Bio:

Foolish Pleasure is a precious and memorable melodic hard rock band from California, active between 1989 and 1994.They had two studio albums in 1993 and 1994 and a demo cassette in 1989. Both albums are rare, released by RIP Records. This label only released two albums for Foolish Pleasure. Not all the songs are my cup of tea, because some of their songs sound strange which I do not like very much, but they really have many amazing songs from both albums. The second album "Look Up" by Foolish Pleasure is rarer, which is not included on heavyharmonies. I can find only one song from the second album that is uploaded on youtube. It is this melodic rock song "She's Walking Away". This is the only song in this album that I want to recommend. By comparison, their songs in the debut are much better.Anyway, "She's Walking Away" is really a brilliant song, which stands out among all the songs by Foolish Pleasure. Let's enjoy it. The voice of Rick Irwin is distinctive.

Rick Irwin - vocals - started his musical career at 15 by playing rhythm guitar and singing backing vocals with "Danny & the Drop Ins." Thirteen years of college were pursued to hone in his gifts in music, dance, creative writing, and theatre. His influences include everything and everyone involved in the music business. Irwin has had some international success with songs from his former melodic rock group "Foolish Pleasure." Rick also has music in movies and t.v.

Album:

The second rare and final album from melodic band Foolish Pleasure, reissued through the label RIP Record.Raw 90s melodic glam hard rock that slaps. This CD play nice - heavy riffs, big choruses, zero chill. Tracks like "Living Large In America" scream attitude. You want glam? It's there. Hard rock? Check. Arena vibes? Hell yeah. Dude on Discogs said they needed a better singer - joke's on him, this sht's perfect.Foolish Pleasure - Look Up? Saw the cover-kinda cheesy, kinda cool. Thought, "What the hell." Hit play. Didn't expect much. Got punched in the face with guitar riffs and big dumb drums that actually work. t's 1994. Hair's gone, grunge is king, but these dudes from RIP Record are out here like, nah, we still love spandex and shouting into mics. Look Up ain't subtle. It's loud, proud, and dripping with that late-80s hard rock sweat. But weirdly... it works? Like, it shouldn't.But it does. Opening track "Living Large In America" - total anthem. Cheesy lyrics? Sure. "We're young, we're loud, we're breaking every rule!" - yeah, whatever. But man, that chorus? Stuck in my head for three days. Couldn't shake it. Even hummed it brushing my teeth. That's power. "Look Up" the title track - slower, moody. Kinda feels like a power ballad that forgot to be sad. More like, "I'm sad but also wanna smash a beer bottle on my forehead." Classic. Guitar solo's messy but passionate. Like they mean it, you know? "Smile" - weird one. Starts soft, then explodes. Almost feels like a parody of themselves. But I like that. Feels honest. Like they're laughing at the whole thing while still giving it 110%. "Middle Ground" - solid. Not amazing. Just... good rock. Guitar tone's fat, drums hit hard. Nothing new, but it's tight. Larry, Craig, Tim - whoever they are - these guys can play. "Excited" - yeah, buddy. Finally, a song that lives up to its name. Fast, dumb, fun. "Young Girls" - ugh, title's cringe. But the song? Catchy as hell. Not proud, but I tapped my foot. Maybe more than tapped. "Quitters Never Win" - best title ever. Also, best riff? Maybe. Feels like a gym anthem. Or a fight song for guys who still own leather jackets but wear them to BBQs. "Got To Have You" - another ballad. Slows things down. Too much? Maybe. Third ballad in a row? Felt like a slump. "Blue Eyes" - okay, fine, I'll admit it... I almost liked it. Almost. "She's Walking Away" - back to energy. This one's got grit. Less glam, more rock. I heard a bit of Aerosmith, a dash of early Poison, but without the polish. Which is good. Feels raw. Real. "Can We All Get Wrong" - weird title. Weirder song. Almost funky? Nah. Just confused. But I respect the try. "Comes A Time" - mid-tempo, decent. Feels like filler. "Tell The Truth" closes it - big, bold, shout-along finish. Not memorable, but solid send-off. What I didn't like? The ballads drag. Too many. And the lyrics... dude. "Living large in the fast lane, heart on fire, no pain"? Come on. But you don't listen to Foolish Pleasure for poetry. You listen for volume, for energy, for that dumb joy. Also, the singer's not amazing. Kinda thin. But he tries. And the band? Tight, like that one comment said. They want it. This album's a time capsule. Feels like it missed its moment. Should've dropped in '87. But maybe that's why it's cool now. It's untouched by irony. No one's pretending. It's just... rock. Loud, dumb, proud rock. Funny thing? I played it for my kid. He's 14. Hates everything I like. But he asked, "Who's that?" When "Excited" came on.Then nodded. Then air-guitared. Maybe rock's not dead. Maybe it's just hiding in 1994, on a CD with a barcode and zero hype.
