Stan Bush is an American singer-songwriter and musician whose most notable work includes the songs "Dare" and "The Touch" from the soundtrack to the 1986 animated film The Transformers: The Movie, and "She's Got the Power", featured in the American voice dub of the animated series Sailor Moon. He also had one track on children's album Take My Hand - Songs from the 100 Acre Wood entitled "That's What Tiggers Do Best," released in 1995. Other notable works include the songs "Never Surrender," "Streets of Siam," and "Fight for Love" from the movie Kickboxer, and "Fight to Survive" and "On My Own - Alone", the theme from Bloodsport. In 1987, Bush (and back-up band Barrage) wrote and recorded the ballad "Love Don't Lie", which became a minor MTV hit when covered a year later by House Of Lords.Bush submitted two tracks for the producers of the 2007 live action Transformers movie, but they were not included on the final soundtrack. However, on July 3, 2007, Bush re-released his album In This Life with the two additional tracks he submitted for the Transformers soundtrack, which include an updated version of "The Touch", and an updated version of his song from BotCon 1997, "Ground Zero", retitled "'Till All Are One". Bush also recorded another, markedly different version of "The Touch" which was at first rumoured for possible inclusion in the 2009 sequel Revenge of the Fallen.[1] The 2007 version of "The Touch" was later released as a free downloadable track for the video game Guitar Hero World Tour.[2] More recently, Bush's aforementioned "Till All Are One" was used as the end credits song for 2010 video game Transformers: War for Cybertron.Bush's latest studio album is Dream the Dream, which was released on September 15, 2010 through LA Records. STAN BUSH self-titled debut LP “Stan Bush” garnered healthy critical acclaim and cemented Bush’s reputation as one of the top class songwriter of ’80s Melodic Rock / AOR music.With a crisp production by Kevin Beamish (REO Speedwagon, Y&T), some of the best session musicians from the L.A. scene like Alan Pasqua, Mike Baird or Leland Sklar, and packed with terrific songs, this is one of best debut albums from the early Eighties American Melodic Rock / AOR era.It should be noted that Bush & management could have hired top session six-string players as well, but Stan decided to record every guitar heard on this recording. Apart from his smooth vocals and excellent songwriting abilities, Stan Bush owns a distinctive guitar style as well.Here’s the crystal clear remastered reissue by Rock Candy.From the irresistible opener “It’s Hot”, the glorious AOR of “Say The Word”, “Keep Your Love Alive” and “Say The Word” to the supreme ballad “Can’t Live Without Love”, this disc represents the true first half of the ’80s sound in this genre like few, still sounding fresh today.All tracks are great, but my absolute favorite is the classic “Fire In My Heart”, which is worth the price of this disc alone.Bush co-wrote all the songs except “All American Boy” penned by another AOR myth; Van Stephenson, who later will record his own version. This track is slightly different sonically, produced by legend Andy Johns who also engineered the whole album.Although Stan Bush’s second album is the best of his career, this self-titled debut runs close sporting all the hooks, feeling and magic from the seminal US Melodic Rock AOR sounds. It's been a long, long time - five years, to be exact - since STAN BUSH released a milestone in AOR with the "Stan Bush And Barrage" album, then toured German clubs with Lou Gramm, who had just left his band Foreigner at the time, and finally did a few shows of his own. After that, at least in this country, there was a great silence around the man with the distinctive voice. In his native America, STAN BUSH quickly made a name for himself through his studio work and as the composer of various commercial melodies, which made him one of the greats in the songwriter's guild. "Every Beat Of My Heart" shows the maestro far less rocking than in the past, but songs like 'Could This Be Love', 'Straight To The Top' or 'Can't Hide Love' are once again captivating due to their sophisticated arrangements and melody lines, which should guarantee radio airplay, and their characteristic voice. By way of information, it should be noted that the majority of the ten songs on the album were written in collaboration with Jim Vallance (who has worked with Aerosmith and Bryan Adams) and ex-Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain. Names that stand for class, for people who simply have the proverbial hang of writing a potential single hit. Needless to say, "Every Beat Of My Heart" is packed with such songs, but for me personally it lacks the appropriate drive a few times. Still, a fat seven points for an album that AOR fanatics should have in their collection.

