Bio:

Jørn Lande (born May 31, 1968), is a Norwegian hard rock and heavy metal singer. He is known for being the former vocalist of bands Ark, Beyond Twilight, Millenium, Vagabond, The Snakes, and most notably of power metal band Masterplan, as well as for his solo career as Jorn. The first band with whom he achieved a minor success was Vagabond, which also featured Ronni Le Tekrø, Morty Black and other former members of the Norwegian hard rock band TNT. The self titled album, released in 1994, sold 10,000 copies in Norway, but the copies were dropped by label EMI. At this time, Jørn did the lead vocals for the Norwegian national football team's song for the 1994 World Cup, "Alt for Norge" (All for Norway). The second Vagabond album, A Huge fan of Life, was released in Europe on the band's own record label. The end of Vagabond came with the reformation of TNT in 1996, and subsequently the band members went their separate ways, with Jørn joining a band formed in by Whitesnake former guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody called The Snakes. After a tour with The Snakes playing mostly Whitesnake covers and the recording of an album released only in Japan called Once Bitten, Jørn was fired from the band and joined other projects, including the Symphonic Metal band Mundanus Imperium, which resulted on the album The Spectral Spheres Coronation.Later on, Jørn got together with guitarist Tore Østby (ex-Conception) and drummer John Macaluso to form the progressive metal band Ark and record their first self titled album in 1999. Right after in 2000, he also made part of the American hard rock band Millenium, led by guitarist Ralph Santolla, and recorded the vocals for their album Hourglass. The same year, John Macaluso from Ark, who was also playing with Yngwie Malmsteen's band, made contact with the guitarist to include Jørn on a mini tour in Europe, as they needed a vocalist for the band. The collaboration between Lande and Malmsteen didn't endure and Jørn left the band in the middle of the tour. Also in the same year, Jørn recorded his first solo album called Starfire, which featured mostly cover songs and several band members from his past and current bands as the musicians of the album. The second Ark album Burn The Sun was released in 2001 and is one of the most acclaimed works featuring Jørn. Also in 2001, he teamed up with keyboardist Finn Zierler and formed the project Beyond Twilight which led to the album The Devil's Hall of Fame, another acclaimed work by the public and media. Still in the same year, Jørn released his second solo album Worldchanger. In 2002, Jørn finally joined the global metal scene fronting the melodic power metal band Masterplan, formed in with Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch after both were fired from Helloween. Jørn released two successful albums with Masterplan, playing at big festivals and tours around the world from 2003 to 2006 until he left the band on May 11, 2006, because of creative differences. Jørn wanted to take the band towards a more melodic style, while the other members were leaning towards a heavier sound. From this time on, Jørn concentrated more on his solo band and released such albums as Out to Every Nation (2004) and The Duke (2006).In 2005, Jørn teamed up with Symphony X vocalist Russell Allen in a singer-duet collaboration on the album The Battle, and their following album, The Revenge, released May 11, 2007. The project is commonly called Allen-Lande and was put together by the president of Frontiers Records, with songwriting duties and most of the instrumentation done by Swedish guitarist Magnus Karlsson.Jorn's first live album, Live in America, was released September 21, 2007, containing two discs with tracks taken from his performance on September 16, 2006, at the rock festival ProgPower VII in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2008, Jørn Lande lent his voice to the rock opera bands Ayreon on the album 01011001 and Avantasia on the album The Scarecrow, both released in January 2008. He was also one of the main guests in the first Avantasia's world tour. Later, he was featured on over 10 songs on Avantasia's two subsequent albums, The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon and once again took part in the world tour in December 2010.Jørn released two more full-length albums with his own band, Lonely Are The Brave in 2008, which was the fastest selling album of his career, and Spirit Black, right one year after. On July 25, 2009, Masterplan announced that Jørn was back in the band.Masterplan's 3rd album with Jørn Lande is titled Time to Be King and was released on May 21, 2010.In late May, a Jorn music video honoring legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio, who had died of stomach cancer just five days before, was posted on YouTube. Soon after it was announced that Jørn would release a Dio tribute album in July.Later on, it was announced that Jørn was included in the line up of Heaven & Hell, when the remaining members played the one off tribute to Ronnie James Dio at the 2010 High Voltage festival. He was one of the vocalists together with Glenn Hughes. The third Allen/Lande album titled The Showdown has been announced for release in September 2010.To promote the album, Frontiers Records released a videoclip of the song Judgement Day featuring Jørn singing, via YouTube. In 2011, Jorn released his second live album with footage from the concert of the 2010 Sweden Rock Festival, the album was called Live in Black. Also in 2011, he was a guest on female singer Amanda Somerville's first metal project Trillium singing on the vocal duet track 'Scream It'.A new Jorn album called Bring Heavy Rock To The Land was released on June 1, 2012 in Europe and June 5, 2012 in North America via Frontiers Records. It has a single for the title track released in May 14, 2012.In November 2012, the record company AFM Records announced the production of a new Masterplan album with a new line-up, including Rick Altzi (At Vance) replacing Jørn Lande as vocalist.Jorn's first release for 2013 is called Symphonic, a compilation of previous recordings with classical music arrangement. On April 15 of 2013, it was also announced a new Jorn full-length album called Traveller, which was released in June 11 in North America and June 14 in Europe.Jørn Lande also announced in an interview that a new Allen/Lande album was in the works but this time with songwriting and production made by former Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki, replacing Magnus Karlsson. On 24 July 2013, Timo Tolkki also confirmed the role in the project via his Facebook page. The album was released on October 17 in Europe and October 21, 2014 in North America. This time, Lande has also contributed with some vocal melodies and lyrics to the album. In 2014, Lande provided lead vocals for songs Lightbringer and Thornmail for the fictional League of Legends band, Pentakill (named after the rare occurrence of one player defeating all five of the enemy team in quick succession) taking the role of Karthus, a lich that serves as one of the playable characters in the game. The first single, Lightbringer, was released on May 27, and the full album, Smite and Ignite, was released on June 3, 2014.In the same year, it was announced a project created by Lande together with his band's new guitarist Trond Holter (former Wig Wam), an album rock opera based telling the story of Bram Stoker's Dracula. It was released on January 23 in Europe and January 27th 2015 in North America and it's called Swing Of Death. They performed the whole album live on May 1, 2015 at the Karmoygeddon Festival in Norway. In 2015, Jorn performed live with the fictional League of Legends band Pentakill in São Paulo, Brazil during the CBLOL (League of Legends Brazilian Championship) grand final. Bio:

