Melodic hard rock / AOR band from Sweden.Swedish melodic hard rock band STRIKER independently released their debut 4-track EP in 2008, a melodic hard-pop album, featuring a number of tracks from the band's debut EP.STRIKER is the latest sensation and the 4 songs included on this EP are really awesome. Opener “Struck by lightning” is a fantastic uptempo melodic rocker with a chorus that will never go out of your head after you heard it the first time. Followed closely by the midtempo AOR Ballad “Is this love” we are in Swed Melodic Rock Heaven for sure. Besides the catchy choruses, the vocalwork is very good and instrumental these 6 guys also provide a lot to respect. Closing track is the lovely TOTOish semi AOR/Westcoast tune “Underneath the stars”.They could become the next big thing to follow HEAT, WORK OF ART, THE POODLES and STURM UND DRANG, just waiting to get signed soon by a melodic rocklabel out there!

Very rare melodic hard rock EP debut.Swedish melodic hard rock band STRIKER independently released their debut 4-track EP in 2008, a melodic hard-pop album, featuring a number of tracks from the band's debut EP.More is more and anything else would be illogical. That's why STRIKER uses all the melodies, arrangements and effects available to create the uttermost musical experience. Heavy carpets of synths and soaring guitar leads, along with blistering drums, STRIKES you like lightning from the above.I do believe Swedish act H.E.A.T. has found some competition here. Their countrymen STRIKER, hailing from Helsingborg in the southern part of Sweden, are a couple of youngsters in the age between 17 and 19 years old. We´re talking above promising here...My eyebrows were raised right a way when I heard this single EP for the first time. A short intro is followed by "Struck By Lightning", where I surely think of H.E.A.T., i.e. rich AOR in the EUROPE vein with fat keyboards and crispy guitars. Then "Is This Love" brings vibes of SURVIVOR (and I don´t just mean the song title) but even Canadians THE KITE of all things! The EP is ending with the TOTO and WORK OF ART sounding "Underneath The Stars", and leaves me wishing there were more songs here. The only thing that can - and will - improve, is the lead vocal from Filip Johannesson. He sings real good, but his young voice is naturally not fully mature yet. I can´t even think of what´s to come. And while on that subject - I just received info about another 5 songs being recorded right now (January 2009).
