we are featuring in exclusive at 0dayrox the just released “The Enemy Within“, the unreleased album by 4-piece KINGS RANSOM.The release as part of the label’s limited collector’s series – this is AOR Blvd Records Collectors Series Volume 9 – a must-have for Melodic Rock fans and collectors alike. However KINGS RANSOM were more progressive than the usual AOR bands released by the label. The group’s sound recalls Queensryche circa Rage For Order. Add Dokken too (just listen to awesome opener, title track ‘The Enemy Within).Frontman Scott Larick shines with an extremely powerful and multifaceted voice, like mix between Geoff Tate and Midnight. Tracks like ‘Sinner’ and the at places atmospheric ‘Lady Blue’ are more straight hard rockers, while ‘Someone Save Me’ sounds like a Queensryche’s ‘Empire’ lost song – pretty awesome if you ask.Kudos to AOR Blvd Records to finally release KINGS RANSOM recordings, an obscure yet fantastic band plenty of talent – one wonders why they never recorded / released a proper album.A lost gem!
