Bio:
Satan are a heavy metal band originating from Newcastle, England in 1979, known as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. The band is considered influential for playing a form of proto-thrash/speed metal that was fairly advanced by the standards of the early 1980s.Their line-up has undergone a number of personnel changes and even name changes; for a time the band was called Blind Fury, putting out one album, 1985's Out of Reach, under that moniker before reverting to Satan. In 1988, the group changed its name to Pariah, releasing two albums under that name before folding in the early 90s. In 1998, Pariah released another album. The band's shifting line-up has included members of many other heavy metal bands such as Blitzkrieg, Atomkraft, Avenger, Persian Risk, Cronos and Battleaxe. In 1990, Steve Ramsey (guitar) and Graeme English (bass) together with singer Martin Walkyier of UK thrash metal band Sabbat founded folk metal band Skyclad.Satan would change their name to Blind Fury after the release of their debut ''Court In The Act''. The former singer Brian Ross was replaced by Lou Taylor who was in Satan once before and himself was also, ironically, replaced by Brian Ross. After they released ''Out Of Reach'' they changed their name back to Satan and Michael Jackson joined on vocals. In 1988, they changed their name again, this time to The Kindred and then to Pariah. They recorded two more albums and then quit, with a reformed version of Pariah releasing a third album in 1997.Satan reuinted for a series of shows in 2004, and then again permanently in 2011.With regards to the band's name, Steve Ramsey said in a 2013 interview: "The judge was always part of it, the judge and the the devil. That’s the basic theme of the whole band, you know. Satan isn’t occult or anything like that, the whole idea of the band is injustice. It’s all about injustice."
Album:
'Earth Infernal' is a product of the times that birthed it, and could only be the work of Satan. Having churned out cutting edge heavy metal throughout the 80's - and reunited in 2011 - their sixth full-length maintains the high standard they long ago set, and it is perhaps their timeliest release. "For two years the world has been preoccupied with politics and pandemics and while we were all looking the other way our planet has continued to get hotter," says guitarist Russ Tippins. "Our Earth is now infernally hot. Almost irreversibly so. We are on a one way trip to Hell and dragging our children and their children along with us. Yes, Satan has something to say about global warming."
