Bio:

No Bros is an Austrian hard rock band from Innsbruck at the beginning of the 1980s celebrated great success with titles like Heavy Metal Party, Be My Friend and Hey You.In 1974, Klaus Schubert and Michael Außerhofer founded in Tyrol, the band target, which was transformed into the late 1970s, with the participation of Nicholas Opperer, Freddy Gigele and Franz Heumader to No Bros. gave as part of a live appearance in Pinkafeld it 1979, a fateful encounter with the ORF-radio host Gotthard Rieger. He was to establish friend and manager of the band with the aim of the local Hard Rock in Austria.Yet 1979 was performed first studio recording in the ORF regional studios Tirol.By connecting to the influential ORF man Gotthard Rieger No Bros had of course far more development opportunities than other Austrian hard rock bands such as Blind petition. This led to the band so to some reluctance. Especially the enmity Blind Petition No Bros was legendary. In 1981, the first single Good morning sir / Reggae appeared. The breakthrough came in 1982 with the publication of the gripping live album Heavy Metal Party. Inspired by the success they took in the same year in the Cologne studio album Ready For The Action on but the quality will in no way approach presented in the previous record. For the single from the album Be My Friend was the biggest success of the band. The follow-up single Hey you (1983) already went more or less. After extensive touring with bands like Motörhead and Uriah Heep, there were arguments in the band and was replaced by Harry Francis Heumader Gschösser. With this cast album Our Own Way was recorded. It is striking that singer Freddy Gigele very clearly excelled here for the first time as a songwriter. The single release Friends will keep together (Ausserhofer) - probably intended as a (male) drinking song - was to failure.Shortly after the release of the album Our Own Way escalated the dispute between Freddy Gigele and Klaus Schubert, which is why the project No Bros broke for now: It seemed problematic, especially the fact that managers Gotthard Rieger (ORF) distanced.Freddy and Michael Gigele Außerhofer started solo projects, Harry Gschösser went to the United States to join the band Racer X.The remaining members Klaus Schubert and Nik Opperer continued the band with studio musicians and with the Scottish singer Joe Francis Hamilton in 1986 yet the album Cavalry of Evil added. After reconciliation with Gotthard Rieger, the band has once again count on the support of the ORF. The advertised Single Thus, there was still hard to see to total failure. After a final concert with the support of the former U8 frontman Lem Enzinger things quieted down No Bros.In the years after the dissolution of the individual members played in other bands. So was about Franz Heumader with the group Poor Boys go, while Klaus Schubert, Nik Opperer and Lem Enzinger appeared together as Schubert. In 2005, the former founding members decided to hold a reunion concert. Only Freddy Gigele was not present and was replaced by Lem Enzinger. More performances at various open-air concerts and festivals led to the decision again a new album. In July 2006 Hungry For The Good Times was published. In the autumn of the same year yet The Party So Far I (Limited Best Of Fan Edition) was filed. Remixes, originals and numbers selected from the various side-projects of the musicians complete this CD. Typically Heavy Metal Party style a little Austria tour was completed in 2007. In spring 2008, is a founding member Nick P. Opperer professional reasons his resignation. As the successor Andi Brunner is presented. Andi Brunner is no stranger to the music scene and is considered an excellent virtuoso on the keyboard. After a few live acts with the new line follows an artistic break. Mastermind Klaus Schubert (Klaus Schubert Blues Bunnies) and Franz Heumader (Sugar Daddy Band) in 2009 to focus on your side projects. In April 2010, the CD The Party So Far II (Rare Cuts Fan Edit) is published.

Album:

Hard Rock from Austria, 2015 Re-Release, with 4 Bonustracks. This work is will also be available on CD and as a download for the first time ever worldwide. With the first song the band is already showing that in 1982 the center of the European hard rock world was clearly in Austria. The style of NO BROS lies between RAINBOW and DEEP PURPLE – and they played in the same league. The the six-minute title track shows a force that immediately strikes into the brain of every listener and this energy permeates the entire album. A Special reference shall also made to the songs “Hey You” and the mega-single “Be My Friend”. Thanks to radio and TV presence of the band the ballad climbed on top in the Austro-charts. Inspired by the re-release Klaus Schubert and Freddy Gigele found together again in 2014 for new studio recordings. The result: 3 brand new tracks that will be published on this re-release for the first time worldwide. “Find Myself” can certainly be seen as a tribute to “Be My Friend” and “A Night In Touch City” and “Back Again” are classic NO BROS hammers! (KLAUS SCHUBERT knows only one God named RITCHIE BLACKMORE and that’s a really good thing !!) Finally, there’s also a SCHUBERT IN ROCK version of the title track with Marc Storace of Krokus…

Bio:

