Bio:

Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1980 in Richmond, California.Spanning a career of 34 years, Exodus has gone through numerous lineup changes, two extended hiatuses, and the deaths of two former band members. Guitarist Gary Holt joined the band shortly after its formation and has remained the only constant member of Exodus since and appears on all their releases. Drummer Tom Hunting is one of the original members, and departed from the band twice, in 1989 and 2004, but rejoined in 2007.To date, Exodus has released nine studio albums, two live albums and two compilations. The band had particular success in the mid-to-late 1980s, and their first three albums (Bonded by Blood, Pleasures of the Flesh and Fabulous Disaster) cemented Exodus' reputation as one of the most successful thrash metal bands. The critical praise given to Fabulous Disaster garnered attention from major labels, including Capitol Records, with whom Exodus would eventually sign in 1989. Exodus released two more albums (Impact Is Imminent and Force of Habit) before disbanding in 1993. After a temporary return in 1997-1998, Exodus reformed for a second time in 2001, and since then, they have released four more albums, the most recent being 2010's Exhibit B: The Human Condition. The band will release their tenth studio album, Blood In, Blood Out, in October 2014.Exodus have sold over 5 million albums worldwide as of 2013.

Album:

Fabulous Disaster?is the third studio album by American thrash metal band EXODUS, released on January 30, 1989. ?Exodus toured for five months to promote?the release of Fabulous Disaster and embarked on a month-long European tour?with Nuclear Assault and Acid Reign. The band wrapped up the album tour, performing at The Fillmore in San Francisco?on July 14, 1989, which was recorded for the band's first live album Good Friendly Violent Fun and released two years later. However, things could have been different back then, because on the night of March 8, 1989 another show was recorded, a show that saw them destroy the stage of The Astoria in London! A night that went down in history and became legendary among Exodus and thrash metal fans worldwide! This recording has remained unheard and kept?in the Exodus vaults until now! 35 years later this rager of a show will finally be released for the first time ever!“Holy shit….” That was my reaction after listening to this incredible new live release from the one and only Bay Area crushers themselves, Exodus. What a fucking show! Wow. The tempo, aggression, and “friendly violence” on display here is truly something else. Zetro’s vocals are on point and spitting serious venom as usual, the H-team is in full force completely destroying and Tom Hunting is wrecking his kit into smithereens. This is peak Exodus, plain and simple. 1989 was basically a peak for thrash in general when it comes down to it, so this show makes total sense with how precise and destructive it is. The vibe was in the air, in more ways than one. It’s all here, folks. Great setlist, high energy and forceful impact. I’m very glad the Exodus camp chose wisely in which show to put out for an archival release, because this one is a doozy. Also, let’s talk about the absolutely stellar mix attached to this bad boy. Whoever mixed this deserves a fucking medal, no bullshit. It’s one of best sounding live metal shows I’ve heard, let alone for 1989. Every instrument is balanced perfectly and the low end is very prominent, something typically missing from live thrash shows. It’s a proverbial “grand slam, as they say. I can’t emphasize enough how hard this show crushes. The solos Rick and Gary exchange are phenomenally brutal and executed to perfection. It’s the full package and then some. The entire show is a highlight, but if I were to really narrow it down, I’d say Verbal Razors, Corruption, Parasite, Last Act of Defiance, Piranha and A Lesson in Violence really do it for me. They just hit that perfect live thrash spot only Exodus can do, personally speaking. This band truly was ontop of their A game from 85’-92’ and were a force to be reckoned with. I’m stoked they chose to put out such an absolute head crusher of a show, because it truly represents what these guys were doing at the time, which was making people hit the fucking floor and crawl away. The only reason I’m giving this a 95% out of full 100% is because I am partial to, what I believe, is the absolute greatest live recorded Exodus show in existence, which is 04/02/90 in San Francisco. That show is on YouTube in full soundboard quality, so listen to that if you want your head completely ripped off in a matter of seconds. It’s excellent. Either way though, “British Disaster” is an absolutely stellar live release worthy of endless praise. It was an audible snapshot in time that captured live thrash excellence at its finest. I, for one, will be blasting this frequently for a very long time to come. If you like pure, unadulterated live thrash at its peak, listen to this at all costs. On a quick side note, the vinyl release is pressed in a gold color, so you know this shit is worthy of being in a vault.
