Info:

Teaze is a Canadian hard rock band formed in Windsor, Ontario in 1975. The band released four studio albums and a live album recorded in Japan. They were discovered by Mel Shaw who produced a bunch of demos with the band to help them launch their career. The band and Shaw loved the songs so much that they decided to turn it in a full album. This LP was released with Force One Records, a division of London Records.Aquarius years: Bob Rags,Terry Flood, Donald Tarlton aka Donald K. Donald, and Aquarius Records discovered and signed Teaze with Aquarius Records They first seen the group at the famed RPM convention in Toronto Canada. The group was then purchased from Force One Records, Mel Shaw and then personal manager Stan Witcher..Their only hit single had been released with this label on their second album, On The Loose. It was a slow ballad called Sweet Misery. In 1977, they moved to Montreal and starting touring all over US and Canada without getting much visibility. Their big-break happened in Sept. of 1978, when they toured in Japan for ten days. The reception was so favorable that they recorded a live album there: Tour Of Japan. When they came back to their new adopted hometown, they met Myles Goodwyn, leader of the band April Wine who was signed with Aquarius Records since the very beginning. Goodwyn produced One Night Stands. The result of that album was a lot more serious than their firsts two releases. It consequentially ended up being their only U.S./worldwide release on Capitol/Aquarius Records. They also toured all around the world to spread their popularity without a lot of success. Body Shots, the last record recorded by Teaze was produced by Nick Blagona who some attribute a major factor in the demise of the band.As a consequence the last album "Body Shots" did not produce any hits, Brian Danter left the group to pursue his life long religious calling, Aquarius Records and the band failed to find a suitable replacement. Aquarius Records lost interest in the band and decided to break the contract. The band split-up at that time.Aftermath:Myles Goodwyn produced two best-of compilations after Teaze's break-up. Those albums also been released by Aquarius.[6] One of these album, A Taste Of Teaze became their best seller. The song Heartless World from the album One Nights Stands was featured in the 2014 Icelandic movie Málmhaus (aka Metalhead). The song Heartless World was also featured in a movie called "Twists of Terror" starring Donald Sutherland.

Album:

Album recorded at Golden Age Rock Festival, Centre Cultural De Chenée, Liège, Belgium 30/09 to 01/10/2023.Remember the formation Teaze from Canada? In the years 1975-1980 they release a bunch of albums including the live recordings ‘Tour Of Japan’ and ‘One Night Stands’, that is being seen as their best studio-effort, produced by April Wine boss Myles Goodwin (RIP). After a rather disappointing album called ‘Body Shots’ singer/bass player Brian Danter left the group to follow his religious beliefs. The other musicians did not find a suitable singer and as their label Aquarius pulled the plug on them the group ceased to exist, leaving just a bunch of good memories and several good records behind. But as is often the case after a hiatus the blood starts boiling again and in 2019 Danter, flamboyant lead-guitarist Mark ‘The Pawnman’ Bradac, drummer Mike Kozak and newest recruit Chuck Lambrick (he replaced original guitarist Chuck Price) started Teaze again. Mainly playing in their home country for the first years after their reunion, Belgian promoters Henri Gauthier and Marc Tombal invited Teaze to play at The Golden Age Rock Festival, so on September 30, 2023 the Canadians rocked this festival in the city of Liege and managed to film and record their performance (there is some footage on YouTube). The CD is now being released in Europe just after the band released ‘Live In Liege’ themselves and selling the product during gigs. I believe that in The Benelux you can get a copy through Discogs. According to my information there was a plan to also release it on vinyl and accompany that with some new studio recordings but that might be something for somewhere in 2025. For now, it is just the live-CD that is floating about and after hearing the thirteen songs on this release it is safe to say that these Canadian veterans still know how to rock and how to create a rock and roll party. Is Teaze has not released a new record since their restart this live-concert is a look at their past. All their four studio-releases are featured. It is a true trip through memory lane indeed. The execution is flawless, Danter has not lost any sharpness in his voice, Bradac still is a cheeky performer and Mike Kozak hits it where it hurts, not missing a beat at all. It is great to hear decent heavy rockers such as ,,On The Loose’’, ,,Back In Action’’, the evergreen ,,Gonna Have A Good Time Tonight’’, ,,Ready To Move’’ and ,,I’m Not Gonna Cry Anymore’’ once again. All played in the typical Teaze style. No nonsense heavy rock, straight from the hip and right in your face.‘Live In Liege’ is an exciting rock and roll record. The Teaze boys have not lost much of their touch and although progressed in age still enthusiastic and very capable to create a good atmosphere. I realise that not many modern-day rockers will be familiar with the past of these Canadian lads, but if you are in the mood for some good old fashioned heavy rock ‘Live In Liege’ is yours for the taking. And if you are checking out this album it might pay to look for older stuff as well, including two compilation albums. The album is also available via Tromhell, a Canadian CD store on line.
