Winger is an American hard rock band formed in New York City that gained popularity during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band's two platinum albums, Winger and In the Heart of the Young, along with charting singles "Seventeen", "Headed for a Heartbreak" and "Miles Away", put the band on the top of the charts by the early 1990s. In 1990, the band was nominated for an American Music Award for "Best New Heavy Metal Band".As the music scene changed in the early to mid-1990s due to the popularity of grunge, the band faded after their third release Pull.The band broke up in 1994, but reunited in 2001 for several successful tours. In 2006, the band's 1993 touring line-up (minus Paul Taylor but including John Roth) reunited to record the band's first studio album in over 13 years, IV, and toured in support of the album into 2008. In 2009, the band released their fifth album, Karma. As of 2013, Winger still performs on mini-tours and private events.

Contains all the original demos from the bands first three albums, including ten unreleased tracks.“Demo Anthology“, as the title suggests, is a collection of demos by acclaimed US melodic hard rock group WINGER, a 2-CD set featuring a total of 37 songs recorded during the late ’80s and in between their three classic albums: “Winger”, “In The Heart Of The Young” and “Pull”.As requested, this is the Japanese Edition including an exclusive bonus track, an out of print release. So we have here 38 tracks, 10 of them previously unreleased / not part of the album releases.Calling these recordings ‘demos’ is diminishing its quality: these are in fact pre-production demos and in the know of Kip Winger being a perfectionist, sound quality is very good.While for the casual listener some songs later released may sound very similar to the albums versions, they are not. Many of these tracks contain different arrangements, clock in at different times, and are in different keys than the final versions.And we have the 11 unreleased songs, all good and deserving to have been chosen for the final track lists.Indeed, “Demo Anthology” is a stupendous collection from Winger 1988-1994. They only disappointing thing with this release is the lack of liner notes – all that’s here is the cover, a 2-page picture inside the booklet, and one page essay / message from Kip Winger. Fans expected dates / sessions when these tracks were taped.But the essential is here: great music. The hits and the album ‘inside tracks’ in their initial versions, plus the never heard before songs.
