Bonafide is a Swedish hard rock band, formed by singer/guitarist Pontus Snibb in Malmö in 2006.Releasing their eponymous debut album the following year and playing two shows at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2008, as well as opening for bands like Deep Purple, Quireboys and Status Quo, quickly brought them a nation-wide audience. Their most well-known song, Fill Your Head With Rock, was written for the aforementioned festival, and has since been named as one of 2011's best songs by Classic Rock Magazine.Pontus Snibb had played blues and rock for several years, touring and made records with bands such as Mescaleros, SNiBB, Buckaroos, playing with Swedish folk rock artist Mikael Wiehe and as the drummer for American country-punk band Jason & the Scorchers, when he decided to go in a classic hard rock direction with his next project.The album Bonafide was recorded in his home studio together with bass player Micke Nilsson (Brickhouse, Mats Ronander), and caught the interest of former Sweden Rock Festival and Sweden Rock Records head Michael Ivarsson. After the addition of guitarist Mikael Fässberg (from original Iron Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno's touring band) and drummer Sticky Bomb (real name Per-Åke Holmberg, from Kriminella Gitarrer, Wilmer X and Torsson), a revised version with a few new songs was released in October 2007.

Never before have the hard gigging Swedes sounded so much like rock and roll’s real deal. It’s raw, it’s honest and it’s from the heart. According to fiercely committed frontman Pontus Snibb, lead single "Smoke & Fire" says it all. "It's a good song about bad practice", said Bonafide’s main man. "Lyrically it's giving our peers a kick up the arse. It's about bands that like dressing up more than they like writing songs. It's more about how these guys look and how they act on stage. We're the complete opposite. I mean, we look OK, but for Bonafide it's all about the music and it always has been. It's about substance over style." And that's been the Bonafide mantra for almost a decade. In 2017 the band celebrates its 10th anniversary and the party won't stop: 14 gigs in 14 days across the UK will reinforce a reputation built on brilliant live shows and supreme songwriting. "We've made a lot of friends in the UK and outside of Sweden it's the place we love best and are loved best", added Snibb. "But we're likeable guys! We love beer, we love curry and we love rock. Maybe that's why the UK is a home from home for us and always has been."