JORN LANDE & TROND HOLTER PRESENT DRACULA is a project consisting of Norwegian Rock Stars - singer Jørn Lande and guitarist Trond Holter (aka Teeny of WIG WAM) and they created a new Rock Opera concept album about the life of Count Vlad the III, Prince of Wallachia, widely known as Vlad, The Impaler or by his patronymic name Vlad Dracul(a). Album “Swing of Death” will be released on January 23rd 2015 in Europe and January 27th in North America.“Walking on Water” is a powerful track with nice and strong performances, heavier melodic guitars, atmospheric keys, clear drums, and lovely guitar work! I love so much the instrumental track “True Love Through Blood” with lower & massive guitars. Amazing guitar work in style of Michael Schenker. I love these amazing melodic sounds! Wonderful instrumentalist – perfectly clear rhythmic section and terrific guitar solos! Gentle opener with Jorn’s vocal in “Queen of the Dead” building a nice climate of higher registers style with heavier riffs. Memorable chorus and perfect guitars sounds very catchy! Amazing guitar work is a pure thrill; excellent connection from slower to faster sounds. Title track “Swing of Death” has melodic refrain with choir singing and swing elements and even folkish echoes!I also love “River of Tears” with lower and melodic riffs! Fantastic melodic choir chorus singing in duet by Jørn and Lena Fløitmoen Børresen. This track is so lovely and memorable in JORN climate. Another time we can listen perfect guitar solo inside this song. Next song where it is possible to listen to this fantastic duet singing is “Under the Gun” with massive guitars in DIO style, amazing keys and incredible atmosphere. Lena is singing together with Jørn also in the melodic “Into the Dark” with heavier guitars in ALICE COOPER style and fine keyboards and in “Save Me” where great stronger riffs connecting with a strong and melodic female voice; together with Jørn it sounds awesome! I love these catchy choruses! Calmer piano with stronger vocals of Jørn sounds totally amazing in “Masquerade Ball” and then this track is building into massive crescendo with big doses of melody.JORN LANDE & TROND HOLTER PRESENT DRACULA is a perfect project of 2 amazing Rock stars - singer Jørn Lande and guitarist Trond Holter. They recorded album on a high-class level where every fan will find something for the soul and ears - Hard Rock, Heavy Metal with big doses of melody. For me every track is a masterpiece and many catchy melodies, power and experience of musicians give listeners a perfectly mix. This album is exceptional and highly recommended to very Rock lover and Metalhead!

