SPEEDEMON was formed in mid-2011 in Portugal,Vila Franca de Xira, Lisbon...initially as a trio made up of Branco (drums), Brutus (vocals/bass) and Bicho (guitar). In October 2011, the band evolved into a quartet and established its line-up with the addition of Peter (bass). SPEEDEMON's members come from other projects, mainly Rekless Pain and the now-defunct Encancrate. Musically, SPEEDEMON is influenced by various strands of the heavy metal scene, from NWOBHM to power metal and speed metal.

Album:

Second full-length album...release on January 31th, 2025.In the world of Heavy Metal few genres can match the speed and passion that Speed and Thrash Metal provide. Hailing from Vila Franca de Xira, Lisbon, SPEEDEMON have carved a niche for themselves with their aggressive new style. Their second studio album “Fall Of Man" serves as both an homage and critique of modernity, particularly the presence of technology in human life. Released under Rastilho Records, the album continues to reflect the band’s passion for capturing the human condition in soundscapes synonymous with chaos, urgency, and depth. The follow-up to their debut album "Hellcome" (2019), which consists of nine (9) tracks - including one (1) intro and one interlude - with a total running time of thirty-three (33) minutes and thirty-three (33) seconds, it also has some influences of New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). Through its exploration of themes surrounding technological domination and the erosion of humanity, "Fall Of Man" not only maintains the sonic aesthetic established by its predecessor, but elevates it by incorporating a fictional narrative that questions the fabric of modern life. Essentially, "Fall Of Man" picks up where "Hellcome" left off. "Hellcome" introduces listeners to a dystopian reality driven by technological advancement, while the album that follows explores the rise of machines and their ultimate triumph over humanity. This narrative continuity is important for understanding the social and political views embedded in SPEEDEMON's music. Each track combines an urgent sound with poignant lyrics that speak to the listener's consciousness and provoke reflection on the consequences of unchecked technological growth.Historically, Heavy Metal has often been used as a tool to explore human struggles, social issues, and the core of existing problems. In today’s environment, where technology has infiltrated almost every aspect of life, this perspective is more relevant than ever. Metal’s sound—fast, aggressive, and full of complex melodies—reflects the chaos created by our increasingly device-centric world. The onset of the 2020 pandemic has brought these issues to the forefront, highlighting the gap between human interaction and technological dependency. SPEEDEMON builds on this theme, delivering an album that resonates not only for its music but also for its thematic seriousness. “Fall Of Man” reminds listeners of the dangers that lurk beneath our technological dependency and establishes itself as a masterpiece in the Heavy Metal genre. The album features interesting compositions that deviate from conventional structures. SPEEDEMON's sound is characterized by complex guitar riffs, fast tempos, and aggressive vocal styles - all of which embody the essence of Speed/Thrash Metal. Each song reveals layers of complexity and speed, creating powerful sounds and tones. The rise of machines and automation has occurred throughout history, with figures such as Marshall McLuhan emphasizing the impact of media on the human experience. In the 21st century, the concept of "technological convergence" represents a landscape where artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence, presenting both opportunities and threats. In this context, SPEEDEMON's "Fall Of Man" functions as a cautionary tale, urging listeners to realize the salutary influence technology can have when it blinds us to the moral implications it contains. The album's themes echo those explored in science fiction literature and film of the past century. Classic works like Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot" and the "Blade Runner" films have long warned of a future in which human creativity may be challenged. SPEEDEMON aligns his music with these sounds, creating an interesting dialogue between genres and media while expanding his conceptual narrative.Although "Fall Of Man" criticizes the dominance of technology, it is important to note the argument that technology can enhance, not hinder, our lives. Proponents of technological progress argue that technology has great potential, from healthcare innovations to global connectivity. Calls for progress also often cite the environmental benefits of certain technologies as worthwhile endeavors.Amid the debate, however, SPEEDEMON's music provides a sense of caution. The aggressive soundtrack and haunting lyrics serve as a reminder that while technology has its benefits, the essence of humanity should not be erased by its inventions. The group urges listeners not to ignore the power of technology while advocating for shared responsibility in its use.The impact of “Fall Of Man” goes beyond the music itself. By basing its narrative on relatable emotional events – fear, alienation and ultimately rejection – the album creates a dialogue about the existential content that permeates contemporary society. The choices we make around technology today are reflected in the media, politics and structure of our daily lives. The album also builds on broader cultural debates about the digital age. The difference between freedom and control is at the heart of the current debates about surveillance, data privacy and social media. Although technology has a major impact on improving living standards, it can also exacerbate inequalities and promote social dislocation. By exposing this duality, SPEEDEMON makes a significant contribution to the cultural debate about agency in an increasingly automated world. In conclusion, SPEEDEMON's "Fall Of Man" is a comprehensive exploration of the complex relationship between man and technology, expressed through the raw energy of Speed/Thrash Metal infused with NWOBHM elements. The album provides a detailed account of the growing role of machines in our lives, emphasizing the balance between innovation and potential danger. Through strong vocal narratives and compositions, this album is an exciting challenge to test oneself in the face of technological advancement. As metal music continues to evolve, it’s increasingly important for artists like SPEEDEMON to challenge existing narratives about technology and humanity. “Fall Of Man” not only provides a glimpse into the possibilities of the genre, but also paves the way for future explorations of the complexities of existence in a world powered by machines. Through this important lens, we can begin to consider our relationship to technology and the future we ultimately want to create – a future that captures the essence of humanity. In a world increasingly defined by technological advancement, SPEEDEMON's "Fall Of Man" inspires us to face the challenges of the future while celebrating the relentless spirit that defines humanity. As listeners engage with the album, they are invited to not only be shaken by the intense debate, but also to reflect deeply on the implications of their technological journey.
