Born and raised in Michigan, Geoff took a leap of faith, leaving behind the comforts of home and the family business to pursue his dream of making it in the music industry in Nashville. Four decades and over twenty-five albums later Geoff looks back now knowing he made the right choice, hearing God’s voice through the clamor of life.Starting his career as a solo artist in 1984, Geoff quickly gained recognition for his unique blend of pop and rock-infused sound with heartfelt Christian messages. In 1987, he formed the band Geoff Moore and The Distance, which became his trusted touring band for more than a decade. Together, they released eight albums that produced an impressive string of No.1 radio hits, captivating audiences with their powerful music and lyrics.A perennial chart-topping singer/songwriter, Geoff has received numerous accolades, including multiple Grammy nominations and Dove Awards. His chart-topping success and ability to touch the hearts of listeners have solidified his position as one of the leading voices in Christian music.Beyond his musical achievements, Geoff is also known for his deep passion for the great outdoors. His music resonates with audiences worldwide, offering hope, encouragement, and a profound reminder of God’s love.Through his unwavering dedication and steadfast belief, Geoff continues to inspire countless individuals around the globe with his music and his unwavering faith.
Album:
Some time ago we featured here remastered reissues of CCM artist GEOFF MOORE, now Girder Records is covering his second half of the ’80s era when Geoff formed his backing band “The Distance“.Released 1989 and produced by White Heart’s founding member Billy Smiley, on ”Foundations” you can expect a pristine sound wrapping the album’s melodic AOR nature. With a radio friendly approach and catchy guitar hooks, this 1989 release set the tone for a career that would span decades. Tracks like “Tearin’ Down The Walls,” “I Found Love,” and “Winds of Change” showcase the band’s ability to craft memorable melodies. Now part of the ‘Legends of Rock’ series, this remastered reissue restores the album’s crisp, radio-ready sheen—faithfully preserved and elevated by the Girder treatment. But possibly the most fascinating thing of this good AOR / melodic rock album by Geoff Moore and The Distance is that Dann Huff (Giant / White Heart) contributed to the lead guitar work but has gone un-credited for years, until now.If you’ve ever wondered why the guitars on ”Foundations” sound so powerful, polished, and downright addictive, there’s a good reason — they feature the legendary Dann Huff. Before becoming one of Nashville’s most sought-after producers and a four-time Grammy winner, Huff was a world-class session guitarist and frontman for the melodic rock band Giant. In the ’80s, his signature tone and soaring solos could be heard on albums by Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Petra, White Heart, and Stryper. On these Geoff Moore records, Huff’s playing injects arena-rock energy and melodic precision, giving the songs the same AOR magic you’d hear from greats like Journey or Toto. Now available for the first time in over 35 years on remastered CD as part of the ”Legends of Rock” series, the album has received the full Girder treatment, which includes audio remastering by Rob Colwell and redesigned layouts by Scott Waters, 8 page booklets in a jewel case with trading cards. When an album receives ‘The Girder Treatment’, it’s more than a reissue—it’s a resurrection, restored with unparalleled attention to detail with all original liner notes and lyrics and then some. Everything collectors want and expect, carefully curated to honor the music and the memories.