Album:

Norwegian Rock Stars, singer Jorn Lande and guitarist Trond Holter (aka Teeny of WIG WAM), have created a new Rock Opera concept album about the life of Count Vlad the III, Prince of Wallachia, widely known as Vlad, The Impaler or by his patronymic name Vlad Dracul(a). The whole story explores the inner struggle inside the multifaceted and engorging character that this mysterious 15th Century personality was, while also taking into account some of the metaphysical aspects that passed into literature, forming the whole basis of the vampire mythos. On the album Jorn Lande– who impersonates the main character Dracula - shares lead vocal duties with Norwegian singer Lena Fløitmoen (representing Mina/Lucy from the Bram Stoker book). The duets feature Dracula and his women, which in the original Bram Stoker story is centered around Dracula’s first true love Mina (when he was a human before he sold his soul to the devil and became a vampire). The drama of the story reveals Dracula’s inner battle, where he still remembers what true love was, and as he wandered the Earth for centuries with a thirst for blood, his loneliness and desire to be able to love again has led him to the brink of insanity. In the original Bram Stoker version, he leaves Transylvania by ship and when he meets Lucy's best friend, she reminds him so much of his first love Mina, that he becomes obsessed. Dracula sees her as some kind of "holy grail", too good to turn into a vampire.Musically, “Swing of Death” is not like a typical rock opera or musical, since it has no storyteller or long instrumental parts or intros. It is an album that gets to the point with no detours and even if it exposes some diverse musical landscapes, it does include catchy and melodic songs with commercial radio potential. Musical influences come mostly from Meat Loaf and Queen with the ghost of Alice Cooper thrown in plus some Classic and more contemporary Hard Rock elements. The lyrics are not limited to the old days of Bram Stoker’s era and could easily be a Dracula story of today.Plans are being made to stage this entire Rock Opera on Norwegian theaters in 2015. More details will be revealed at a later stage.

He was singing in a duet with the character Karthus (portrayed by Brazilian singer, former Hangar, Nando Fernandes). The same year, it was announced Jorn's return to the Avantasia crew, recording vocals for the album Ghostlights and taking part in the 2016 world tour.Jorn was also announced as one of the guests of former Allen/Lande instrumentalist/producer Magnus Karlsson's new album Kingdom of Rock, from his project Free Fall. Jorn sings the first and self-titled track.

Album:

Frontiers Music Srl will release JORN's new album, "Heavy Rock Radio", on June 3.One of the greatest rock singers of our time, Jorn Lande returns with a unique album of covers of classics from artists and bands that have meant something special to him, and helped forge this talented man's own unique style.Through Jorn's extensive career, which includes more than 40 albums of mostly original songs, he has also recorded great versions of several rock classics such as THIN LIZZY's "Are You Ready", UFO's "On And On", DEEP PURPLE's "Perfect Strangers", and many more. Jorn also recorded a successful Ronnie James Dio tribute album, released in 2010. Every song JORN covers is treated with the utmost respect and "Jorn-ized" accordingly. A good example is his heavy sounding version of "I Walk Alone", first released by Tarja Turunen (ex-NIGHTWISH)."Heavy Rock Radio" is not an ordinary album of cover songs; it is truly a songbook of hits. Featured — among others — are great versions of the EAGLES' "Hotel California" and Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill", which gets the Jorn style treatment to become very powerful and epic, without losing its commercial touch. More great classics included are John Farnham's "You're The Voice", QUEEN's "Killer Queen", and two absolute melodic rock evergreen gems in JOURNEY's "Don't Stop Believin'" and FOREIGNER's "Rev On The Red Line".The original concept of the album was to create a sort of jukebox of radio hits, but to avoid leaning too much on the pop side of rock, JORN decided to blend the track listing with a few more up tempo rock tracks as well, such as "The Final Frontier" by IRON MAIDEN ("probably the closest you get to anything commercial with IRON MAIDEN," says Jorn), "Live To Win" by Paul Stanley (a song which was also featured on the popular television series "South Park"), and a few hard rock classics show up as well from DEEP PURPLE ("Stormbringer"), DIO ("Rainbow In The Dark") and BLACK SABBATH ("Die Young") to complete the mix.Jorn says: "The most important thing was to treat these songs with respect towards the original versions. My goal was always to think that the original artist would be honored and find my version relevant. At the same time, my intention was never to try to compete with the original song and artist, but make it a strong alternative version to enjoy. At the same time, it is a well-deserved homage to these artists and bands who influenced me strongly, and I have wanted to record these songs for quite some time but was always too busy writing and recording my own songs to make it happen. Originally, I had a list of 40-50 songs I wanted to do, but I had to strip it down to about 15 songs before deciding on the final tracklist. This means that there are some unfinished business musically, and I will most likely record more of these songs in the future."Since releasing the critically acclaimed Dracula "Swing Of Death" album last year, Jorn has also been working on an album of brand new songs, which will be the follow-up to the 2013 JORN album "Traveller", to be released in early 2017.Jorn's catalogue is getting too long to include in brief press statements, and his innovative and creative skills have led to him selling millions of albums worldwide and being a frequent entry on sales charts around the world, including Billboard. Worth a mention is his years with MASTERPLAN, with whom he recorded three albums. Claimed to be the biggest selling Norwegian musical export, since the pop band A-HA, Jorn continues his rock crusade, and there are no signs of him slowing down yet.The title "Heavy Rock Radio" came quite naturally, as the sound of this album feels like if it's tailor made for any rock radio station, and while Jorn's voice can be enjoyed on more than 40 albums in different rock and metal styles, this record is a special treat which will tide over all the fans waiting for the new original album which is being worked on at the moment.

