Bio:
We are Rock n´ Roll. When you think of Bavaria, you think of Lederhosen and folk music. Even the members, the rock band TWISTED ROSE from near Wuerzburg, wear „Lederhosen“ - but black, tight, smooth leather jeans with a rock attitude. The music of the quartet is also „folk music“, but for the people of rock fans all over the world. Already since 2018 they have been realizing their own version of hard music. We bring back the stadium-rock.
Album:
Hard rock from Lower Franconia, is there such a thing? Yes, of course, with the band Twisted Rose from near Würzburg. The guys are no strangers to the local scene. They got together to indulge their love of hard music. The result is their EP "Now".A (too) long clichéd intro introduces this album. An electronically burgeoning march that lasts until the first riffs sound; by then more than two minutes have passed. Here I have a different opinion whether this has to be. But the musicians must have thought of something. Fortunately, it starts rocking right away. Straight sound and driving rhythm are the right way to go.As the saying goes: "Be wild, be cheeky, be free". This could be the motto of "Sandstorm". A good catchy song, where my hard rock heart has nothing to complain about. The guitarist has also done his homework and his tapping is at its best.Speaking of the guitarist: there are some curious things to tell about him. Chris Bones, this name says it all. Because he is also active in the wrestling scene. He appears with a skeleton-like mask, also on stage. Among other things, he is also the boss of an undertaker.Eerie - after such stories, the show continues with "Metal Souls". Gloomy mood in minor key, thus they reach into the deep metal scene. A very well thought-out arrangement with a view to the German scene of the time around Helloween and Accept. With hard breaks, Twisted Rose add their own touch. Mace's voice is also completely convincing here and stands out on "Now". This number was chosen as the first single, including a video.Speaking of Mace: He has gained a lot of experience and was the singer with the hard rockers from Oversense, who recorded the really good "The Storyteller" in 2017 and were engaged as a support act for Doro on her tour at that time. This professionalism is unmistakable."Scorpions Stings" and "Stampede Howling" are proper rockers that catch the ear. A typical, obligatory ballad must not be missing, of course. As Far As You", the second single, takes care of that. Acoustic chords set the theme, the mood is romantic and a very relaxed voice rises. The guitar enters in the background towards the end. Mace sprays his scent here. The voice just fits the hair metal scene perfectly. The rhythm section with Chris on drums and Nico on bass do their job really well.Only "We Heard The Crowd" and the title song don't work for me. It's kind of lame, there's just no kick behind it.Their love for the hair metal of White Lion, Poison and the like is unmistakable. Guns N'Roses and AC/DC are mentioned as references on the package insert, but I can't hear them for the life of me. The band simply lacks the rawness and wildness in their songs."Now" is a good hard rock record, nothing special, but listenable. I also think that Twisted Rose are on the right track, and if they can improve on their first longplayer, they could become the next newcomer for the metalheads.
