Black 'N Blue are 80’s hard rockers who released four successful and critically acclaimed albums through Geffen Records including their self-titled debut (1984), “Without Love” (1985), “Nasty Nasty” (1986), and “In Heat” (1987), with the latter two albums produced by the legendary Gene Simmons of KISS. The band, which featured Jaime St. James (vocals), Tommy Thayer (lead guitar), Jef Woop Warner (guitar), Patrick Young (bass), and Pete Holmes (drums), started in Portland, OR as a group of friends that came together to make their mark on 80’s hard rock. The band eventually relocated to Los Angeles and was signed to Geffen Records.Black ‘N Blue would go on to sell over a million albums throughout their tenure in the 80’s. The band scored a hit single in “Hold On To 18” (which was featured on the group’s first release), a track that is widely known as a hard rock classic and still has airplay on stations across the country. This album contained demos of some of Black 'N Blue's most popular hits, including 5 unreleased tracks and a live version of the song "Autoblast". Meanwhile, in the ensuing interim period, the band released Rarities, an album which included remakes of a few of their hits, but mostly consisted of many unreleased demos, including some that were not included on the Demos Remastered: Anthology 1 release.In early 2003, vocalist Jaime St. James reformed Black ‘N Blue. Along with St. James, original members Warner and Young began recording a new album titled Hell Yeah (this time without Thayer, who was performing lead guitar duties for Kiss at the time) Shawn Sonnenschein was the new lead guitarist to be featured on the album in Thayer's place. The album was initially scheduled to be released in September 2003, but the release date was pushed back on several occasions. In 2004, Jaime St. James became the new front man and lead singer for Warrant and later left Warrant in 2008.In the summer of 2008, Black 'N Blue formally reunited to play at Rocklahoma and also back into the studio to finish the “Hell Yeah!” release. Their latest release is described as “classic” Black ‘N Blue as heard on the group’s original recordings.Skullfest October 2013 show marked the debut of new guitarist Brandon Cook, who replaced Jeff "Woop" Warner.

Without Love is the second studio album by the American glam metal band Black 'n Blue. It was produced by Bruce Fairbairn.Do you like 80's hair metal, but are sick of listening to "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Slippery When Wet" for the thousandth time? Well good news...second album of one of the most talented, but overlooked bands, Black n Blue are now available.I wore out my cassettes I owned of "Without Love", "Nasty Nasty" and the self titled debut album around the time Clinton was first elected and have been waiting for the cd. All of the albums still sound great, you will be banging your head and playing air guitar all the way to work. "Without Love" seems to have the reputation of being BnB's "pop" album, and while it does seem the music is a bit more commercialized, it is still a really good album. "Strange Things" may be BnB's best tune, the hook, the catchy chorus, a true 80's metal-head delight. If you are tired of the retread music offered today..then take the time to discover some of the bands you may have missed the first go around. Sure....you know as soon as the opening guitar chord hits that you are listening to music that could only have come out during the Reagan era...so what? These guys had talent, and the music is still fun. Break out the Spandex, get 2 or 3 bottles of hairspray for that big hair look, and rock out like it's 1986!!!

In Heat is the fourth studio album by the American glam metal band Black 'n Blue. It was produced by Kiss bassist Gene Simmons.Concluding the Majestic Rock Black 'n Blue reissues is the band's fouth and final album, In Heat. This is easily the album that I listen to the least from Black 'n Blue. Again, the album is produced by Gene Simmons of Kiss, but something is missing from this album. The pace of the album is downright lethargic through a large portion. When compared to the first album, the energy level is a fraction of what it once was. Many of the songs pass with indifference and very few moments get my head moving up and down.My biggest complaint on this album is the repetitive drum beat. There is very little (if any) variation and very little speed, much like a slow, post Pyromania Def Leppard tune. However, Jamie St. James continues his charismatic delivery, complete with the occasional energetic wails. While St. James is again a shining point of the album, his balls to the wall vocal delivery magnifies the suddenly flat sounding drums. St. James seems to be forging ahead full steam while the songs themselves are stuck in low gear. There are still plenty of lively guitar solos to be found, but the crunchiness of the debut is all but gone at this point. If you are patient enough to sift through the generic and uneventful elements of this album, you will find some positive points to this album. Like I said, Jamie St. James energetic vocals save this album to a degree, as does the healthy dose of guitar soloing and shred work. Songs like Great Guns of Fire and The Snake are more reminiscent of the band's earlier work. The harmony vocals are again strong, and you will hear several catchy moments within most of the songs. It's just hard to listen to this album from beginning to end when you have that very basic (and slow) "thump-snare, thump-snare" drum beat for almost the entire album.Not exactly the strongest of albums to finish their career, In Heat could have been a lot better. Had the guys cranked up the tempo just a bit and given drummer Pete Holmes a couple cups of coffee, this album probably would have been much more exciting. A more lively rhythm section naturally provides the opportunity for a stronger rhythm guitar presence. Well, there is some nice shred work to be found, but the rhythm guitars are pretty much stuck in a standstill given the flat drumbeat.Apparently, Black 'n Blue has decided that In Heat will not be their fourth and FINAL studio album! The band has reformed and has recorded their FIFTH and forthcoming studio album, Hell Yeah. The album will be released on Z Records (Europe) and a sample track is available for download on their site. This track is very encouraging and if it is any indication of the entire album, it is safe to say that Black 'n Blue will recapture their glory days with the release of Hell Yeah. One notable item is that guitarist Tommy Thayer will not be participating in the recording of Hell Yeah due to current obligations with Kiss. He is being replaced by Shawn Sonnenschein. Needless to say, the Majestic Rock Records reissue of the band's first four albums and the announcement of their first studio album in about 15 years is terrific news for Black 'n Blue fans!

