Bio:

Guitarist Richie Faulkner (Judas Priest), singer Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, MSG), bassist Dave Rimmer (Uriah Heep), and drummer Christopher Williams (Accept). Judging from its band members’ resumes, the newly-launched Elegant Weapons will rock ferociously. The band will be issuing their full-length debut, ‘Horns for a Halo,’ on May 26, 2023, which was produced by Andy Sneap and issued via Nuclear Blast Records. Why Elegant Weapons? In almost any endeavor, the craftsman needs the right tools for the job. For a musician, those tools are things like their instruments, their voices and the emotions that the right combination of all those can bring to the surface. So yes, it references our instruments and also this kind of music, where we’re carrying on the tradition of the greats like Sabbath and Dio but also bands the guys are connected to, like Rainbow, Pantera and Priest.”As for the music, Richie describes it as “a mix of Jimi Hendrix, Priest, Sabbath, solo Ozzy and Black Label Society, but with a lot of melody, sort of old school and modern at once if that makes any sense, and actually down-tuned a whole step. The Marshall Plexi basically does one thing, but you’ve got to crank it to 11 for it to have that distorted sound. It hasn’t got a lot of bells and whistles on it or different channels and effects. It basically does one thing and does it very well. But again down-tuning creates more of a modern sound, and by using the classic sound of the Marshall Plexi, you get that juxtaposition, that contrast. All told, there are a lot of guitar solos and the songs are on the heavier side. And even though there’s a lot of melody, it’s still going to shake your bones.”

Album:

Elegant Weapons is the remarkable heavy metal supergroup that has quickly made a name for itself on the music scene since its formation in October 2022! Following their debut in 2023, they are now returning with their second studio album, “Evolution.” The quartet of highly experienced hard rockers—guitarist Richie Faulkner [Judas Priest], singer Ronnie Romero [Rainbow, MSG], bassist Dave Rimmer [Uriah Heep], and drummer Christopher Williams [Accept]—has come together behind a shared vision. They have developed a distinctive metal style characterized by unparalleled riffs, surgically precise solos, powerful grooves, and rousing hooks. With the release of “Horns For A Halo” in 2023, the world got its first taste of Elegant Weapons. With the attention to detail of a craftsman and an innate knack for stadium-ready anthems, Elegant Weapons have evolved rapidly in real time and are charging ahead unabated with their second album, the aptly titled “Evolution.” Songs like “Evil Eyes,” “Generation Me,” or the first single “Bridges Burn” showcase Elegant Weapons at their heaviest yet. A highly dynamic, modern second album. Richie Faulkner’s plan for Elegant Weapons was to create music that crosses the boundary between classic and modern heavy metal. He envisioned a sound that would combine influences from legendary bands like Judas Priest and Black Sabbath with elements of Jimi Hendrix’s style, while simultaneously introducing something new. This ambition is reflected in the band’s music, which is characterized by heavy riffs, melodic undertones, and Faulkner’s drive to push the boundaries of traditional metal. The use of down-tuning and the legendary Marshall Plexi amplifiers gives their sound a modern edge and offers a contemporary take on classic heavy metal.
