Rising from the ashes of the acclaimed Green Dollar Colour, Koritni was formed in 2006 by Australian singer/songwriter Lex Koritni, since then Koritni has been ascending through the ranks of the international rock scene with an ever-increasing influence. Starting off with a tour in France and Belgium in spring 2006, where they opened for Scorpions, the band established itself in early 2007 with the release of their album Lady Luck.Mixed by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica), Lady Luck won over a European rock press who sung its praises: Rock Hard and Rock N’Folk in France, Classic Rock in the U.K, Rock Tribune in Belgium, Aardschock in Holland and This Is Rock in Spain to name just a few. This enabled the band to go back on tour in Europe, covering 37 shows and performing at prestigious events such as Le Mans 24h Motorcycle Race and Bol d’Or in Magny-Cours. This tour was celebrated with the release of the double CD/DVD live Red Live Joint in April 2008, scoring again 8/10 in the English magazine Classic Rock.The 16th of March 2009 saw Koritni back in business with Game Of Fools. This new album comprising of 13 tracks was produced by Anton Hagop (Silverchair,Powderfinger), once again mixed by giant Mike Fraser in association with Dan Leffler and mastered by Ryan Smith at the legendary Sterling Sound studios in New-York. In addition to a remarkable sound, the band forethought the aesthetics by having the album’s cover artwork designed by Mark Wilkinson (Iron Maiden, Marillion, Judas Priest). Game of fools is a harmonious synthesis of the direct Lady Luck and the more venturesome styling of Green Dollar Colour.This new opus states a matured sound revealing the true energy carried by the band, an alchemy that is strengthened by their touring experience, fortified by their musical convictions, and reinforced by an unchanged line up from day one.

Some records just hit you in an instant, never to get off your mind again. This is the case with KORITNI 2009’s second album “Game Of Fools“, reissued 2024 by Bad Reputation Records now including 3 bonus tracks and featured in exclusive at our blog.Led by singer / songwriter Lex Koritni, this Aussie band music is all about having a good time: timeless riff-driven rock n’ roll. Producer Anton Hagop did a great job getting the best out of these guys, and legend Mike Fraser‘s mixing abilities are, as usual, superb, obtaining a lively feel.From the opening riff of first track “155” right to the softly sung ending of the brilliant “The Devil’s Daughter” there is a not a dull note in sight. The songwriting is clever and spiced up with a lot of fine details, the band sounds great with a varied guitar set-up sound, and above all shines Lex Koritni‘s unmistakably raspy and powerful voice, which is up there with all the all-time greats. This guys got it all in his lungs; the straight-ahead rockers, the radio-friendly ballads (“You vs. Me” and the aforementioned “Devil’s Daughter”), or the ‘simple’ blues (“Deranged”), it is pure rock ‘n roll.And we haven’t even listed all the highlights on ”Game Of Fools” yet, which include the ecstatic “By My Side” and especially “Tornado Dreaming”. The later is split into two songs / tracks, although we recommend listening to it as one song – an epic about life, which makes you cry and smile with its changes in mood and ‘oh so true’ lyrics!Actually it is this “Tornado Dreaming” song(s) which makes this CD nothing short of a 2000’s cult album.Koritni sure as hell wear their influences (mainly AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, plus other Eighties bands) on their sleeves, but they do it with such a passion for their music that it seems impossible not to like them. More proof? The bonus tracks are covers of ’80s classics – from Bon Jovi to Michael Jackson.
