Bio:

Demon Eye was unearthed in Raleigh, North Carolina during the Spring of 2012. Shortly thereafter, the band was receiving international recognition for their highly acclaimed songcraft and their stunning live performances. Demon Eye channels the introspective darkness of Pentagram, the heavy grooves of Black Sabbath, and the fist-banging shred of early Iron Maiden. They have shared the stage with the likes of Corrosion of Conformity, High on Fire, Spirit Caravan, The Sword, King’s X, Loincloth, YOB, Witch Mountain, Lord Dying, and many more of their heavy brethren. Demon Eye has been featured in Iron Fist UK, Classic Rock Magazine, Premier Guitar Magazine, Terrorizer, Metal Temple, and Destructive music, (the latter of whom claimed the band is “as close to musical perfection as it is humanly possible to get.” In early 2014 they released their Soulseller Records debut, “Leave the Light,” which met with excellent worldwide reviews and earned them festival invites to play alongside the best of the best. Three years into their career, they released their second album, titled “Tempora Infernalia,”which brought them to even wider audiences and solidified their fan base within the international metal community at large. Demon Eye remains hellbent on bringing their hook-laden, dark riffin' songcraft to fans far and wide.

Album:

It`s nothing new that the most bands these days try to revive or just to keep alive the sound of the great bands of the 70`s and 80`s. In this case, you can see most influence in a form of BLACK SABBATH and DEEP PURPLE. Usually, they fail, because the sound is just excessively similar, that it looks like more of copycat than paying the homage to the band. With DEMON EYE, that`s not the case. They found out the perfect recipe to keep the sound alive without sounding too much like the bands they looked up to.After the release of their debut “Shades of the Black” as EP this year, “Leave the Light” is the first full-length album for DEMON EYE, and it will see the light of the day in early 2014. You can say that the song structure is classic one, cause to be honest, all has been invented few decades ago, and there`s really no point in changing the thing that has been working for decades, is there? The definite highlights of the album are guitars, whose riffs irresistibly resemble the best works of the fore mentioned bands. Songs are perfectly composed, so there`s nothing that`s lacking or being overused. Flawlessly production made it sound like you`re listening it from the Vinyl, and it`s not a bad thing. Just gives it additional “old school” taste. There`s whole lot of variety, and the album still sounds nicely wrapped up. The Psychedelic sound is present along with the Heavy Metal base. It`s all perfectly balanced. The album has 11 tracks, each carrying something of their own. There`s no repetition. One of the best ones is “Fires of Abalam”, and the catchiest most definitely is “The Devil Knows the Truth”.“Leave The Light” may be first full-length album for this North Carolina guys, but they sound like they`ve been around for quite a while. If you`re enjoying the “old-school” sound of Heavy Metal /Hard Rock, this is most definitely band you should pay attention to.

Album:

DEMON EYE are back with their third offering and another dose of their own blend of Heavy Classic Rock, Proto Metal and Traditional Doom! The new album “Prophecies and Lies” was recorded by Mike Dean of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY in the band’s hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina, and displays a strong musical progression with mighty riffs, haunting melodies and fist-raising anthems. DEMON EYE are bringing vintage heavy darkness for modern times and current day evils, giving their listeners dynamic songs to empower them against all adversaries. Now, some of these occult doom rock bands that have come around lately ain’t no count, but Demon Eye… Demon Eye is pretty decent. I was a fan of their last album, Tempora Infernalia, which made its way onto my larger Top 25 list a couple years back, so a new record from this North Carolina outfit is much appreciated. This 11-track effort opens with “The Waters and the Wild,” which opens with a flourish before locking into a solid Pentagram-style proto-doom riff. They do pick up the pace a little bit, sounding sorta like vintage Trouble (no, not the soul band!) before delivering a deliver-us-from-evil chorus. So far, we’re off to an outstanding start! “In The Spider’s Eye” is chock-a-block with stop-start riffs, with a chorus that wouldn’t sound outta place on Psalm 9. And man, is that ever a doomy riff that hits around the 2:45 mark! With an average track length right around four minutes, they cycle through these tunes pretty quickly. “Kismet” has a swirling riff reminiscent of Iron Maiden, while “Infinite Regress” switches things up with a mellower, almost jazzy break. “Dying for It” is a little more up-tempo, with a pounding, chugging riff and a vocal delivery that sounds like Deep Purple, or maybe even Dio. And there’s sort of a COC riff that’s pervasive in “Politic Devine”—this record was produced by Mike Dean after all.If there’s one complaint, it’s that some of these shorter songs do blend together as they fly past you—but this is but a minor complaint. As far as the retro-rock/proto-doom spectrum is concerned, you might not hear a better album this year.
