Bio:
Formed by lead singer/guitarist Brian Curtis in Hollywood, CA in 1988, Bad Attitude is a high energy rock band that headlined the famous Sunset Strip night clubs in Hollywood, CA from the late 1980's - 1990's.After a few years of playing the LA scene, Frank and Ian decided to pursue other interests. Brian and Lonny had no intentions of doing anything else but to continue with Bad Attitude, so after weeks of auditions they met drummer Brian Lockerman and bassist Alyx Galan. The 4 members then began playing the LA scene again and writing new material. The band continued to showcase for record labels and played some great shows in what would come to be known as “The Hollywood Era”. Unfortunately, right at the peak of their popularity the music scene quickly changed, and all focus turned to “The Seattle Grunge” sound. This and the fact that in order to play the popular Hollywood and LA venues, bands were being forced to sell tickets to their shows, eventually led to the death of many bands in Los Angeles. They continued to play the scene until they officially disbanded in 1993.
Album:
L.A.’s BAD ATTITUDE, just one of the many bands with this moniker in the ’80s, may very well be the best of them all. The band recorded many songs between 1988 – 1991, all with very good production, but the elusive record deal never arrived. Now FnA Records is releasing BAD ATTITUDE’s best tunes remastered on a CD titled ”Right From The Start”.And BAD ATTITUDE were good. From the scream n’ shout melodic hard rockers “Love ‘em and Leave ’em” and ”Action” to the what would’ve been a big MTV power ballad ”What About You Girl”. These guys showcase here the unequitable diversity of the songwriting and the quality recordings that were missing from so many of their underground counterparts at the time.BAD ATTITUDE built up their reputation playing all the big clubs in Hollywood, gaining legions of fans and eventually a regular draw. This led to the coveted opening gigs for bands like Warrant, Poison, Hurricane and countless others. In turn, this all led to the interest from the major labels and showcase after showcase. All too often management would make bad decisions or an A&R Rep would move on, and it just didn’t happen for them. Many bands experienced this main trajectory thus many capable and qualified bands went by the wayside.Bad Attitude was formed by lead singer / guitarist Brian Curtis in Hollywood, CA in 1988. Brian and the guys worked really hard and were gaining great respect for their music and live show. This was known as the “The Hollywood Era”.But this era was short-lived as bands were being required to Pay To Play and / or sell tickets to their own shows… even if they could bring a large audience. The band officially ended their run in 1993.This 18 track album entitled ”Right From The Start” is full of good, fun late 80s melodic rockers, power ballads and everything in between; it is made up of tracks recorded from 1988-1991. Yeah, there were hundreds of bands like this, however BAD ATTITUDE wrote very good, consistent songs for the genre.
