Calico Jack was founded in 2011 by the brothers Toto(rhythm guitar) and Caps(drums) with the aim of merging legendary 80s heavy metal with modern Scandinavian folk metal, wrapping everything in a maritime atmosphere, inspired by folk songs and sea shanties of the Anglo-Saxon tradition. In June 2013 Calico Jack entered the Frequencies Studio of Monza to record an EP entitled "Panic In The Harbour" containing 4 brand new songs that combine the power of classic heavy with a massive amount of alcoholic folk. In 2019 the band released their first full-length under Italian label Underground Symphony, recorded at the Twilight Studio of Davide Tavecchia, with the collaboration of Laura Brancorsini (Furor Gallico) for the violin parts, and then at the Elnor Studio of Mattia Stancioiu(Labyrinth, Crown of Autumn) for mixing and mastering. The live activity in these years continues with many forays along the coasts of Italy, a first participation at the Malpaga Folk Fest with Tyr and opening dates for Furor Gallico, Negura Bunget, Storm Seeker, Diabula Rasa, Vision Divine and Elvenking.

Their sound is as theatrical as it is tight, often marked by high-energy rhythms, pirate-themed refrains and a stage presence that has earned them a loyal fanbase across Italy and beyond.Their discography includes the debut EP “Panic in the Harbour" (2013), their first full-length album in 2019 and “Isla de la Muerte” (2023) which marked their first collaboration with Rockshots Records.