In 1974 Klaus Schubert and Michael Ausserhofer founded the band TARGET. With the entry of Nik P. Opperer, Freddy Gigele and Franz Heumader this metamorphosed to NO BROS by the end of the seventies. During a gig at the beginning of the eighties they met Gotthard Rieger, then a Radio presenter, who became their friend and manager with the aim to establish Hard Rock music made in Austria. The breakthrough came in 1982 with the publishing of the live-recorded album “Heavy Metal Party”. Motivated by this success the recording of their first studio album “Ready for the action” was done within the same year. Due to good placements in the charts it brought NO BROS also financial gain. The single “Be my friend” is still seen as a milestone in the Austrian rock music scene. After prolonged tours with internationally famous bands like MOTÖRHEAD and URIAH HEEP, disputes within the group led to the substitution of Franz Heumader by Harry Gschösser. In 1983 this line-up recorded the album “Our own way” which could not reach the chart positions of former works. After further quarrelsNo Bros, Freddy Gigele and Michael Ausserhofer left. Gotthard Rieger laid down his position as manager and Harry Gschösser went to the United States and joined the band RACER X. Klaus Schubert and Nik P. Opperer went on to work with various studio musicians and in 1986 they recorded their fourth album “Cavalry of Evil” with the Scottish singer Joe Francis Hamilton. After a final concert with Lem Enzinger – then U8 – on the vocals, NO BROS was officially laid to rest. In the years between 1986 and 2004 the former band members performed with several other groups: Franz Heumader with POOR BOYS and Klaus SchubertNo Bros, Nik P. Opperer and Lem Enzinger with SCHUBERT. For fans of NO BROS there were only several Best-of-CDs as a consolation. In 2005 the founding members of NO BROS decided to play a reunion-gig – with the exception of Freddy Gigele who was substituted by Lem Enzinger. Further gigs at several Open-Air-concerts and festivals followed – for instance a gig at the Donauinselfest in Vienna and a performance as supporting act for DEEP PURPLE. The enthusiastic reaction of the fans led NO BROS to the recording of a new album. “Hungry for the good times” was released in July 2006. In the autumn of 2006 “The Party so far I (Limited Best of Fan Edition)” followed, containing remixes, rare original recordings and songs from the musicians’ diverse side projects. In 2007 a tour through Austria gave a wider range of fans a chance to see the band live for the first time in two decades. In spring 2008 Nik P. Opperer left the band for professional reasons. Andi Brunner, already renowned among Austrian musicians as a genius on the keyboard, was announced as his successor. Several gigs followed – among them one at the ill-fated 2008 AustroRockFestival in Klagenfurt. In 2009 word got out that the band had started work on a new album but late in the same year they suddenly decided to take a break because Klaus Schubert and Franz Heumader wanted to concentrate on their side projects. In early 2010 Lem Enzinger left the band in frustration. Another Best-of-CD, “The Party so far II (Rare Cuts Fan Edition)”, was released in April 2010 containing among live and rare recordings the demo-version of a new song called “Cross the line”. In July 2010 the bassist Michael Ausserhofer said that recordings for the new album would recommence in the autumn but wouldn't name a singer. Only a month later the band released an official statement to the new longplayer: they will be in the studio during autumn and winter of 2010 with a number of as yet unnamed international singers and this is going to be their farewell album!

Album:

When you're dealing with very old bands, you have that sensation that you have to respect them. And for you all to know, age seems to crystallize a band's musical style, but it doesn't become weak or outdated. No, there are bands that, even after 20 or 30 years active, keep their style alive, and this is what makes difference in the end of it: their personality. And as a fine example, we can take "Metal Marines", the new album from the excellent Austrian band NO BROS.The band is active since 1979, and their whole musical style has that same feeling from bands as DEEP PURPLE and BLUE OYSTER CULT, that mix of classic Hard Rock with some more heavier sound on guitars, and a good amount of musical weight on guitars. But this time, there's a good (and hooking) influence of AOR that permeates the entire album, specially due the musical accessibility we can feel on the refrains with melodic backing vocals. But it's another insight of their own style, so there's nothing wrong with this aspect. The production did a fine work. Yes, because we can hear a fine sound quality, giving them a great clarity, and we can understand what each musical instrument is playing clearly. But there's that essential touch of weight that a Metal band must have. The entire album is very good, keeping a homogeneous quality level for the songs. But I dare to name the hooking "Legends Of The Eighties" (full of fine vocals and with an outstanding work on guitars), "Back Again" with its seventies Rock and Roll feeling (and again, very good guitar riffs), the heavy and nasty "Dance Of The Black Tattoo" (with an aggressive guitar playing, but as well, this song have a very good keyboards touches), the Hard'n'Heavy song "Metal Marines" (another great job from vocals, with some very high and thin tunes, but the rhythmic basis is doing a very good work as well, along with some good keyboards intervention), the balanced "Runaway Girl" (where a heavy atmosphere is balanced by some good amount of musical accessibility, creating a one of the album's greatest moments), and the energetic "A Night in Touch City".All that's left to say is that these guys still have some lessons to teach for the new generations.

Album:

There are no less than 45 years of NO BROS 2019, which play a similar role for Austria's rock scene as Krokus for Switzerland, except that guitarist Klaus Schubert and Co. never had equal successes. Whereas the Confederates were inevitably compared to AC / DC, the neighbors were and are above all Deep Purple. With the thumbs up, one could say that the music of the quintet was brushed on the British flagship's work from the mid-1970s to Ian Gillan's return to occupation. Ergo you can also hear "Export Of Hell" AOR (the Joe Lynn Turner era can be greeted in 'Love Or Hate Me') without fabric softener, but also driving organ rockers like the bluesy self-definition 'This Is NO BROS 'or the hook-striking' Way Down To The Edelweiss'.Cheerful, as such titles suggest, NO BROS are always around, and languish in 'Fade' just as homely as he snarls during 'Theater Of Dreams'. Two, three numbers in the first half seem a bit wooden in their structures, as if they had been pieced together in the studio, but "out the back" the old-timers turn up again, for which they have probably not revamped their own classics without reason. Therefore, the urgent 'Black Maiden' of 1983 and the 'Speed King' or 'Highway Star' revenant 'Holiday With HH' (1982) are next to 'Little Boy' of the epic power ballad 'Little Boy' by Schubert's 2018er "Schubert In Rock" LP listed as bonus pieces; but the actual songs of "Export Of Hell" suffice for a positive judgment.CONCLUSION: NO BROS are still fresh in their late days, and have teamed with numerous guests (including Tony Carey of Rainbow and Helmut Bibl of Drahdiwaberl) to submit a work of the late, which is likely to be a long dance on the Europe-wide rock parquet without rapid fatigue.
