Bio:

Peo Pettersson has been active in the music recording business since his teens and involved in over 250 recordings to this date. It would be just logic then that a solo album now would offer a lot of influences and a great variety of styles, but on "Welcome To The Party" we'll once again get pure AOR/Melodic Rock - also due to the new collaboration with song-writer and guitarist Roger Ljunggren (T'Bell; Niva , Grand Illusion a.o). The history of PEO started with the album "Look what I've started" back in 1995. After being in bands like Leviticus and Axia this was Peo Pettersson's first solo effort where he teamed up with members from Masquerade , Niva and some other great musicians. This album in the meantime has become to be a sought after AOR /Melodic Rock classic release. Many years and many albums later, Peo now has hooked up with Roger Ljunggren to make an album filled with classic melodic rock inspired by the heroes of the past. Peo took care of the vocal, bass and keyboard parts on this album, all guitars were played by Roger Ljunggren and drums by Tony Morra. The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Peo Pettersson at POP Production Studios between October to December 2015.

Album:

Peo's 2013 solo album features a great mix of tunes from rockers to heartfelt melodic songs showcasing many great performances from a range of talented artists.Meanwhile, Peo was releasing albums and nobody cared...I'll be the first to admit it, because if no one talks about certain artists or bands, sometimes we don't make the effort to find out what they're up to. However, in 1995, this Swedish artist released his first album, Look What I've Started, which was later reissued by MTM and is a pure masterpiece of AOR, pop, and West Coast. After that, specialist websites never mentioned this guy again, even though he seemed to have a lot of talent and a promising future, to say the least. It must be said that, apart from this reissue by MTM, Peo didn't benefit from the support of a major record label that could have brought him out of obscurity! In the meantime, the guy has been busy releasing a slew of albums that I'm sure not many people have listened to. It was by chance, on a download site, that I came across his latest album, Fireplace, from 2013. I decided to give it a listen, remembering how much I had enjoyed Look at the time. I don't know what the other albums released between Look and Fireplace are like, but frankly, if they're all cut from the same cloth, they deserve more exposure.Indeed, this Fireplace is very, very good and very much in line with the 1995 album. The watchword is melody above all else. We still navigate between pop, AOR, and blues, but always with a constant search for melodic meaning. Peo still uses the saxophone, and for that alone he should have a statue! I still can't understand how this instrument has been banned from current productions, even in West Coast music! He also delegates the vocals to Victoria Petterson and Betty Wiseby for three tracks, which is also quite successful, especially on the superb For The Children. For the rest, we have a pleasant time with very AOR West Coast tracks reminiscent of Soleil Moon, Father To The Son, bluesy Summer's Gone, or very AOR reminiscent of Jim Jidhed solo or Thomas Vikstrom, Some Things Never Change. We even think of Bill Champlin on The Coldest Winter Days. I loved this album, which may lose a little steam over its length but, frankly, stands out among current releases. So, I'm telling you, it's time to rehabilitate this artist who should never have sunk into this kind of unjustified anonymity. Am I supposed to organize a tour with old AOR stars or cruises to relaunch all these artists??? Ah, I'm told that it's already been done and that the ship hosting this kind of cruise is called Frontiers!!!!

Line-Up:

Peo Pettersson: Vocals, Guitars, Hammond Organ, Additional Keyboards, Bass, Drums, Percussion

Album:

Released by AOR Heaven Records "Welcome To The Party", the ninth solo record of Swedish artist PEO Pettersson (ex Leviticus, Axia) is by far his best in a long time. PEO released in the Nineties one of the most celebrated Melodic Rock / AOR albums of the decade, but lately he has developed his love for classic rock."Welcome To The Party" pretty well connects classic AOR with Classic Rock influences, resulting in the best of both worlds. Surrounded by new musicians of which guitarist Roger Ljunggren (ex- T'Bell, another celebrated Swedish AOR act) plays the biggest part in terms of songwriting and production, Peo has been putting a lot of passion into the new material which can be heard right away. Inspired by a lot of the classic melodic rock heroes of the past, a song like "You've Got It Going On" for instance has that Survivor / Rocky-theme feel in terms of hooks and larger than life chorus.Right keyboards and smooth AOR harmonies make "Coming Out" another standout, Roger injecting a wonderful shred-oriented lead at first before settling into something restrained and tasteful at the break's end. "Save A Woman" comes closest to the sound of Eighties AOR but also "Eilene" and "The Promise" as well as the title track make up remarkable highlights. More classic rock melodies can be heard on "Sweet Dreams" which contains a sultry bluesy streak on both musical and vocal fronts, while true organ sounds warmly fill the semi-ballad "It's All Coming Back to Me".Much of this material would easily sit on American Rock radio during 1984-1987, but PEO brings it back to 2016 with pristine production values.Let's hope PEO continue in this vein blending classic rock with AOR as the songwriting and playing typify high caliber knowledge and idea execution, and most would be glad to savor "Welcome to the Party" again and again.

Line Up:

Peo Pettersson - vocals, bass, keyboards (Ex-Axia , Ex-Leviticus)

Album:

After recording a really fine melodic rock album as part of PAL - released early this year and featured on this blog - Swede PEO Pettersson is presenting his new solo album "Orbit Of Dreams". Apart form the lead vocals and songwriting, Peo took care of most the instruments, with guitar solos contributed by his partner in PAL Roger Ljungren, CJ Grimmark (Narnia), Janne Stark (Grand Design) and long time friend Ulf Andersson (Masquerade).Previous PEO solo album (featured on the blog) and released by AOR Heaven Records was some kind of a return to his first effort, one of the most celebrated indie Melodic Rock / AOR albums of the Nineties, but the Swede has a wide range of influences - since his teens has been involved in over 250 recordings to date - and here in "Orbit Of Dreams" we find a mix of styles.Songs like 'Back Again', 'Should Have Walked the Other Way' and especially 'Enough' and 'We're Gonna Lose It Now' pack that melodic rock bounce Peo is known for.'King of My Castle' turn things more Seventies rock oriented, then midtempo 'Give a Little Love', 'Going Home Again' or 'Something's on My Mind' are really fine bluesy classic rockers. Think David Coverdale's 'Restless Heart' album."Orbit Of Dreams" is a varied album mixing melodic rockers with bluesy classic rock numbers, all well balanced with an homogeneous production.Peo's voice has matured with age, more soulful now, and all songs here are solid, enjoyable rockers with a timeless feeling.

Line Up:

Peo Pettersson (PAL) - vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards
Roger Ljungren (PAL, Grand Illusion, NIVA) - guitar
CJ Grimmark (Narnia) - guitar
Janne Stark (Grand Design) - guitar
Ulf Andersson (Masquerade) - guitar
Gabriel Karlsson - guitar
Tony Morra - drums

Tracklist:

01. Cowboys They Don't Cry
02. Sailor
03. Give a Little Love
04. Going Home Again
05. King of My Castle
06. Lonesome Mother
07. Back Again
08. We're Gonna Lose It Now
09. Should Have Walked the Other Way
10. Something's on My Mind
11. Enough
12. Better Take You Home
13. It's Over Now
