Wishing Well, from Finland, will release their third album entitled “DO OR DIE” on March 13 on Inverse Records.The album was engineered and mixed again by Henrik Sirelä at Loiste Production Studios in Helsinki, during 2019.With “DO OR DIE” Wishing Well stick to their trademark style, made by mixing many different hard rock and metal styles and welding them all together by vocalist Rafael Castillo’s dark and raspy voice and Arto Teppo’s roaring, distorted Hammond organ. This time Wishing Well is more metal than hard rock, though once again they manage to surprise the listener with something new like the ethereal “Cosmic Ocean”, which features classical guitar and flute.The band features the same line-up as on their previous “Rat Race” album. That is Chilean vocalist Rafael Castillo, organist Arto Teppo, bassist Rick Becker, drummer Juha Kivikanto and guitar player Anssi Korkiakoski.“During 2018-2019 Wishing Well toured with Doogie White, TANK and Alcatrazz plus played festivals and clubs around Finland. The band will play record release gig in Helsinki at On The Rocks Club on 20 March.The title track starts with a great seventies keyboards attack, a solid heavy rock tune with a great structure.An effective riffing to open MADE OF METAL, that anyway reminds us the influence of DEEP PURPLE, with vocals to remark.WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER is another example of great squared hard rock, enhanced by a grandiloquent keyboards.More lilting next SERMON OF THE MOUNT while LOST IN THE NIGHT provides right musicality with solo parts again to remark.If HOMELESS SOUL reminds us somethin’ from best URIAH HEEP, LIVE AND LEARN is the more melodic episode which grows second after second.TO BE OR NOT TO sees again keyboards starring, while THE GATES OF HELL is surely one of our favs.The last one is fancy COSMIC OCEAN that ends in the best way this great platter.NO DOUBT..ONE OF BEST THINGS LISTENED IN THIS FIRST SLICE OF 2020!!