New album from the AOR legend.Stan Bush is back with a brand new studio album his eleventh, which he has named ‘Dream The Dream’, and I know that when we get to review new CD’s, we reviewers usually write stuff like - this is his/her/their best album in years etc, well guess what that’s exactly what this new album from Stan Bush is. This new release you see is one of the best albums in the Stan’s long career and maybe in my opinion his best ever and I’ll tell you why I think that. It’s because each of the songs bar one (more of which later), is an uplifting, heart warming, infectious, fun track that makes no bones about being AOR, in fact the tracks glorify in the fact that they are AOR songs and to tell you the truth whilst listening to them I had a silly grin on my face and found the tracks to be down right fun to listen to. Which I’m sad to say seems to be missing from a lot of other AOR releases these days, maybe they can use these songs as an AOR blueprint from now on.Does the album though break new ground in any way? No it doesn’t, but what it does do is make you feel good, which I suppose is what music is all about, the way it makes you feel as you listen to it. With ‘Dream The Dream’ Stan and his regular cohorts Holger Fath, Matt Laug and Matt Bissonette have recorded what can only be described as an AOR master class, which will have the pink and fluffy (copyright Derek Oliver) brigade doing cartwheels as they listen to it, believe me when I say it has everything a member of the AOR Mafia could want. Yet what of the song I mentioned earlier the one that strays from the AOR path? Well it’s none other that Stan’s most famous song ‘The Touch’ which has been renamed ‘Sam’s Theme‘, and is so different from the original that it is almost a brand new song. The track is now full of down tuned guitars and weird arrangements yet in essence it still is ‘The Touch’, and what Stan and the guys have done to it is nothing short of genius (wait until you hear it).Now you might have guessed that I quite like this album, which when you get to hear it for yourselves will come as no surprise at all. AOR album of 2010??? No, no questions marks, the answer is a resounding yes.

Stan Bush is an American singer-songwriter and musician whose most notable work includes the songs "Dare" and "The Touch" from the soundtrack to the 1986 animated film The Transformers: The Movie, and "She's Got the Power", featured in the American voice dub of the animated series Sailor Moon. He also had one track on children's album Take My Hand - Songs from the 100 Acre Wood entitled "That's What Tiggers Do Best," released in 1995. Other notable works include the songs "Never Surrender," "Streets of Siam," and "Fight for Love" from the movie Kickboxer, and "Fight to Survive" and "On My Own - Alone", the theme from Bloodsport. In 1987, Bush (and back-up band Barrage) wrote and recorded the ballad "Love Don't Lie", which became a minor MTV hit when covered a year later by House Of Lords.Bush submitted two tracks for the producers of the 2007 live action Transformers movie, but they were not included on the final soundtrack. However, on July 3, 2007, Bush re-released his album In This Life with the two additional tracks he submitted for the Transformers soundtrack, which include an updated version of "The Touch", and an updated version of his song from BotCon 1997, "Ground Zero", retitled "'Till All Are One". Bush also recorded another, markedly different version of "The Touch" which was at first rumoured for possible inclusion in the 2009 sequel Revenge of the Fallen.[1] The 2007 version of "The Touch" was later released as a free downloadable track for the video game Guitar Hero World Tour.[2] More recently, Bush's aforementioned "Till All Are One" was used as the end credits song for 2010 video game Transformers: War for Cybertron.Bush's latest studio album is Dream the Dream, which was released on September 15, 2010 through LA Records. The album contains 11 new songs written and performed by Stan Bush and studio musicians, as well as a cover of perhaps his most popular song, "The Touch", which was originally re-recorded for inclusion in 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen film, but was ultimately not included. His first full-studio effort since 2007's In This Life, it gathered positive reviews from fans and critics alike.In 2011, Bush recorded "High Noon Theme" for the wrestling promotion Chikara, which was a parody of the theme song for the 80s cartoon M.A.S.K.

