GHOST AVENUE is a classic hard rock and heavy metal band from Norway...In Spring 2002 Kim "Ihzzy" Sandvik and Øystein "Oyz" Wiik got together and took the first steps of what would later become Ghost.In the basement of Ihzzy's house in the country side of Norway, Nesodden, the rock sound of the 80's was about to have a new dawn. With a cheap P.A system and an Ibanez guitar, songs where written and melodies cracked out like thunder through the night.The roaring sounds and laughter throughout the late hours, called upon Asbjørn Wiik's attention. With a third member now in place, it was about time to find a drummer to complete the bill….A year and a half later, after having tried out numerous drummers they finally found what they were looking for. A hard hitting drummer and his name is Petter “Criss” Lein. Through him, Ghost where now finally a four piece band.With a new location just outside Oslo Ghost could continue to make music history!In summer 2006, Asbjørn called it a quit and retired as bass player. He may be lost for Ghost, but not from the family. In to replace him came a truly skilled finger picking bass player, Magnus Liseter and the show could go on.After two more years they found out that something was missing, and to reach their goal of global domination, they knew that they had to find a second guitarist. And in winter 2008 Ghost finally became a hard hitting five piece. André Berger stepped up to the challenge to further tweak the music the world has been longing to hear for so long. He soon found his place in the band and is a vital part in the writing process.In November 2008 they had their first gig as a five-piece band at Skuret in Oslo. The place was packed and the gig went down like a storm!Ghost entered Nye Losjen Studios in February 2009 to record their first EP - Days Undercover. It received positive reviews from the metal press both in Norway and abroad.March of 2010 a new studio session was booked at Nye Losjen Studios and Ghost recorded what would be their debut full length album - The Engraving - released at the Jorn support gig at Kolben the 15th of May.

Norway’s GHOST AVENUE are back with a new album, in the shape of ”Full Throttle”. And it’s very much business as usual for this high-energy outfit from Oslo, which means a good thing: they stay faithful to the classic ’80s hard rock / traditional melodic metal from the glorious era.They add their own spin for sure, and an updated production, but listening to ”Full Throttle” is like finding some lost 1986 album with all the magic of that time.This is not a record pretending to be a revolution. It is not chasing modern extremity, progressive labyrinths or fashionable heaviness. Ghost Avenue play classic, melodic heavy metal & hard rock with a strong affection for the golden era of the 1980s — but they do not sound like a museum piece. They sound like a band that understands its musical language very well: Twisted Sister, Judas Priest, Accept, Pretty Maids and they feel no need to apologise for believing that traditional heavy metal still has real power.”Full Throttle” works exactly as its title suggests; eight tracks, no unnecessary stretching, no filler mentality. In classic metal, that matters. It is easy for this style to fall into excess: too much theatricality, too many solos, too much nostalgia. Ghost Avenue choose a more direct route. The album is compact, energetic and clearly designed to feel alive rather than over-polished.The greatest strength of ”Full Throttle” is its clarity. Ghost Avenue do not hide the songs behind studio tricks. The foundation is simple: riff, rhythm, melody, chorus. But simple does not mean weak. This kind of music depends on craft, and here you can hear a band that knows its tools.The guitars have the right bite and movement. The rhythm section keeps the songs pushing forward. The vocals sit firmly in the mix without being swallowed by the instrumentation. This is heavy metal built on motion, not atmosphere alone.Opening track “Killer” works as a classic first strike. It has the feel of a single: direct impact, clear hook, immediate energy. Its job is obvious open the gate, set the pace and show that Ghost Avenue are back after six years without losing momentum. It is not overly complex, but that is precisely why it works. It is a metal starter made to hit fast.“Highwayman” expands the road-driven spirit that has always belonged to classic hard rock and heavy metal. The title alone brings images of movement, night, speed and a lone figure travelling against the current. Ghost Avenue fit naturally into that landscape. Their music is not extreme in a modern sense, nor is it especially dark. It is driven instead by a kind of rock-and-metal romanticism — the old belief that a guitar can be an engine, a headlight and a symbol of freedom all at once.The title track “Full Throttle” feels like the album’s central statement. Not necessarily because it towers above everything else, but because it summarises the whole attitude of the record. This is music at full speed - not chaotic, not reckless, but committed. No hesitation, no calculation, no attempt to please whatever trend happens to be moving through the metal scene this month.Ghost Avenue sound like a band that knows classic heavy metal only works when it is played with conviction. Half-measures would be obvious immediately in this style.Another strong side of the album is its consistent emotional and thematic direction. “Wild And Free,” “Freedom Fighter,” “Coast To Coast” and “Ride The Night” do not form a strict concept album, but together they build a very clear world: the road, the night, space, movement, freedom, resistance.This is familiar territory for classic heavy metal fans, but Ghost Avenue use it without irony. That is important. This kind of music cannot survive cynicism. Either you believe in big choruses, twin guitars and songs that sound like they were made for the stage, or you should probably leave the style alone.“Wild And Free” is one of the moments where the band may appeal most strongly to fans of melodic heavy rock. It carries itself with an easy, open energy. “Coast To Coast” moves in a similar spirit, immediately suggesting a wider horizon. Ghost Avenue understand these classic images well. They do not overcomplicate them because they know their power lies in directness.“Freedom Fighter” brings a slightly more combative tone. In another context, the title could suggest political commentary, but here it fits mainly into the heavy metal tradition of resistance, independence and standing under pressure.The most atmospheric point of the album is probably “Seas Of Thunder.” The band described it in the press material as more varied and moody, and that makes sense within the flow of the record. The album needs this kind of track. If everything ran only on straight-ahead drive, even strong energy could become flat after a while. “Seas Of Thunder” gives the record a broader space without pulling it away from its chosen identity.Closing track “Ride The Night” works as a natural ending. It is classic, it is metal, and it fits the album perfectly. Ghost Avenue finish the record the same way they began it with guitars forward, no unnecessary decoration, and a clear belief in the simple force of traditional heavy metal executed with precision and fire.Full Throttle does not rewrite the rulebook, but it plays very well by the rules it chooses.This is an album for listeners who still believe in sharp riffs, big choruses, melody and stage-ready energy. Ghost Avenue are not trying to sound like a young band chasing algorithms. They sound like experienced musicians who understand what classic heavy metal is and… they write some darn catchy rockin’ tunes.