Black 'N Blue is the debut studio album by American glam metal band Black 'n Blue, released in 1984.The album includes the band's only song to chart as a single, Hold On to 18. In 2015, the album was ranked 28th at Rolling Stone's "50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time".The track "Chains Around Heaven" had previously appeared on both the second and third pressings of the compilation album Metal Massacre (1982).The album starts off with two anthems in “The Strong Will Rock” and “School Of Hard Knocks”. As I said, the band quickly establishes itself in terms of rocking out but neither song really got me overly excited. The majority of the songs on the album were written by singer Jaime St. James and Tommy Thayer (guitarist Jeff Warner, bassist Patrick Young and drummer Pete Holmes received a single co-writing credit each) so any issues I have with the overall quality of the individual tracks would be laid at their feet.It was the song “Autoblast” that first got my attention. It come out firing fast and furious and really caught my ear. The band followed that one up with “Hold On To 18”, which has the distinction of being the only song that enjoyed any success as a single. When I heard it, it was instantly memorable but I couldn’t tell you where I’ve heard it before because I never owned this album in the past. Still, it is a pretty good and it was the song that started to turn my opinion around regarding the album as a whole.The song “Wicked Bitch” closed out the first side of the cassette and it was a very hard rocking number.Side two of the album opened with a cover of the Sweet song “Action”. It was also the first of four songs in a row where the shouted choruses (featuring the song title, of course) really worked better for me than on side one.The album really had nothing in the way of soft balladry with Black ‘N Blue instead focusing their energy crafting volume driven rockers. I wasn’t crazy about “I’m The King” or the closing song “Chains Around Heaven” but “Show Me The Night” and “One For The Money” were pretty good.Look, Black ‘N Blue is always going to be best known for being the band from which both St. James and Thayer went on to bigger and better bands/things. That’s just immutable truth. But while this is definitely a look at the band in their musical infancy, it does have some pretty special moments threaded throughout the album. It won’t be remembered as a great album, but for those music fans who like the idea of listening to a band’s entire discography as a means of doing musical genealogy, it gives you a raw and somewhat unrefined look at where the band started out from.The album was produced by Dieter Dierks who is probably best known for his longtime association with the Scorpions and for his work with Accept as well.

Nasty Nasty is the third studio album by the American glam metal band Black 'n Blue. It was produced by Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, with the exception of the song "I'll Be There for You" which was written and produced by The Babys/Bad English/Journey rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Jonathan Cain.The title track is the basis of the Kiss song "Domino", and also contains the ending riff from "Only You", both Kiss songs credited to Simmons. Black 'n Blue guitarist Tommy Thayer would later join Kiss in 2002.Nasty Nasty saw the band move away from the more polished approach of Without Love as it did not appeal to their metal fans. As a result, the production is much more raw and the album has a much more aggressive feel than Without Love, as the band sticks with hard rockers with the exception of "I'll Be There for You".The band had originally intended a song titled, "Promise the Moon" to be on the album, but it was replaced by "I'll Be There for You" because the record company thought that nothing could be pulled as a single. However, keyboard credits were given in the cassette and on the back of the LP to John Purdell for "Promise the Moon" and "Kiss of Death." Fans were baffled by this until liner notes in the 2003 re-master explained it.At the end of "Kiss of Death", a different melody begins, the music is played forward, but Jaime's voice is heard singing backwards as a result to the backmasking controversy. When played reverse, it deciphers, "Baby, don't touch me anymore, don't touch me, you sick little bitch, I don't like this from you anymore, anymore, yeah, yeah, yeah, don't touch me, baby, get away from me, get away from me, you're just too sick for my--".