Album:

Frontiers Music Srl is delighted to announce the release of Jorn's brand-new studio album, entitled “Life On Death Road” on June 2, 2017. Easily one of the greatest rock singers of the 21st century, Norway's very own giant Viking warrior Jorn Lande’s vocals are resoundingly strong once again on his ninth original studio album, “Life On Death Road”! This absolutely brilliant new album sees Lande attacking the microphone with rejuvenated vigor, accompanied by a new band and a bigger and stronger sound.“Life On Death Road” took several months of hard work for the songwriting vision to come together. Jorn needed to take the music to a new level to push the concept of the band further than it has ever gone before. The result is a record that is deep, strong, full of groove and powerful with anthemic songs aplenty! Songs like "Man Of The 80s", "Love Is The Remedy", "Life On Death Road", "Insoluble Maze (Dreams In The Blindness)" and "The Slippery Slope (Hangman's Rope)" capture the essence of Jorn as a singer, songwriter and lyricist.Jorn says: "It's easily one of the best albums I've ever recorded. This was all about putting the right people together for the right result and about taking the necessary time to work more thoroughly and in depth with the material we chose for the album. The older I get, the more I feel it is necessary to listen to my heart and look for that genuine and honest feeling that made me take interest in music in the first place. Back in the 70s and early 80s when I grew up, people and music were more free and so the presence of feeling and soul came more naturally and was expected from an artist or a band. This is the energy and craftmanship we've been looking for, but still keeping a pulse on the modern times we live in. 'Life On Death Road' is an original album that is pretty much summing up the last 40-50 years of rock and metal and has become a hybrid modern heavy rock album without losing those tasty elements of a good aged wine. Regardless, we're all products of our time and the feeling, soul and symbioses we've achieved for this album is a rarity in today's music world, so in that sense this album is a true old school sailors' tall ship adventure. From start to finish it took us nearly three years to finalize and I'm really proud to say that this album is the proof that classic albums can still be made."The album also marks the debut of a new line-up of very experienced and gifted musicians around the Norwegian singer. On bass is Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) who needs virtually no introduction to European heavy metal fanatics. On keyboards and production is Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints), who already joined Jorn for the recording of his last covers album “Heavy Rock Radio” and was the glue that helped Jorn to create the feel and the direction for the new album. Francesco Jovino (Primal Fear) is on drums and Alex Beyrodt (Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle) handles guitar. Truly a recipe for a roaring success! Jorn had no desire to do just another record. The aim was to do the best record possible and it took almost two years of writing, arranging and producing before wrapping this all up. The performances are thunderous across the board and you can hear the urgency of these songs in Jorn's singing!Jorn's catalogue is getting too long to include in brief overviews and his innovative and creative skills as a vocalist and music visionary have led to him selling millions of albums worldwide while being a frequent entrant on sales charts around the world including Billboard. Worth a mention here though are his years fronting Masterplan, whom he recorded three albums with. He has also recently collaborated with the world's biggest online gaming company, Riot Games, providing vocals for the virtual band Pentakill in the game "League Of Legends". Claimed to be the biggest selling Norwegian musical export since the pop band A-Ha, Jorn continues his rock crusade and there are no signs of him slowing down and “Life on Death Road” is a magnificent testament to his abilities!

