Bio:
Adam Bomb (born Adam Brenner, 14 August 1963) is an American guitarist who worked with artists like TKO, Black 'N Blue, Steel Pulse, John Paul Jones, and Michael Monroe. His stage name is a play on the name Atom Bomb.In 1979, Adam Bomb and future Queensrÿche frontman Geoff Tate started a cover band called Tyrant. Later, Bomb joined the band TKO, with who he recorded the album In Your Face. In 1982, Bomb flew to LA and unsuccessfully auditioned for Kiss. He then moved to Hollywood and shared an apartment with Jeffrey Isbell (better known as Izzy Stradlin). He met neighbor, Tommy Thayer, a guitarist for the band Movie Star (which later evolved into Black N' Blue), who came up with the original idea that he should call his act 'Adam Bomb'. Movie Star opened for TKO at The Showbox in 1983. Adam recorded his first demos with producer Rick Keefer while playing gigs with Steeler as a replacement. One year later, Bomb recorded songs with drummer Chuck Ruff and bassist Cliff Williams of AC/DC, and finally finished his album Fatal Attraction.Bomb signed a management deal with Leber Krebs, and moved to NYC to start the Adam Bomb Band with former Billy Idol drummer Gregg Gerson, Billy Idol/Riot bassist Phil Feit, and Aerosmith guitarist Jimmy Crespo. They recorded Fatal Attraction in 1985.The band later moved again to Los Angeles, and for a time, opened for bands Armored Saint and Metallica. The follow-up contained mainly left over material from their debut release, and so Pure S.E.X. (1989) had indifferent reviews. In 2011, Adam Bomb bassist Paul Del Bello and drummer Violet Cannibal had started recording on a CDs Rock On, Rock Hard, Rock Animal. The album had cover songs as well as original material. Bomb recorded "Affection" (written by Little Steven), continued touring, and lived around Europe occasionally. In July 2016, he recorded a single with drummer Bobby Reynolds, keyboardist Alan St Jon, saxophonist Arno Hecht, and Phil Feit.
Album:
Second full-length album.ADAM BOMB or the Bi-polar Glam Rocker who, like Conan the Barbarian (only with more make-up) is capable of ‘fits of melancholy just as excessive as his joys’, is an endearing New York artist. This is his 2nd album, recorded in 1987 and released in 1990! It has to be said that the man drags his pink guitar through a sea of misfortune, that his career in his homeland never took off despite all his attempts, but that he's still here today! making him a true knight devoted entirely to his Lord Rock N' Roll.Pure S.E.X begins with the song of the same name, an outrageously pop but totally assumed title, a sort of funny and colourful 45 from a TV series for teenagers drinking Soda, but with a porn version. The ‘Synthé Bontempi’ sound of the thing must have put off more than one potential ‘Hardos’ listener... But Adam doesn't care. If you can appreciate the CARS (Heartbeat City period), this Pure SEX isn't very hard, it's true, but it's so soft to the ear. It is, however, the only track on the album with this extravagant sound, a little appetiser for this Pure SEX sweet as a dye candy that stains the tongue to the extent of the ‘über Gläm’ sleeve that leaves no doubt as to the record's identity.I'm not going to go track by track here, but I'll just divide the album into two parts, so much so that the emotional journey offered by Ami Bomb is strongly associated with the ‘Russian Mountains’ of an amusement park. ‘High or Low’ is one of the tracks on the album, and a joyous one at that, with its schoolyard “Na na na” and Top Fun guitar solo. Because yes, as well as being a great singer with the voice of an eternal teenager, Adam is an excellent guitarist, capable of throwing you a choice of 100% banana split glam riff with whipped cream, a heavy riff that makes you want to Headbanger, or a deep chord that will bring tears to your eyes. Also in the Fun & Glam section are the evocatively titled ‘Youth Will Lead The Way’, with its luminous, head nodding melody and Strawberry Juke Box & Milk Shake ambience, the dynamic, hit song ‘Fallen Angel’, sprinkled with a cloud of airy keyboards, the more snarling (but still Glam à Donf') “Dangerous When Lit”, the rebellious, fresh “Know Your Rights” and the faster-tempo “What in the World” that closes the album. In the melancholy department, because it's in this area that Bomb's talent is best expressed in my opinion, as much through lyrics that go straight to the heart as through poignant melodies, the beautiful ‘You Take Me Away’, which makes you think of a rainy day in a big, grey, concrete city where love is the only ray of sunshine, which unfortunately is just passing by... ‘You'll Never Know’ and its saxophone solo bursting with urban, nocturnal blues, telling the story of a pure adolescent love. You'll Never Know’, with its saxophone solo bursting with urban, nocturnal blues, tells the story of a pure, adolescent love - he never forgot it, but she never knew.... and the tragic FM “Lost in Time”, with its omnipresent keyboards.Adam Bomb is first and foremost a voice, beautiful, vibrant, full of life and forever youthful, a talented guitarist who's probably the most underrated in the business (you have to see him play ‘Eruption’ live just for the fun of it) and a passionate songwriter with the heart of a schoolboy in love in one hand and his sex raised to the sky in the other. Adam Bomb, that's life!