A Stan Bush record is like an episode of “Modern Family”— you can always count on it being good. The Ultimate, his twelfth studio album in over 30 years, is no exception. And to be clear, it’s not a greatest hits record but it’s certainly filled with some great hits. It’s packed with soaring vocals, uplifting lyrics, beautiful melodies, rocking guitars and outstanding keyboards. Basically your typical Stan Bush release; reliable like an old hound dog sitting dutifully at the feet of his master’s rocking chair.For the uninitiated, or someone like Patrick Starr who has been living under a rock for the past three decades, Stan Bush is an Emmy Award winning AOR singer/songwriter who consistently releases high quality, keyboard-heavy, melodic hard rock with a classic ‘80s sound in a similar vein to legendary artists like Journey, Survivor, Foreigner, and others.The album kicks off strong with the mid-tempo “Something to Believe.” A piano/keyboard intro is followed by Stan’s smooth voice which is accentuated nicely by some tasty guitars and a killer chorus. Visions of classic Loverboy hit you immediately. This is followed by the title track, “The Ultimate,” which features heavy keyboards, amazing vocals and another ridiculously catchy chorus. Although evoking classic sounds from decades past, it’s also reminiscent of newer AOR bands such as Mecca.Other standout tracks include tracks five, six and 10. The front half of the album is definitely stronger than the back half. Track five, “Stand in the Fire,” assaults the listener with an aural attack of furious guitar work and a slamming bass before slowing down to allow Stan’s voice to enter the picture. Another easily memorable chorus shines again with plucking guitar notes suggestive of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”. The next track, “Unstoppable” is probably the best song on the album. Musically, it starts with a spacey keyboard intro and is filled with lush harmonies, excellent lead guitar and a chorus that will live with you long after the song ends. Lyrically, it’s a very positive, uplifting song, featuring lyrics like “We are unstoppable, an indestructible force.” The lyrics could easily be applied to athletics, or Christianity, but the corresponding video showcases the song’s patriotic theme, making it a perfect accent to the upcoming Fourth of July holiday in the United States. Track 10, “If I’m Not Lovin’ You” is a wonderful ballad. It sounds familiar, but in a good way, and features a brilliant guitar solo that would make Neal Schon proud.There are several other good ballads on the record too. “Love Again,” a tale of a man finding unexpected love, features some nice piano work and another lovely guitar solo, and “The Memory of You” is nice because it has some beautiful acoustic guitar accompaniment. Other songs include, “Heat of the Battle,” which has an “Emminence Front”-like keyboard intro followed by some hard rocking guitar and Stan’s tremendous voice, and “The Journey,” which is a decent song but nothing special.The final two songs are actually remakes. The first one is “Thunder in Your Heart,” This was originally done by John Farnham for the 1986 movie RAD, which, according to IMDB is, ”The story of one young man, Cru Jones, who has the intensity and desire to win a BMX race called Helltrack.” The movie hasn’t exactly lived in the collective consciousness of ‘80s moviegoers like, say, Fast Times at Ridgemont High or even The Goonies so many people probably aren’t familiar with this song. Thanks to modern day technology like YouTube you can jump in your Delorean, kick it up to 88 miles per hour and instantly jump back in time and listen to it. If you do, you’ll realize that the new Stan Bush version is nearly identical to the original. The production is certainly better as are the vocals but not much else has changed. And that’s a shame because the song isn’t really that strong. However, Mr. Bush obviously liked it enough to cover it and it also happens to feature the other video released for this album. The video is somewhat interesting because it’s an animated video produced and directed by Randal Ng, featuring cartoons of the original, first generation Transformers.So why Transformers? Because the song that Stan Bush is probably best known for is “The Touch,” which was featured in and became famous for, Transformers: The Movie. Interestingly, the song was re-released in 2009 for Guitar Hero and then remixed in 2013 for the hit video game Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. That’s the version included here. It’s called “The Touch (Power Mix)”. A shorter 2:53 minute video advertisement of it can be found online but the full 4:03 version appears here. Overall, this is probably the most modern sounding track on the album, which can be perceived as either good or bad depending on your perspective.Overall, this is another solid Stan Bush release. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty darn good. Diehard Stan Bush fans will obviously love it but so will all lovers of classic ‘80s sounding melodic rock. So grab some nice comfortable well-worn slippers, ease back in your favorite chair, adjust your earphones and fire up this latest Stan Bush release. You’ll enjoy it. And like that old dog, you can count on it.
