Talk Of The Town was a Swedish hard rock band formed in 1988.In 1987, the hard rock band Scandinavian Dynamite was formed. When singer Thomas Vikström (Brazen Abbot, Stormwind, Candlemass, Therion) joined in 1988, the band changed its name to Talk Of The Town. Among other things, they collaborated with Glory when they recorded their self-titled album that same year and had a hit with the single Free Like An Eagle. The musical direction of the band and the album can be described as typical melodic AOR/hard rock of the time with plenty of keyboard loops. Both the album and the single went gold in Sweden. In addition to Thomas Vikström, the band consisted of guitarist Antonio Salvena, bassist Jonas Olson (Mikael Rickfors), keyboardist Mats Jacobsson, and drummer Staffan Scharin (Alien).In 1990, the band split up, but Vikström and Salvena recruited Johan Kullberg (Lion's Share, Therion) on drums, Joachim Uddling (Suzzie's Orchestra) on keyboards, and bassist Staffan Linder, and in 1991 they released the album Reach For The Sky with this lineup.In 1992, Vikström left the band to record an album with Swedish doom rockers Candlemass and also released a solo album the same year. He was replaced by Conny Lind (State Of Mind), but the band disbanded just a few years later.In 2000, the band released their third album, The Ways Of The World. This time, guitarist and producer Tommy Denander was the driving force behind the project.

Swedes TALK OF THE TOWN self-titled 1988’s album in its remastered reissue including 8 bonus tracks.“Talk Of The Town” is classic ’80s Scandinavian Melodic Rock from every corner – from catchy songwriting and first class performances to the pristine production – musically in the same league of Da Vinci, Bad Habit, Glory, Fate, etc. All songs are simply irresistible.‘Scandinavian Dynamite’… that’s their original name, and makes justice to the music. Fronted by talented Thomas Vikström (later Therion and countless albums as backing vocalist), TALK OF THE TOWN were just marvelous. “Free Like An Eagle”, “Fever”, “You’ve Got Your Dreams”, “Wildcat” are top notch uptempo AOR tracks. “Feel My Heartbeat” is a superb funk-AOR song, ”Undercover Love’ midtempo magic, while “In The Night” is a breathtaking power ballad. “The Power Inside” sounds like a hi-tech AOR Jojo song but is still great.The band recorded pre-production demos for a second album that never was, years later finally released by AOR Heaven Records. This remastered reissue add as bonus some of these pre-production demos, a couple of Vikström solo songs (very good) and 2 previously unreleased tracks.
