US melodic rock/aor band from the Cleveland area which was formed in the fall of 1987. After recording studio tracks, lineup changes and showcasing for various record companies, Dreamstreet disbanded.Beginning as a studio project, DREAMSTREET was formed in the Fall of 1987. Ron Redfield, Tony Artino & Nick LePar, fellow band mates from a local Cleveland group named Quick, teamed up and began to write new material for a side project which became DREAMSTREET.Once the new songs were completed, the guys were ready to go into the studio and start recording. A good friend to the band, Kevin Valentine (DONNIE IRIS, THE INNOCENT), was brought on board as producer/engineer.At this point, DREAMSTREET did not decide on a lead vocalist as of yet.When the music tracks were completed and it was time to lay down the vocals, Kevin suggested bringing in his fellow band mate from THE INNOCENT, frontman Rodney Psyka. Then everything fell into place and the DREAMSTREET puzzle was completed.The band would go on to showcase for record companies with no avail, one of them asking to postpone the project for the next year. Some band members didn’t wanted to wait and DREAMSTREET disbanded a less than a year of its foundation.Since then, DREAMSTREET has periodically reunited to perform as an opening act for many national artists playing the Cleveland/Akron concert venues including a televised 1999/2000 New Years Eve concert at Cleveland’s Public Square for an audience of over 100,000.

Classic ’80s AOR fans will remember Cleveland’s DREAMSTREET for sure. The band’s unreleased 1986-87 recordings were finally released some years ago under the title “Heartzone“ (featured at 0dayrox), a wonderful slice of pure US Melodic Rock / AOR with ‘that’ classy style and good production. Think AVIATOR, PREVIEW, JOURNEY, etc.DREAMSTREET continued together in one way or another and some time ago other Cleveland AORster, Frank Amato, the lead singer of the long-running local rock act Beau Coup, contacted DREAMSTREET to produce their new songs the band had been performing in recent time.Additionally, Amato suggest to finally properly re-record some DREAMSTREET ’80s songs, and the result is “Dreamstreet 2.0“, a trip back to an era when rock music was about melodies, catchy choruses and a feel good vibe.At it’s best, on the glorious stripped-back pomp of Power of Love or the honk-fuelled strut of Head Troubles, Cleveland’s Dreamstreet draw a direct line back to the glory days of Midwestern AOR when bands like Survivor were Lords of all they surveyed.This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the band’s prime mover, guitarist Ron Redfield, is a child of that time; It’s clearly a style of music that’s in his blood, in his very marrow indeed, and you can feel the sincerity ooze out of every supremely constructed pore of Dreamstreet 2.0. Love Is Alive, for instance, is the sort of song you sense would have set Ohio’s FM radio stations alight had it been released in 1978, and if such success is beyond this band’s reach now we should at least give praise that we are able to enjoy it pounding out of our speakers nonetheless…But, as Survivor reminded us on their magnum opus Vital Signs, it’s the singer not the song, and Redfield’s songwriting smarts are given full chance to flourish under the vocal stewardship of Steve Segetic, who puts in spine tingling (dare I say Bickleresque?) performances throughout. His singing on the martial, heavy AOR of Heartzone is, well, heart stopping in it’s excellence, as is Redfield’s majestic solo mid song. This is truly amazing stuff to be hearing from a ‘new’ band in 2023, let me tell ya!As the old Gods of AOR wither on the vine amongst an ever more weakening farrago of retirements, lineup changes, ego-fuelled bickering and the sound of collective artistic wells running dry, it’s genuinely exciting to hear music this good appearing as if from nowhere. If you count yourself a fan of chunky, guitar-driven AOR of the old school then permit me to introduce you to what is certain to be your fave album of 2023. You can thank me later!