Also in the same year, Jørn recorded his first solo album called Starfire, which featured mostly cover songs and several band members from his past and current bands as the musicians of the album. The second Ark album Burn The Sun was released in 2001 and is one of the most acclaimed works featuring Jørn. Album:

2018 was a significant year for Jorn Lande. He celebrated his 50th birthday with the release of a comprehensive 12 album box set and played a few selected shows in the spring and summer which presented the most diverse and exciting setlists ever of his storied career. Picking forgotten gems from early albums, selected covers and choice cuts from collaborative releases, all in all those shows presented the true and ultimate legacy of Jorn as an artist and JORN as a band.Jorn’s headlining set at Frontiers Rock Festival in Milan, in late April 2018 was recorded in it’s full glory and will now be released on 2CD/DVD and Blu Ray formats. For fans who weren’t able to attend, you can now enjoy the epic concert performance, “Live on Death Road”! Jorn shines in every way possible in this monumental set. One of the most prolific metal vocalists of the modern metal era, Jorn’s immense vocal talent has earned him a status as one the last pioneers of true classic hard rock and heavy metal. Jorn's voice is one of the finest and most powerful you will find in metal. Besides focusing on his main band JORN, Lande has fronted various bands, among them Ark, Beyond Twilight and Masterplan. Album:

Through Jorn's extensive career, which includes more than 40 albums of mostly original songs, he recorded great versions of several rock classics from classic bands such as Thin Lizzy, UFO, Deep Purple and many more.Every song JORN covers is treated with the utmost respect and "Jorn-ized" accordingly, just like the first "Heavy Rock Radio" album showed with amazing cover versions of evergress songs such as "I know There's Something Going On", "Hotel California", "You're The Voice," "Running Up That Hill" and several others. This sophomore "Heavy Rock Radio 2" album is not an ordinary album of cover songs, it is truly a songbook of hits. Featured - among others - are great versions of Pages "I Do Believe in You," Foreigner's "Night Life", Don Henley's "New York Minute," Deep Purple's "Bad Attitude," a stunning Metal version of Peter Gabriel's "The Rhythm of the Heat" and of course the unmissable Dio cover "Mystery".More "jukebox" type of covers include "Quinn the Eskimo (The Might Quinn)" originally recorded by Manfred Mann's Earth Band and already covered by Gotthard and Bob Dylan, Bryan Adams' "Lonely Night" (also covered by Uriah Heep), The Searcher's "Needles And Pins" (which was brought to success by Smokie and also covered by Cher, Ramones and Tom Petty among others) and a very personal choice from the man himself, a Russ Ballard song “Winning” which was also recorded by Santana in 1980.Most of what's found here are all songs we know and love, what differentiates this from a thousand other covers songs/albums is Jorn's amazing voice. Jorn tackles every song with a passion and adds just enough metal to satisfy all the hard rock/metal fans out there.Stand out tracks for me, you have to start with Dio's "Mystery" one of the few vocalists out today that can do the legendary Ronnie James Dio justice. Back in 2010, Jorn released a tribute album of all Dio songs simple called "Dio" to stellar reviews. If you get a chance it's definitely worth a listen."Lonely Nights" the Bryan Adams classic, gets a new revved-up rendition that stays pretty faithful to the original, another instance where Jorn's voice fits the song perfect. Showing he's not just a one-trick pony, that he can easily tackle any genre."Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn)" easily one of my all-time favorite songs. Originally recorded by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. With several other artists covering this one over the years it's hard to put a new spin on it. But Jorn does a great job with this one as well. On a side note, late 70's Quiet Riot with Randy Rhoads did a great cover of this one back in the day.Don Henley's "New York Minute" is a song that doesn't get the cover treatment very often, and hearing a fresh take on it reminds you what a great songwriter Don Henley and all the guys from The Eagles are for that matter. If your fan of 80's music in general, you're sure to find something to love here.

Jorn sings the first and self-titled track.
